2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

I'm holding out hope that we left the real Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook in Vancouver, and they've been waiting patiently for us to retrieve them and oust their sieve-like doppelgangers. I don't feel comfortable about this brave new world where Brent "Hunchback of Madison Street" Sopel is a positive game-changer. Maybe Campbell will improve as well, though I suppose he has as much to do with the Blackhawks' defense as I do.

I'm going to make a bold prediction here - Sidney Crosby will be in the Triple Gold Club by the end of May, which should make every Penguins fan happy.

The Triple Gold Club is Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup and World Championship. For Crosby to do the third this year, the Penguins will have to make an early exit in the second round for him to make the May 9th start of the tournament in Germany.

I doubt that will make any Penguins fan happy.

Yeah Scott Niedermeyer I believe is the only active player to be apart of it. Jarome Iginla lacks a Stanley Cup and Crosby lacks the WC and I'm sure there are more missing one or the other. If you throw the World Juniors in the club to make it the Big Four, Nieds is still the only member with Iggy and Crosby still lacking 1 of the 4.

It's one of those Hockey Achievements nobody talks about.

Is Byfuglien still playing D? I'd assume the Hawks will want him up front to go camp in front of Luongo again. He was clearly in Luo's head last year.

I don't think so, now that Campbell's been back for a couple few games...

Byfuglien is on defense in lieu of Kim Johnsson, who is thought to be dead. Hawks got him for Cam Barker because Barker was miscast in his role here and we needed the cap space. It seemed like a good idea at the time before Kim Johnsson went ahead and died. So it's tentatively Keith & Seabrook, Super Nintendo Hjalmars & Campbell, Byfuglien & Sopel, though the second and third pairings could be shaken up.

I live in the Chicago area and I just want these fair weather Blackhawks fans to stfu.

Hey, listen up, McLovin. I wasted too many hours of my young life glued to a radio because I thought that Tyler Arnason and Tuomo Ruutu would turn this thing around. I don't begrudge any current fan who waited till the old man died to emerge from hibernation. I'll admit I had to take 1997-2001 off. Now sure, it took a while to get people up to speed (Belfour = retired, Roenick = washed up, that old guy with the chili place = still old), but it's all been worth it to be part of something really special. You want fair weather? Put on Versus right now. I hope your goodwill Devils jacket catches fire with you in it.

I don't understand that last sentence, what? Why would you want me to burn? I'm a pretty nice kid, and I've had that jacket for a grip.

I'm talking about people at school who only think the Blackhawks are Kane and Toews, and are still off the excitement of the Olympics. They be trippin' if they think they're hip.

edit: And I don't look like McLovin. I'm far too tall, handsome, filled out, and handsome for me to even look close.

Every team is only so and so to most people. The old Blackhawks were only Chelios, Roenick, and Belfour. Christian Ruuttu awareness never reached the highs I feel it should've reached.

Wow, the Red Wings are just dominating the Desert Dawgs tonight. I really thought the Coyotes would at leats tturn up, it's a Game 7 FFS! Reminds me of how poorly the Caps did in game 7 against the Penguins last year, a performance they had better not repeat tomorrow against Les Habitants.

Yeah, I guess that's true.

One kid today in my Journalism class claimed Kane got a hat trick last night, and that Sydney Crosby is on the Hawks. I Didn't know what to say to him.

That kid has a future writing for HockeyBuzz.

Well, I've just soured on the whole "NHL on Versus" thing. Reason? They are about to air Game 2 of the goddamn D-League Finals.

As long as they didn't preempt the end of Phoenix-Detroit to show it, I'm okay with that. ESPN had no trouble showing fringe stuff like that when the NHL was a cornerstone of its programming.

"The Daily Line," however, can crawl in a hole and die, and I feel this to be a fair statement without having watched a second of it. Jenn Sterger's boobs and a trio of guys who pretend to know about sports do not a sports program make.

Jenn Sterger has such a bad case of Slut Voice.

You know, the NBA D-League is actually superior to the NCAA. This is a whole lot better to watch without the 98-second shot clock of the beloved college game.
