Good, because I will: the vaunted Players' Manager did nothing to calm everyone down, like his rookie pitcher, his :censored:fitting left fielder, or his error-making shortstop, when the 7th started to unravel. He also put the human prevent defense Kyle Farnsworth in the game to replace a Mark Prior that shouldn't have been that deep into the game in the first place. I'll also blame him for 2004, when his idea of rallying the clubhouse was to blame his poor decision-making on nebulous-to-fictitious racist hate mail and Steve Stone, then hide behind his son some more, who at least had the decency not to once again commit Dusty's cardinal sin of "clogging the basepaths."

First, off it was the 8th inning, not the seventh. Prior had a three-hit shutout through seven innings, having retired the last eight batters and throwing 95 pitches. Fans would have gone berzerk if Dusty would have sent out Farnsworth or whoever-the-hell else to start that 8th inning, and rightfully so. I agree with everything elsey you said, though.

I said 7th. I meant 8th. Typo!

I don't think there would've been any going berzerk. Young pitcher, close to 100, three-run lead late, if you can't go to your bullpen (Farnsworth excluded) then, when can you?

I figured you meant 8th inning. Just mentioning it. Realistically, Prior was cruising along and, close to 100 pitches or not, nobody takes him out of the game. We have heard pitchers say many times that pitch count is overrated, sometimes they are more tired throwing 80 than 120 in other games, etc. Obviously Dusty spoke with Prior and knew how he felt. In a game which was far from decided, when the pitcher is cruising like that, he should at least get a chance to face one more hitter. It wasn't that he had several innings left in him, just that he was on a roll. If you take out a pitcher who had retired his last eight batters before he threw 100 pitches, you are going to be second guessed if the pen gives up the lead. And I agree that the pen should be able to get six outs without giving up three runs, but that is another point. I think Prior should have been pulled after Pierre hit the double.

There's your ballgame.

Tar and feather those worthless POS on the Yankees offense. They deserve it.

This series is all but over now. No chance the Orioles lose tomorrow.

Yankees really earned that loss tonight. Congratulations, you worthless pieces of :censored:.

Good luck against Detroit, Orioles. No chance they lose tomorrow. None. I'd be willing to make any kinds of wagers with any of you about that.

And people think Lights Out overreacts?

No, you were being a douche. See BucFan's posts to see how to be happy without being douchey.

Again, I fail to see it. Its not like I said suck it or screw you to Red fans. The Reds aren't even remotely on the same level of hate that I have for the Dodgers or Yankees. Is showing the Bengals-49ers moments seriously that big of a deal? I'm not saying I'm perfect; in July on this thread I made a blanket statement about Cleveland fans hating all things Pittsburgh, before crashcarson reminded me that those types of fans make up only a small percentage of all Indian fans.

I still can't believe the Giants will be playing next week. I remember I turned on the Charger-Saint game on Sunday when the Reds were kicking the crap out of SF. Still I just wanted to win at least one, and not go home meekly. Game 3 reminded me of a typical Sharks playoff loss, where the Reds had dominated the Giants, but still found a way to lose. We then came out and dominated Game 4 with the help of Lincecum and a subpar effort from Leake. I couldn't believe how the Giants had sent this series to 5 after looking downright horrid the first 2 at home, and they had a miserable track record in Cincy. Today was so special, beating Latos, who is hellbent on beating the Giants after a couple of years ago. The Reds never gave up, though. They made it torturous again on us, getting at least a couple of baserunners per inning. The Giants fortunately got the breaks(like the double play) and made the defensive plays to prevent the Reds from getting closer. It is too bad because I will always like and respect Dusty for the 10 years he managed the Giants. It's too bad though that he can't get over the hump no matter where he goes.

I won't run from it. Of course I'm overreacting. I'm still relatively certain my prophecies will be proven right in due time, as much as I hope they aren't.

Think of it this way - last night was about as demoralizing a loss as you could possibly imagine for the Orioles. Yankees have a chance to clinch the next night, home stadium, crowd, etc., and Joe friggen' Saunders on the opposing mound.

The end result? 1 run in 13 innings. An INCREDIBLE situational failure in the 8th with 2nd-3rd, 1 out, and the 5-6 at the plate, something that has been going on all season long with this team.

I figure I have every right to be pissed off beyond hell. And, you know what? You all have the right to look at me as a total cartoon (which, well, I am) and totally remove any credibility my posts have. By all means, go ahead. I can't exactly blame any of you.

Damn. Well, despite the loss, Oakland had an awesome, out of nowhere season. I hope they can continue on, but it's still the A's. They'll find a way to get back, albeit with a totally different group of guys. That's just how the A's roll. No matter who wins tomorrow night, I don't see either the Yankees or O's beating this Tigers team.

So at the end of the night, the Giants (ugh) came back and beat the Reds, the Tigers ended Oakland's magical season in yawn fashion, and the Beltway teams won.

I'll just quit on this postseason if the Final Four is the Yanks, Giants, Tigers and Cards. The richest most powerful teams winning yet another set of titles, at the expense of Cinderella teams. What a boring combination of teams.

I pray to God the Nats and Orioles both win tomorrow to save face in this postseason.

It's really strange to hear the Giants talked about in the same vein as the Yankees and Cardinals. I kinda hope that always makes me shudder just a little bit.

Well all the pressure is on the Yankees, if they put up another stinker tomorrow there my be some changes. New hitting coach at the very least, and wow how many years left on A Rods deal maybe he can find the invisible juice Lance took.

Dose not matter who wins tomorrow Tigers will win the World Series.

Also Go Nats, would be entertaining to see DC in the NLCS.

I picked the Tigers to win the World Series in April. I still think they will win.

Welp, I'm glad everyone else has faith in the Tigers, because I'm still not sure about this team. Glad we won, but I feel like we're super-vulnerable still.

JV, Fister, and Scherzer can't go 9 every night — and that's our achilles. Hopefully the offense picks it up so it's not an issue, but we've seen Mr. Valverde blow leads of like 6 runs this year. That bullpen scares the :censored: out of me.

You've entirely missed the point there, tNaker.

The other three have all won recently. The Tigers last won in... 1984?

The Giants will haunt Mat Latos' nightmares forever.

It's mostly dopey Los Angeles fans complaining about our Giants.

The Giants are not rich, they've just had some recent success.

The Cardinals are not rich, they just win often.

The Tigers are rich, but they are not recent winners.

The Yankees are rich, and they win often.

I can understand why you wouldn't enjoy that group of teams if you're not a fan of any of them, but they're hardly the copies of each other.

The Yankees are a disgrace to New York, to America, and to The American Spirit, and should all be fired, then deported, then drawn and quartered, after which their corpses should be set on fire, so that nobody can ever remember the way they almost lost the division to Baltimore but didn't, and then almost lost a division series to Baltimore but didn't.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
