rams80
The refs were just garbage across the board - there's a reason why Boger's grades had to be changed by the league for him to be allowed to ref this game.Yes, but Boger usually screws up by calling everything, no matter how ticky tack. Like I said in the Super Bowl thread, Bizarro Boger was in the stadium tonight. ninersdd
I will always remember Boger for the "That's not f***ing holding" comment by Harvey Dahl that was said into his microphone. BEAR DOWN ARIZONA!2013/14 Tanks Picks Champion
Cujo
Piss-poor refereeing all season long (going back to the replacements) -- Boger and crew botching big calls during the Super Bowl was a fitting end.
aawagner011
I don't see why this deserved its own thread. If any play deserves it's own thread, it's the defensive holding non-call on 4th down -- or Beyonce's nip-slip. Oh the irony.(All in good fun, of course)
drivesoldrigs
So watch a replay of the intentional safety. The Ravens (# 84 in particular) were intentionally holding to draw flags to insure a safety was called. Only thing is, no flags were thrown. And we are supposed to believe the refs were impartial. Other plays during the game MAY be debatable. I doubt even Ray Lewis could watch that replay and not break out laughing!
Rockstar Matt
Holding on the punt = OH NO WE GIVE THEM AN AUTOMATIC SAFETY (on a play designed to get a safety)So who cares?Pretty much this.I don't see why this deserved its own thread.Because it was the first time any of us have probably seen a punt milk-out in the end zone, with some of us disputing the safety ruling.Even if the refs had called a holding, it would have been a safety either way. Brilliant play call on the Ravens part. One of the best calls I've ever seen.Did you also see the 15 obvious holds that San Francisco committed but were never called? Was just coming in here to post that. The refs were just garbage across the board - there's a reason why Boger's grades had to be changed by the league for him to be allowed to ref this game.I'm just wondering why everybody wanted the regular refs to come back so badly. Newsflash: they suck.Because the replacements were even worse. I've never seen a holding call called on the returner before. Plus they cost a team a football game because of a terrible call. drivesoldrigs
The point is the refs weren't willing to throw a flag against the Ravens, even when the Ravens wanted them to. Did you get that part?
CS85
Fact is for the majority of this game the officials let the players play, which definitely made for a better game. For as many people bitch that officials take over and decide the outcome of too many games, you got what you wanted.Just because the team you were rooting for lost doesn't mean you can double back. drivesoldrigs
How do you know the team I was rooting for lost? I just thought that play was purposely blatant and I don't understand why no flags were thrown!
Cujo
Much like the oh-so-popular "tuck rule", five-yard defensive holding needs to be completely nixed from the rulebook. However, since it's in place, it needed to be enforced in the final minutes. None of this "let the players play" bullsh1t. In the Supe, the first two minutes are just as important as the last two.And if you Frisco fans are really going to gripe, you're better off bitching about that non-call^^ than 11 dudes being held on the meaningless safety. (Although a flag should have still been thrown. Another ref screw up.)
CS85
How do you know the team I was rooting for lost? I just thought that play was purposely blatant and I don't understand why no flags were thrown!Because I weild the magical powers of assumption. You certainly don't hear Ravens fans complaining about whistles that didn't go their way.You may as well ask why Cary Williams wasn't ejected. That's just how the game went - the players played and the officials stayed out of it.Also why is all this underlined? Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. drivesoldrigs
Will the NFL even bother to sweep under the carpet, their intentional non call of the intentional holding on the intentional safety? Or will they just ignore the whole thing? And I don't get underlining either!

CS85
Again this is all totally trite. The 49ers got stonewalled on two separate goal line stands, both times in which they had all the momentum and still couldn't punch it in. drivesoldrigs
And using your magical powers of assumption, tell me again how they were stonewalled? Tell you what, if you can find a living, breathing human who can watch the intentional non flag of the intentional holding on the intentional safety who can watch that play and say that an impartial referee would not have thrown a flag on #84 of the Ravens, then I will be able to tell you if he or she is sitting on level ground. Weak argument, I know, but there could be something to it. Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC
drivesoldrigs
There is flat out no excuse for a flag not being thrown on that play. That is not a subjective observation, but a 110% objective observation of it.
Cujo
To recap:- Eleven flags for holding should have been thrown on the punter-safety.- Frisco would have lost 34-31, regardless of any laundry being thrown.- Jerome Boger will never see a Super Bowl again unless he's buying off StubHub.
