Is it really that difficult time wise to wait and see what teams it will be and make the hats in team colors? Why would I want a black Cardinals hat? If they did them in team colours, they'd have to wait until after the winner is decided to produce them all, which would be stupid, since these hats are only relevant for a few weeks anyways, and wasting some of that time producing them would make these an even stupider purchase (run on sentence; désolé). You need at least some stock to be pre-made and ready to sell right away. This is why they need to be a neutral colour like white/black/grey. If they had pre-made ALWest caps for Oakland and Texas in each team's respective colour, then they'd have thousands of caps gone to waste for the losing team (let's say Oakland), since they'd be green and there's nothing you can do with them. However, if they're black, you can just remove the A's logo and put on a Texas one, preventing the phantom merchandise stock from going to waste. Nobody cares about your humungous-big signature. They make the team patches for every possible team, then they glue on the team that wins/clinches. That's why the team logo always looks disjointed from the rest of the hat. That ways they only lose out on 5,000 rangers patches and not 5,000 rangers hats.
