If the Cardinals defend their NL pennant, and are back in the World Series, they will have to win it or bust. It was painful to watch Michael Wacha's comments after the Red Sox clinched the World Series championship at Game 6. It wasn't a nice video to watch. You could see the pain in his heart and his face. Sad.

If the Yankees make the 2014 postseason and are on a title run, and if they win the pennant and the Cardinals qualify, and are back to back NL champions, a Yankees-Cardinals 2014 WS could make Joe Buck and Fox very, very happy. Some wanted it in 2012, but the Cardinals lost to the Giants and the Yankees lost to the Tigers in that ALCS sweep.

This is a phantom merchandise of a Cardinals back-to-back NL champions 2012 shirt, but they lost to the Giants.

I see another classic Cardinals-Giants NLCS rematch from 2012. That would be an epic classic.

It's the all star break, you can barely make a prediction on who will be in the playoffs. Stop with these predictions for teams that arent even first in their division right now.

Yes, I know, but the whole talk in Sportsland and on MLB.com is who will make the playoffs and how the second half will go. It's fascinating.

Why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything wrong.

That's ok, I was just discussing potential 2014 postseason matchups.

World Series Matchups I would like to see if these teams qualify for the postseason:

1. Yankees-Dodgers (Two classic franchises battle for MLB power)

2. A's-Giants (Bay Bridge Series rematch from '89, California shows it's baseball might)

3. A's-Dodgers (California shows it's baseball might)

4. Yankees-Cardinals (Two classic franchises battle for MLB power)

5. Yankees-Giants (Two classic franchises battle for MLB power)

6. Angels-Dodgers (Freeway Series)

7. Tigers-Cardinals (Classic Midwestern series)

8. Reds-Tigers (Classic Midwestern series)

9. Nationals-A's (Bryce Harper brings in huge ratings nationwide against a tough California team)

Rays vs the Durham Bulls. Book it, take it to the bank, dance.

The main NL threat to the Cardinals if they are in the postseason is the Dodgers and Giants, and maybe the Braves or Nationals. Period. But I also know, if the Cardinals are in the postseason, some MLB fans don't want to see the Cardinals repeat as National League champions. But we'll see which manager will be hoisting the NL Giles Trophy this October.

Two observations:

1. I think Troy Tulowitzki will likely be traded. Which team, I don't know. I think staying in Denver is heartbreaking to watch and the heartbreak will end when he goes to a contender.

2. I see Cliff Lee getting traded to the Yankees this month. The Yankees will do whatever to be in the postseason, and yes, Lee suffered an injury this year, but the Yankees always wanted him.
