Unocal
The 7 outs for a Derby idea- yeesh. Under the old 10 outs rule, Stanton could have had 15-20. I mean, he only hit 6, yet it felt like 13.
Lights Out
Yasiel Puig is gonna win! POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
Unocal
Now watch Todd Frazier win the HR Derby because this format makes no sense. I mean, he only gets here because Puig went 0-for and Mourneau tied him.
dbadefense1990
Well this revamped "bracket-bye-7 outs" format for the Home Run Derby has now gotten stale and boring. If there is one negative consequence of Major League Baseball finally cracking down on performance-enhancers, it's the gradual dullness of the HRD. HedleyLamarr
The HR Derby is where they need the pitch limit....8 batters total. Three rounds, with the 4 highest getting to the second round, and the 2 highest semi-finalists in the finals. 20 pitches in the first two rounds, 15 pitches in the finals. You can either hit 20 homers, swing 20 times and not homer, or waste a pitch for rest. This thing shouldn't take three hours.
Unocal
Well, considering next year's HR Derby is in hitter-friendly Cincinnati.... MLB better smarten up with the format. Now, as much as Frazier getting to the finals was fluky, watch him be the NL Captain.
LordOfBaltimore
There will definitely be a new format next year. Hopefully.
FiddySicks
You can thank me for that. DanSanchez8
I can't believe Yasiel Puig hit 0 home runs. I guess hes's saving them for the All Star Game.
Sport
That reminded me of when the Columbus Destroyers made the Arena Bowl. My rooting interest was in the championship round, but I only watched out of obligation.I'm happy for Todd Frazier though. All I wanted was for him to not get shut out in the first round and he weaseled his way to the finals.
Tigers6884
Did anyone else catch the amount of swearing said by the players that ESPN had to censor out during the Home Run Derby? It sounded like a couple of players in particular were “fired up" by home runs.

BigBubba
The problem with the HR Derby wasn't the format, it was how they threw in as mans commercials, plugs, and needless features as they could in the time. Nobody cares about your humungous-big signature. PotD: 29/1/
