I think the ridiculous point about the "Playoffs take away from the players' in the classroom" argument isn't just that every other division does it, as does every sport, and would take place mainly during weekends anyway, it's that it would be DURING. WINTER. BREAK.

This argument is geared more towards the schools that have stricter policies against playing games near final exams, I'd think.

I vaguely recall schools like Stanford and Virginia turning down bowl bids to certain games in years past because they were being held during semester finals. These schools do have enough clout with their respective conferences to have their commissioners vote against a playoff model that involves games to be played on/near Finals week.

And although the games are played on weekends (or Friday nights), there's the matter of practicing for said games...not to mention that one or both teams have to travel to a particular site to play a game.

No no, the ridiculous point about them trotting out that argument is that we're starting to see some inertia towards a 13th regular season game (because Super Conferences want to see more Conference rivals, but also have 2-3 tin cans to mercilessly abuse at home.)

All the NCAA does is to benefit themselves and the teams. What is the last time they did something for the student. If they want to do a playoff, so be it, but they should do more for the student such as eliminating weekday games. Eliminating weekday games allow students with extra time to study for an exam or test and allow teams more rest. Moving on, I hope 2012 won't have any scandals like PSU and Miami and exciting games.

I see your point, and that's pretty much why you don't see the Ivy League allow their schools to participate in the FCS playoffs. And I know about the traveling situation, but I would think there's a lot of preparation for bowl games during finals in the first place, plus I'm sure there can be arrangements made for the players to take exams with professors. So while you're points are valid and true in cases, I think they can work around something or maybe delay things a week because for the vast majority of FBS schools, the playoff would be mainly during break time

I remember when the East-West Shrine Bowl was played in San Francisco, not the wanna be Football stadium ''The Trop''. Also what the hell is with the uniforms? They look like my Senior Bowl for High School uniforms, they're awful.
