Personally I find the numerals boring, but you are going with a "classic" look, so it makes sense. How about a stylized block number? It was OK (though still not preferred) on the original, but when you add the gray, it really bothers me for some reason. If you want to give that nod to the past, I'd remove the gray from those stripes. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."
