Really cool stuff all around. I must say I'm digging the new tiki-esque logo, even if I'm not quite sure what it represents. I see some palm trees in there... and what I'm guessing is some kind of hula dress?

Anyways, good work on the update.

Thanks man. The logo is actually a Hawaiian priest mask. Priests in Hawaii are often referred to as "kahuna," so that's what it represents. I wasn't thinking about the palm tree for the shape on top though...good observation!

And here's a couple of pictures for reference.

Utah Mountaineers

All right, looks like it's time to move on. Next up is the Utah Mountaineers. The logo and nickname came from a baseball team I designed back in the day, but I changed the colors from red and gold to purple and gold, since purple is fairly rare in the NFL and the Rockies are, after all, the purple mountain majesties. The logo is a purple, italic U with gold mountains (Yes, I know, the purple mountain majesties are gold, but I think it looks best this way), and the wordmark includes the logo with "TAH" added to it. The uniforms are fairly simple. The jerseys feature simple shoulder piping and and italic number font to go with the wordmark. The pants are where it gets interesting, though, as I included mountain ranges along the bottom. I REALLY like how it turned out, and I hope you guys do too. I put them in the AFC to form a natural rivalry with the Broncos.

Lemme know what you think!

I don't think the UTAH wordmark works. The U and T are leaning one way, but then the A is leaning the opposite way, just to get to the H, that leans the same way as the U and T. Its not terrible, but it just doesn't look right.

I agree so far with what everyone has posted about the pants. They have a Timberwolves feel to them (before they changed from green to grey) and I think it would really give this team a natural identity. I also like the shade of purple, I'd call it more of a plum color and has more red then blue.

Fantastic work, I know you don't get many C&C on these concepts, but just remember there are people like me who don,t post very often but love looking at concepts.

I really like both of these concepts and am excited to see more of the expansion teams. I've always been a fan of the old school Hawaii logo to be re-instituted in some fashion (with the rainbow). Very well done, nonetheless.

i think the mounatins take up just a little too much of the U. the letter form isnt as clear as it should be. not a big deal on the word mark but it needs to be clearer on the single logo. not liking how the A in the word mark leans the other way. just make that a normal skew like the others and its really nice

All right guys, I slightly reduced the size of the mountains in the logo and wordmark, and I also fixed the "A" in the wordmark.

Good update?

I would say so, though it'd be interesting to see what that "U" would look like without the mountains in front of it. However, what about putting the mountains behind the "U?"

Besides that, however, the updates are an improvement. The plum/gold scheme fits very well for Utah, and the mountains are a call-back to the Utah Jazz's late 1990s look, but without all the gaudiness.

I'll bump this by responding to some comments.

I am not too fond on the logo, I think the mountains obstruct the U. But I really really like the uniforms.

I know the mountains obstruct the U, but that's what I was going for. I wanted the focus to be more on the mountains than the U. And if I put the mountains behind, you wouldn't be able to tell they were mountains. I think though that making them a little smaller makes the U a little more noticeable.

I like them both. Utah my favorite so far. Please tell me Birmingham Al. will be on the list somewhere I would love to see a Birmingham concept.

Hoping to see Hartford. Utah looks nice, jersey is a bit bland compared to the pants.

Unfortunately neither of those cities were included. Sorry guys!

Columbus Kings

NFC North

Okay, next up is the Columbus Kings. These guys, like Hawaii, are an mbannon original, although I redesigned the look. The logo is a blue Old Englishy C with a gold crown on top. On the crown are two blue diamond jewels, as well as a red football, which I think looks quite nice. The wordmark is simply Kings in the same Old Englishy font as the logo. The uniforms feature a red helmet (obviously) and red and white uniforms. The helmet stripe comes to a point in the back like the jersey and pant striping. I used a serifed number and NOB font to go with the old school Old English. I put them in the NFC to avoid an Ohio overload in the AFC North, as well as to bring the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry into the NFL with the Kings and Lions.
