  1. Yeah, they kinda fluctuated between "we're red and white" "no, we're red and gold," and "no, no, no, we're red and silver" for most of their first two decades.
  2. Probably because the Rays' grays were just kinda there, while the Mariners' grays were actually good looking.
  3. Amusingly enough, the Sibir third's design was actually born as a Sabres third, basically verbatim aside from being in vintage white with blue-gold-blue stripes...which I then reused three times, including here (Panthers and Senators being the others, though each with their own team-specific tweaks). The home/away set I'd had in mind back in 2016 was basically a hockey version of Arsenal's bruised banana shirt, but with snowflakes (IIRC I'd had light blue flakes on navy and white flakes on light blue) but new decade, new direction. So I now have alts for Traktor, adding some color to the black and white aesthetic. The grayish blue and red come from the Stalinets tractors that were built at Chelyabinsk's tractor plant, the former being their livery and the latter being used for lettering and some other accents. The red T jersey is like the home-away design, but with a mostly solid back, with the front being red and the back black. Then the Stalinets inspired jersey is, by my own admission, somewhat experimental in its nature.
  4. Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to mourn the end of the 2022 Cincinnati Bengals season, for the Kansas City Chiefs were Dey who beat them Bengals. I would also like to add a lament for the separation of Joe Burrow and accuracy, may they one day reconcile. Yeah, it felt like Cincy could have won this one, if they didn't keep blowing opportunity after opportunity.
  5. It's not like they could dunk Joe Montana into a fountain of youth, to be fair.
  6. I figure a good chunk of us have concepts we had in progress and, for various reasons, forgot about for a while...then you look through whatever folder you save your concepts in, look through and think "hey, I never finished that one, did I?" Before certain events unfolded, I'd had a Sibir concept I'd gotten started on...and then forgot about for a few years. And then I look through and realize I lost the original home/away set, so I had to make a new version. I actually originally had a script crest in mind, but honestly, it looked terrible, so I'm going back to the drawing board on that one. The third...started on it in 2016. Being posted in 2023. Better late than never Traktor used to be that Russian team whose logo was a cartoony polar bear impersonating the San Jose Shark. Their new bear roared "do something with me" to me, and here it goes. I'll be posting an alternate later, haven't decided what I wanna do on that front, but for the home/away set, going with a Big T seemed like a good way to go. On the sleeves I went with a shadowed tractor tread/herringbone pattern...and then there are the T stripes on the socks.
  7. Was about to say this...I'm in the minority of people who liked the Cuba grays, I would've been fine with the Cubs junking the current grays mostly because they're kinda blah. Not sure what the best answer would be tbh, whether it's modernizing the 60s grays, making a new version of the 80s blues or trying to polish the turd that is the current grays.
  8. The Diamondbacks never had a panel/regular mismatch, but they did have hats that didn't match the batting helmet in the purple/teal set. I feel like there's a couple other teams that had similar mismatches. IIRC their first season only, the purple helmets had the D snake on it while the cap had the A. Can't recall what the road mismatch was, other than it feels like there was one. From 99 until they changed colors, it was a more minor mismatch on the road: both had the D snake, but the helmet version had a thick white outline that was never used on that logo outside of that one application.
  9. There's something endearing about the happy Jayhawk that would be lost if they turned it into just another angry/snarling mascot.
  10. I take it, since "Doc" would imply top tier intelligence, that you feel he's not worthy of the moniker. But yeah, saying something about the occasional loss being the nature of the game is fine. Outright saying you made no attempt to set your team up for success is dumb.
  11. Aw, you say that like it's a bad thing
  12. I'm only old enough to remember when, outside of baseball season, the Bengals, and only the Bengals, put nothing on their field.
  13. Some people are sadistic like that, that ruining somebody's quality of life is the prize. Surprised nobody's told Bill Romanowski about this, crap like this seems like it'd be right up his alley.
  14. Something I've thought about occasionally: I remember hearing something about the CFL having two salary caps back in the 90s, a general cap and a separate QB cap. With MLS' Designated Player rule also on my mind, I'm thinking the NFL might benefit from having a similar rule where X number of roster spots are exempt from the cap, which would likely enable stars to get paid what they feel they're worth without teams needing to decimate their rosters to the extent they occasionally need to do now.
  15. Well, guess anyone who was going to Atlanta can get a refund, or catch a Lil Jon show or something. Unless the Bills go Super Saiyan en masse, the Bengals are heading to Kansas City....and next up, Dallas and San Francisco...not gonna lie, I'm more rooting for the Whiners to lose than for either to win.
  16. Holy crap...man I hope that wasn't a stiletto, she could've killed you with one of those if it hit heel first. Glad you got away from her, she sounds nuts. EDIT: You too @FiddySicks...yikes, trying to make YOU go broke because she refused to stop wasting her own money...just yikes.
  17. And @infrared41 has finally revealed his IRL identity....Chris Berman
  18. I guess you could go back to Notre Dame's occasional use of green jerseys, which began in the 1920s and was originally done when their opponents also wore dark blue. Oddly enough, when the Irish began wearing road whites in 1950, the home jerseys were green (and wouldn't change back to blue until 1959).
  19. Just read the article about the new Coyotes alt, and what they were going for with the script reminded me of a concept I did about 15 years ago....namely, @bohob's constructive criticism of the script I'd made for it: And now I see a third jersey at the highest level of professional hockey in North America, if not the world, with a script explicitly pursuing "rough and raw" as a design quality. Not that I really aim for stylistic messiness that often, but it felt simultaneously nostalgic and ironic.
  20. It was as I figured it'd be, the Jags would play KC tough, but the Chiefs are just better right now (not to mention they don't do dumb crap that costs them games as often as the Chargers do). Looking forward to what they do next season. Far as who I want to see holding up the Lombardi in a few weeks among who's left, my heart says the Bills are finally champions, but my head says the Eagles or Chiefs.
