  1. it’s not about “smelling my own farts” (though I’m not gonna lie, I do Dutch oven myself from time to time if they’re really hearty ones). I’m not saying it’s better- if anything, it’s worse because people get irrationally angry about little things. Sure - there’s quiet games - a lot of them, just like anywhere. But the number of microphones and cameras pointed at players (with reporters asking them why they suck, when they’re going to stop sucking, etc) is likely higher than places where there’s literally less media, or a million better things to do. And where your failings get front-page articles, followed by “oh, and 15 people were wounded when a building collapsed, story on page 2”. Players have said it. Hell - coaches have said it (Jonathan Gannon discussed the differences between Philly, Indy, and AZ scrutiny just a week or two ago.). Markel Fultz said it after he was run out of town then ended up turning into a serviceable player in Orlando (I think). Honest question - are there as many big-name FAs that fail when they go from NY to say, KC as when players go from wherever to PHL, NY, BOS? I’m not sure how this is interpreted as thinking any place is better than anywhere else, because it’s nothing to do with that. But the fact is that players and pretty much anyone involved in the game will tell you it’s a different beast. (I know this clip here isn’t unique, and I’m sure happens everywhere - even in the places I mentioned - but I think it’s funny so just gonna post.)
  2. If you think the scrutiny and pressure from fans and media when playing in LA or StL is the same as playing in Boston or NY or other places, I’m not sure what to tell you. Note that I’m not saying that the scrutiny and pressure is a good thing, or makes any one place better than any other, just that it’s a thing, and it 100% messes with some weak-minded players. It’s not a shock that players leave ”rabid” markets and go to others and excel, or leave others and come to these ones and choke. I’m not sure why anyone takes these opinions personally. Edit: unrelated, but currently on Toronto they’re no longer doing Skydome tours It’s not the reason I came here, but definitely something I’ve been wanting to do since basically it opened.
  3. I sure hope so, because right now he looks like just another soft guy that wilts whenever there's the potential for criticism. It's one thing to struggle. Even MVPs go through stretches where nothing seems to go right. But this guy - like Castellanos last year - doesn't even look like a AAA player. I get it - you're in a different environment (which honestly, has been pretty nice to him so far up until yesterday) but just play the way you're supposed to. He has $330M coming to him - he has nothing to worry about (unfortunately, he's playing like that.) Right now he's joining the ranks of losers like Nnamdi Asomugha, who excelled when nobody was watching or nobody was really passionate, then signs a deal in a bigger sports town and regresses to the point where he ends up quitting.
  4. While he did get lucky and hit a HR in the 9th, it's gotten so bad for this loser that even the TV PBP guy - who's the nicest guy in the world - is laughing at how bad he is. These are two consecutive pitches.
  5. that’s exactly what I meant. Neither city is known for rabid baseball fanaticism. He’s another soft guy who’d thrive on the cardinals or Reds or a team like that. Anyone watching him this season would have to question how he’s ever had any success.
  6. I realize Trea Turner hasn't played where anyone cares about sports, but my god - he genuinely looks like a guy that's never played the game before. He's basically an automatic out, and in the rare occasions he gets on, he's terrified to steal a base, and he's been nothing more than a mediocre fielder. I thought he'd be closer to Bryce Harper than Nick Castellanos, but here we are. At least Castellanos is getting hits this year, even if still not earning his $100M. I'm not sure if/when Turner is going to remember how to play baseball. Really hoping that we're not going to regret being stuck with this guy for 10 more seasons. I guess he just wanted the check, and then checked out.
  7. The issue is that the script is written by the league itself and the referees are their way of attempting to execute it. That clip was great, and honestly, the NFL would be a lot more entertaining if it was written more like WWE, but even in that case, save for the couple of teams that would have "creative control", the league's writers would need to script some teams as jobbers (which they kinda already do) and some to be the "LOL Cena wins" or "LOL Roman wins" teams... which they kinda already do (though instead of Solo Sokoa interference at the end, we get questionable referee calls.)
  8. how many times are you going to post the exact same thing? Just turn off your tv.
  9. Maybe you shouldn’t watch. Doesn’t seem like the thing for you.
  10. Is that shimmer fabric just as light as their normal fabric? If so, I wonder if it could be used for football jerseys or pants. The shimmer could look great in both metallic and non-metallic colors (like a "shimmer-black".)
  11. I had no idea. I mean... wouldn't blame them if they went on strike. Can the players on an individual team strike without the entire union? Probably not, and I'm not sure if this violates the CBA enough to warrant a strike, but I wouldn't blame them for walking out.
  12. Is that just a curtained off part of the arena? Not even a separate-private room?
  13. I'm referring specifically to the most recent ones.
  14. OK, I guess it's on my end. No idea what it could be.
  15. Add Trea Turner to the list of softies that can't hack it. At least Castellanos has remembered how to make contact this year and looks like an actual baseball player, albeit not one making $100M. But this guy? Total fraud loser.
  16. This thread is a good example. All I see is "spacer.png" (go to last page, and see if they load for you)
  17. Also odd that a guy from BC is wearing an Eagles shirt! Unless you're "Tom from Vancouver".
  18. Why are so many images not showing up anymore? I checked out the concepts forum for the first time in a while, and even in recent threads, the images were dead. Is it just something on my end?
  19. The Giants should wear their white version against the Eagles in their new green throwback. I'm a fan of the GIANTS helmet, but if they wanted to slap an NY on their instead and go with something similar to these jerseys as a primary look, I wouldn't hate that. When I see navy helmets and royal jerseys, I get nightmares of Lawrence Taylor and Carl Banks IRL, and Ottis Anderson running right through me in Tecmo Super Bowl.
  20. I love how they word it as if it's their choice where to go, when they're at the mercy of who will actually take them. Read the room, Coyotes. A tweet like that isn't going to garner too many supportive responses.
  21. If a guy gets cut during the NFL season, how would he become eligible for the XFL? They said there's a fall draft after NFL roster cuts, but tons of guys get released after that. Or maybe there's a guy on a practice squad that may think he's got a better path if he excels in the XFL. He'd be ineligible.
  22. oh I wasn’t doubting that the color may actually be changing, just saying it’s not cool to manipulate a press release to give people the impression that it was specifically about a color change, when that had nothing at all to do with it.
  23. The last thing they should care about is divisional/conference alignment. Put the teams in the best places and then figure it out from there. It's 2023 - temporarily having a team east of it's divisional time zone isn't ideal, but not insurmountable. If Quebec is the best available market, then go there and don't look back. Same if if one of KC or Houston is deemed the best market. None of this SLC nonsense.
  24. That one Peacock playoff game cost $110M per WSJ: The National Football League has struck a one-year deal with NBCUniversal’s Peacock to carry a playoff game exclusively on the streaming service this coming season, the two parties said Monday. Terms of the deal weren’t announced, but people familiar with the matter said it is in the range of $110 million. The Peacock playoff game will be in prime time on Saturday, Jan. 13, which is the first weekend of the NFL playoffs, known as Wild Card Weekend. https://www.crossingbroad.com/2023/05/peacock-is-paying-110-million-for-one-nfl-wild-card-playoff-game.html
