What is your opinion on grey as an accent color in the NBA?

I find it interesting how grey is now being used by so many teams in addition to their main colors as a border or outline color. Now it seems like the Browns are moving to that as well. Do you guys like it? Do you think it's a fad?

I, personally, think it depends on the team. For example, I like it on the Knicks

But I think it hurts what is a really nice look on the Wizards...

I think it severely hurts the Blazer's classic look

NBA Teams that use grey as an accent color on their (primary) uniforms: 5/30

Atlanta Hawks

Indiana Pacers

New York Knicks

Portland Trailblazers

Washington Wizards

NBA Teams that use grey on their uniforms at all: 13/30

Atlanta Hawks

Dallas Mavericks

Houston Rockets

Indiana Pacers

Minnesota Timberwolves

New York Knicks

Orlando Magic

Phoenix Suns

Portland Trailblazers

Sacramento Kings

San Antonio Spurs

Toronto Raptors

Washington Wizards

NBA Teams that use grey on their logos: 15/30

Atlanta Hawks

Charlotte Hornets

Dallas Mavericks

Indiana Pacers

Milwaukee Bucks

Minnesota Timberwolves

New York Knicks

Orlando Magic

Philadelphia 76ers

Phoenix Suns

Portland Trailblazers

Sacramento Kings

San Antonio Spurs

Toronto Raptors

Utah Jazz

Half of the NBA uses grey in their logos and the majority of them are for no good reason (76ers, Jazz, Hornets, etc)

Grey has become the new black in the NBA. In fact here's the teams that use black in those 3 realms.

NBA teams that use black as an accent color on their uniforms: 0/30

NBA teams that use black on their uniforms at all: 10/30

Brooklyn Nets

Chicago Bulls

Miami Heat

Minnesota Timberwolves

Orlando Magic

Phoenix Suns

Portland Trailblazers

Sacramento Kings

San Antonio Spurs

Toronto Raptors

NBA teams that use black on their logos: 13/30

Boston Celtics

Brooklyn Nets

Chicago Bulls

Dallas Mavericks

Los Angeles Lakers

Miami Heat

Minnesota Timberwolves

Orlando Magic

Phoenix Suns

Portland Trailblazers

Sacramento Kings

San Antonio Spurs

Toronto Raptors

Less teams use black now than grey in all categories.

I like it when it looks good.

I don't like it when it doesn't look good.

It's mostly unnecessary. It muddles up color schemes more often than not, though the Knicks (and to a lesser extent the Blazers) are an exception to the rule.

I know the Jazz use some shade of gray grey gray (whatever :P) on apparel/promotions/posters/banners (mostly to outline logos or for other non-jersey-related apparel), but it's nowhere to be found on the uniforms. I think that's more of a smart move than not, though inconsistency of colors between logos and uniforms always irked me. Maybe they could incorporate it on a 4th jersey or use it like they do most of the time (outlining), but it would still likely muddle up their look.

At least in Utah's case, they could replace that gray with a light blue in an effort to tie in the 1997-2010 looks/color schemes while minimalizing any effect on the current set, seeing as the gray's hardly noticeable. But it would kinda mess up darker, almost antiquated aesthetic they have going on now.

A note, i hate grey in ruining what i believe is a great cap logo for the pirates in the NL, and it clutters up the sabres look in the NHL

But in regards to the NBA?

It can be okay when it is placed right next to a logo, but have any gap inbetween (see pirates and sabres) itll be terrible

I don't follow you. There's no gray in their caps. They had a gray cap a while back, but ditched it years ago.

I'm equating the colours silver and grey, and on the alternative caps

I like it on Blazers (only thing that separates them from Bulls).

Without silver, it is still pretty easy to to tell them apart.

I didn't mean literally numbcakes. I meant Black/red/white color scheme. Same can be said bout the old Rockets and Hawks when they both had Red Yellow schemes but Hawks had black.

Dudes on these boards be like Drax the Destroyer
