Looks like the Marlins are hosting the Cubs next weekend. Hmmm. 3 hits per game for 7 games? no probably more like 12-15 games and that is pretty much a best case scenario
kroywen
The "celebration" over Ichiro "topping" Pete Rose's record is actually cheapening the actual accomplishment of him reaching 3,000 hits that will be coming up very soon, to me. Ichiro has an actual legitimate achievement that he'll likely achieve in the next couple weeks - why are we talking about some cooked-up non-event relying on adding together apples and oranges? I hate Pete Rose, but that really has nothing to do with this. Let's focus on celebrating Ichiro's incredible career when the 3,000th hit rolls around, and not sully it with this meaningless stuff. vicfurth
In other news, the cubs are slowly coming back to earth. They're only four games ahead of the Rangers and Nationals for best record in baseball.

CubsFanBudMan
The last time the Cubs "came back to earth" they won 8 straight... or 6 straight. Maybe both. Not worried about 116. Just get to the World Series. And I wasn't serious about Ichiro getting 21 hits in 7 games... not that he can't do it. The "hit king" stuff is to troll Pete Rose. 2001mark
Bautista cancelled his golf tourny, thinks he'll maybe be traded by the deadline. I'm okay with that. His prime is in the rearview & his little injuries will only get worse &/or decline his production. He gave his all, no regrets, he'll be on their Level of Excellence, etc. @2001mark

Do you think baseball teams trying for high win totals would exhaust them the same way we kinda sorta saw with Golden State recently? It's way more games, longer season, outdoors with iffy weather.... how much can exhaustion catch up with a baseball if they win at this rate and maybe get to 100 wins? You don't really get exhausted playing baseball, there is so much rest time during games, it's not like you are running up and down the entire time like basketball, or putting significant wear on your body from contact like football or hockey. rxmc89
Michael A. Taylor had a night to forget. 5, count 'em 5 strikeouts, and if that weren't bad enough he makes a bonehead error that costs the Nats the game. It's like he was cursed.

Unocal
Imagine being a Reds pitcher knowing you have to face Kris Bryant 19 times a season for the next decade. 3 HR's and 2 doubles. No player in the history of baseball ever did that in a game. Until tonight.
cmm
The Texas-NY (AL) game has been in a rain delay in the top of the 9th for two hours. Maybe if they didn't have a pregame rain delay without rain for 21 minutes or delay the game for 5 minutes for a political rally sing-a-long in the 7th, they would've finished. Screw this stupid team.
