Wrigley Field in Chicago stood for over 100 years. I don’t hear anyone from the Cubs crying about a new stadium.

You don’t?  Maybe that’s because it was all the way back in 2013.

I just remembered the time Portland signed Kris Boyd.

Should be a a great match, enjoy the Cup all.

Can't wait for Atlanta to give up a two-goal lead to prove that they're a real Georgia-based sports team.

It's here and it looks amazing! It seemed impossible that Atlanta would have the best atmosphere in MLS, but here we are.

If I'm an ATL fan, I'm feeling good about everything except for Brad Guzan. Go United!

Can't wait for Atlanta United to go up the soccer equivalent of 28-3.

Everybody with any sense was incredibly cynical about Atlanta in MLS and they’ve completely proven all of us wrong. It’s truly incredible

DC United fans haven't been thrilled to hear that the XFL will be coming to Audi Field.

Likewise, some Loons fans are upset at news that Allianz Field will host next year's St. John's vs. St. Thomas Division III football game. (Two years ago these teams set a D-III attendance record playing a game at Target Field; Allianz holds about half that capacity.)

Portland Timbers are feeling Minnesota's pain in the first half, with a goal conceded off a turnover and a defensive miscue. (The Loons, of course, have been notorious for both during their two seasons in MLS.)

If ATL scores again it's pretty much over.

Update: Aaaaaaand it's over.

EDIT: Atlanta just went up 2-0. Can they fulfill the prophecy?

I know that Robert Kraft isn't watching tonight, but if he were, do you think he'd be embarrassed by how much he's abandoned his franchise? Not every franchise can be an Atlanta, but that should definitely be the goal. Tonight's atmosphere is really special.

Good, now the American soccer season is over for 2018. Heartbreaking, yet historically good, season for the riverhounds. Great turnaround for them, but couldn't help but to think there should have been more.

Same with TFC. Coming off such a great season, this one was a letdown.

On to 2019

I'd much rather have a one day special event than an entire football season played at my soccer stadium. I hope part of the deal includes Vince McMahon paying the cost of midseason grass replacement. Don't get me wrong, I like (American) football WAAAAAY more than I do soccer, but for all the crap DC United dealt with getting their own stadium it's baffling that they'd green light an XFL team calling Audi Field home.

Now that they have their own stadium they get to control revenue rather than be tenants at an old stadium. Bringing in extra revenue by renting the stadium out is smart and was definitely something they wanted to do from the get-go. I feel no sympathy for DC United finding a way to make more money.

Shout out to Atlanta United for being the least Georgia team in Georgia. Congrats to them on the Cup and for proving all of us wrong.

Tough loss for the Timbers.

Congrats to Atlanta United FC and their fans. Well deserved.

Atlanta United takes down the Timbers. Tight.

Fun season in all leagues! I need a break from soccer for awhile 😂

Honestly? No, I don't.

The New England Revolution are nothing more than an entry in a ledger to Robert and Jonathan Kraft. The franchise is a means by which the Krafts achieve certain business benchmarks. Namely,
to fill slots on the Gillette Stadium event calendar that aren't occupied by either New England Patriots' football games or concert tour dates; drive foot-traffic to the restaurants and retail establishments operated by tenants in the stadium-adjacent Patriot Place development; maintain relationships with USSF and FIFA officials so as to keep Gillette Stadium on the radar for hosting friendlies, U.S. National Team matches, and international tournaments (most especially, it is hoped, the World Cup); and hold onto their stake in Soccer United Marketing.

The Krafts' stewardship of the New England Patriots is born of passion and rooted in the experiences that Bob shared with his sons - Jonathan, Daniel, Josh, and David - as Pats' season ticket-holders for 20-plus seasons. Their investor-operator status with the New England Revolution? Born of pure, profit-driven pragmatism. Plain and simple.

This is so true but also, in hindsight, it seems like a no-brainer. Young city, underserved by sports with the Hawks being hopeless and the Braves skipping town, put together a great team on the pitch.

It was also a transplant-heavy city with a reputation for being a bad sports town in general. Turns out transplant-heavy isn’t necessarily a negative for MLS since there’s not multi-generational fandom built into the sport in the US.

Right, I forgot to mention but I was thinking the transplant thing, too. MLS fandom so often the outlier compared to other big four allegiances.
