As much as I'd hate to see them leave, it seems like the city of Oakland is and has forever been so incompetent. It might be best to move on.

How is refusing to spend hundreds of millions (if not more) of public money "incompetent"?  I haven't read every article, so am I missing something significant?

You call a city not spending tons of public money on billionaire playgrounds "incompetent", I call it "good sense".

Besides, we've known for a while that MLB wants the A's to :censored: off to Vegas for that moolah. They're just saying they want to keep the team in Oakland because they want to appear diplomatic and turn ire against the city for not bending over backwards to appease them.

Hell, I doubt Vegas even wants the A's with a publically-funded building; they just shelled out for the Raiders not too long ago, and it's not like everybody's welcoming the idea; Phil Ruffin nixed a deal that the A's were trying for.

If Vegas gets the A's, the city will write a 2,000 page book and send it to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and to the other NBA owners as to why Las Vegas deserves an NBA team over anyone else once Seattle joins the league.  It will go into detail as to why they deserve the 32nd NBA team over Mexico City, Louisville, Kansas City, Tampa (among others who may want to be #32 in the NBA once Seattle joins the NBA).

Vegas will also bombard the voicemail of MLS Commissioner Don Garber about why they deserve to join MLS over San Diego, Phoenix, Indianapolis, Louisville, Albuquerque (among others).

Las Vegas having major league sports in all five major sports leagues in the United States is inevitable, whether we like it or not.  To me, Vegas should have been satisfied with the Golden Knights and then later on get an MLS team, but it seems to me that they became envious of places like Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco/Bay Area and they want to collect them all.

If this becomes the case, I can’t wait to see what happens when only the Knights and Raiders come close to packing the building in 10-15 years.

No way does Vegas deserve a MLS team over Sacramento, who MLS refuse to pull the trigger on.

Why? They don’t even deserve their NBA team

The Republic were drawing big crowds in the USL and played to almost full capacity for a good number of seasons now. It was also announced in 2019, Sacramento would be joining the MLS as the 29th team, but instead Charlotte got that spot.

No way should Vegas get the nod over Sacramento, who have been waiting for years.

Why did Charlotte jump Sacramento and get that spot again?  Sacramento's going to continue to wait for years over Las Vegas, and anywhere else a competent ownership group with the capital to run a team can be found.  As someone who's very closely followed the history of Sacramento's MLS bid I can safely say that's something they've never had, and at the rate they're going probably never will.

Of course not. but Vegas thinks otherwise.

I would like to see two of the next expansion teams being Indianapolis Eleven and San Diego Loyal anyways and then have team 32 be New Mexico United or Louisville City FC.

I dunno, there could be 325 million reasons or so.

Charlotte, St. Louis and Sacramento were all announced at the same time, with Charlotte being first due TO them already having a stadium. St. Louis and Sacramento were to be 29 and 30 and start in 2022. Sacramento was pulled because one of the key members of the ownership group backed out. THAT'S why they don't have a team right now.

Lol, there’s two or three big reasons. Biggest being that they have no money, and spent years telling everyone they did.

Sacramento missed out on its chance and really doesn’t deserve another shot.

Those fans deserve better than the indigity of the Republic being rebranded as Sacramento CA/City/SC/FC/United in ten or so years time and part owned by a Leicester City striker.

Sacramento missing out on top level soccer because of ownership and the lead investor pulling out is a travesty, and if it were my hometown team, I would be absolutely furious over how it all went down.

Especially when neither the city nor the county can afford to spend that money. Is the city/county still in the hole for that abomination Mount Davis?

I'm rooting for A's/Rays contraction, because that would make many more heads explode and I still haven't heard a single valid reason as to why either of these glorified farm teams playing to empty stadiums should or will continue to exist in a league declining in popularity. Just BS like "muh player association" or "they can just move them to [NBA roll call city]!" even though both teams have had two decades to make such a move and haven't because nobody's interested. Or talking about that 10 minute freeway drive on 275 across Tampa Bay as if there's landmines in the pavement and they would totally fill the house if they were in Tampa so people wouldn't have to make that treacherous journey.

Also lol lmao at Sacramento "missing out" on MLS. That's like me missing out on a Jayson Tatum themed bag of Ruffles. Who cares.
