For me it's more about "Las Vegas is getting 4 Major League teams way too fast" so much so that I don't think they can sustain all 4 Major League teams plus WNBA, National Lacrosse League, Pro Volleyball Federation, Indoor Football League, MLS team (which they will get) and eventually a Women's soccer team.

Do they have an owner with deep pockets? Venues? Then why is it a concern to you?

This is my attitude about Vegas as well. The only sport I do worry about succeeding there is baseball. But, it's probably more of an A's issue than baseball issue.

Well they've been able to sustain everything so far. Also, the city of Los Angeles got an NBA team, NHL team, and two MLB teams in less than 10 years from 1958-1967, so the idea of a city getting teams this quickly isn't unprecedented.

I thought it was just bitter northern hockey fans who were upset about Vegas having a hockey team, but it seems like there's an odd group of sports fans who see teams in Vegas as some sort of affront to the integrity of competition or something.

Gambling is my main problem with all of this.  It looks like the MLB and NBA have a handle on their gambling policy, as does the NFL to a lesser degree, and likely the NHL too, but I don't know about the other leagues.  It doesn't seem like its going to be a problem so far, but who knows.

Just once I was hoping you wouldn't move the goalposts. You didn't say anything about gambling -- you just said 'For me it's more about "Las Vegas is getting 4 Major League teams way too fast" so much so that I don't think they can sustain all 4 Major League teams'

Yeah, I deleted that message.  My main issue is that I think that Las Vegas should taking things slowly with their major league teams.  Give the new team in Vegas time to breathe for several years before another league goes there.  Let them build local fanbases first.  That is my main issue with the whole thing.

Las Vegas getting MLB and NBA is inevitable, but their arrivals in the city should be spread out a few years rather than having them arrive in the same year.  They won't sustain all both teams if they arrive in the same year.

I just don't like Las Vegas that's why I don't want them to get an MLB team.

Of course I wanted the A's to stay in Oakland/Bay Area but I'd rather see them ultimately stay in Sacramento or end up in Portland or even Vancouver, places that are actual cities with PCL history rather than a gambling tourist attraction.

What about Nashville, then?

As a Nevada tax payer (especially one in the Reno metro area), I care a little bit.

I may be misunderstanding the posts leading up to this comment, so disregard if so.

I'd say it's a concern to all baseball fans because there's not much worse than watching a game on TV in front of an empty crowd in a place where nobody cares, and it sucks to have teams like the Marlins that are simply never going to try, despite having the venue and deep-pocketed owner.   Simply as a fan of the sport, I care.  I absolutely hate when the Phillies are in Miami, because the broadcasts remind me of 2020, and it's more fun when the park is at least 50% full.

I'm not saying he's right about Vegas' ability to support a MLB team - I have no idea.  But I think that even though on paper, support and finances aren't the concern of 99% of us, simply as fans of the game it is.
