GriffinM6
With the influx of powder blue uniforms returning to the MLB, I thought to myself "What if the majority of teams had a road uniform that wasn't grey?". So that's exactly what I tried to answer with this series. A few points need to be made before I post the first uniform. - Not every team will be featured. I only picked the teams that I think could get by not having a grey uniform - Not every team that had a powder blue uniform in its past will be featured - Some of these uniforms will actually be alternates, because I like the team's current grey roads - Four of the teams featured will have 2 sets of colored uniforms - 16 teams in total will have non-grey uniforms. Hope you all enjoy this series! FINISHED TEAMS Arizona Diamondbacks Baltimore Orioles Chicago White Sox Colorado Rockies Kansas City Royals Miami Marlins Milwaukee Brewers Oakland Athletics Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners Tampa Bay Rays
GriffinM6
First up are the Arizona Diamondbacks. Their inaugural uniforms with the patterned sleeve stripes is one of the favorite looks ever, so I brought that back, but differentiated it from the original. Here they have two colored uniforms: Sand and Turquoise. The sand would be the primary road, while the turquoise is an alternate. (The sand looks more like cream and should probably be home.)

I see what you mean with the look of cream. I actually just used the sand color from their logos as the uniform base. I could try posting a darker colored version later. Up next, we have the Orioles. This will be the only team I include two caps for. The new cap has a "B" monogram taken directly from the wordmark, while the other cap is the same one they wear on the road now. They also have a new sleeve patch that features the B from the cap. Additionally I changed their number font to the one the Expos used in the early 70s. I think it goes great with the script on the front. I may end up adding an all black uniform for them later on. We'll just have to wait and see. coco1997
This is an interesting idea for a series. I like what you’ve done so far!
GriffinM6
Up next are the White Sox, who have one of my favorite looks in the whole series. This will be the first uniform for a team that would actually keep their current road uniform and use this as an alternate at both home and on the road. Typically I'm not a fan of black baseball pants, but I think the simplicity of the design is what makes it work. The script on the front is taken from one used for only one year in 1942. Tygers09
Just for once, I'd like to see the Tigers wear either a navy or orange away shirt that is just like their home shirts! But thats not the reason I lost total interest in them, it doesnt matter...

Tygers09
Griffin, It's basically their home shirts design Old English D on left chest and stripes. Only with orange shirt with navy D/stripes or Navy shirt with white D/ stripes. White pants with both.
The_Admiral
My "Un-Gaying the MLB" parody thread got nuked before I even hit submit. Browser tab plumb closed itself. I don't know how the mods did it. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
FCMacbeth
'Un-graying the MLB' is a great idea. I can see may different possibilities for teams with loads of designs and identities! My only gripe is how many traditionalists would give it a thumbs down and just want the grey road to stay.
GriffinM6
Up next are the Colorado Rockies. I think we can all agree that their current identity has gotten incredibly stale, so what better way to liven it up by making a lavender uniform?. I decided to go with a western style font for the wordmark and numbers as well. I think eventually I'd like to make a full Rockies redesign based on this look. Closeup of the wordmark. GriffinM6
Up next are the Kansas City Royals. They will be going back to the wonderful powder blue uniforms they used in the 80s, but with the modern script, patches, and striping. They will also have a gold road alternate uniform. GriffinM6
No comments on the last two? Anyway, here's the Miami Marlins. They need to take advantage of using the beautiful shade of blue they've had since 2012 and what better way to do it than by making it the color of an entire uniform?Additionally, I really struggled finding a way to make the hat logo look good in a color where it wasn't black, and this scheming seemed the best to me. Hope y'all like it!
mvk
What would it look like if you swapped black and pink on the hat?
coco1997
So far so good. 'm not totally sold on the new Rockies wordmark and cap logo. Can we see that same colored concept but using their current scripts and numbers? I'd love to see the Marlins in monochrome ocean blue!

Personally though, I'm not a fan of their current look. They have way too good of a color scheme to be using boring fonts like they do.
mvk
Make the hat pink, and where there is pink in the M and Marlin, make that black.
