Baseball Reference did this a year ago; I thought that it was already official.

There must be some slight differences between the Major League Baseball numbers and the Baseball Reference numbers, as Major League Baseball has Josh Gibson's lifetime average at .372, while Baseball Reference has it at .373.

I see that Minnie Miñoso now has more than 2000 hits.  The biggest difference that I noticed as of last year's Baseball Reference decision is that Monte Irvin now becomes a career .300 hitter.  These things are important when one is playing the Immaculate Grid every day.

Willie Mays doesn't gain any home runs, though John Thorn says that there is one game in limbo due to the lack of a published boxscore.  So I guess it is still possible.  Also, Hank Aaron played in the Negro Leagues in 1951; however, the Baseball Reference officialisation of Negro League stats covers the years 1920 to 1948.  If the Majors follow the same guidelines, then, even if Aaron had hit homers in that season, they won't increase his career total.

Did he become a Milwaukee Brewers fan? Guess he could not take the Mets anymore lol

Barstool arranged for him to be here. I know he was on Steve Czaban's morning show today. (Czabe is in Milwaukee, albeit virtually, these days)

For the right price, anyone here would let themselves be flown to various ballparks to embarrass themselves.

Speaking of figures, he actually looks like he's lost weight.  Good for him.  Hopefully he's avoiding the spicy chicken wings.

Watching Sunday Night Baseball for the first time all year.

I really hate listening to Eduardo Perez' voice.  It's almost painful to me.  I'm not sure if it's nasaly or what, but I really hate when he talks.

Along the lines of what I hate, I hate that Taijuan Walker is being handed a spot in the Phillies rotation just because he has a huge (wasted) contract, rather than either DFA him or turn him into the "long" guy in the 'pen that only pitches in blowouts.

Spencer Turnball was on fire to start the year, and was demoted to the 'pen when Walker came back, and it's 100% only due to money.  Just write it off as a loss and put his overpaid worthless ass on the bench.

I keep reading stats and columns that say the Phillies have the best statistical rotation in the league right now, and one of the best (through 60ish games) in history, but this goof is going to ruin it all.  And they have better options that they just won't use.  Sometimes you just gotta eat a bad contract, or trade the guy for whatever you can get and hope that the other team picks up 1/4 of his salary.

Gabe Kapler is the gift that keeps on giving.  I miss this guy:

His TikToks are... something (don't worry... the link is not to TikTok):

JT Realmuto proving again that he's the Phillies most important player, even if not their best one.  With him on the DL, they're back to sucking or barely squeaking by teams, and have opened the door for the Braves.  I'll never ever ever count the Braves out until there's literally no life in their bodies, but a 10-game cushion felt pretty good.

Trea Turner coming back soon, but he's refused his rehab assignment so he'll likely be very rusty - and his fill-in has been exceptional, so it's not like it'll even be an upgrade (unless he moves to outfield... which is a possibility.)

I'm also convinced that some members of the media are secretly working for the team, as all they're writing now is about how Taijuan Walker has been good and people should get off his back.  1.5 decent games doesn't mean he's been good, and the fact that they have a much better option sitting on the bench is disgusting.  Even if he's good "enough", that's not good enough right now.

Also, the most idiotic point that any sports fan can make about any team in any sport is "they peaked too soon".  What the hell does that mean?  Should the coach have them coast and play .500 until the end?  I really don't get it.  You can "peak" in May, which allows you to get to October, and even your sub-peak level might be good enough to win it all - but just play and let the baseball gods sort it out.

Maybe don't push players past their limits just to win a May game against some loser-ass team, or keep a guy in a no-hitter when he's already thrown 120 pitches, but I'm not sure how people expect that a team should hold itself back from "peaking".  That's simply not how it works.
