DGivens87
Isn't that dude from Men in Black, the Mets player who sees the spaceship in the outfield and completely misses a fly ball? I know, I know, it's Bernard Gilkey. A large cheese pizza, just for me.New England's source for soccer newsAnd hey, I made it to ESPN!

Discrim
why all the hate for white hats? they were better than the black ones, that's for sure. A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull
nugent4president
As much as people seem to dislike the history of Met uniforms (and I'll admit most of them are big misses), you have to at least give them credit for willing to adjust and try and tweak things. The Mets are one of the most unique teams in the majors, and they certainly market themselves as the alternative to that other squad in the New York area. There willingness to update, and at least put a patch on their jerseys now and then, makes them Pepsi to the Yankees Coke.
vini
at least it is better than what they have now that hideous black hat with the blue bill sucks. they should really go back to regular blue cap with the orange ny that was a nice hat. the red sox did the white hat thing a couple of years back for sunday afternoon home games i guess it never really caught on but i bought one for my dad on fathers day that year and he still sports it. i don't mind the whit hat as much as all the teams that now have black hats, royals d-backs,mets white sox the marlins. i hate the angels red hat they should have a navy blue cap red bill with the red a and the yellow halo going around it like in the 80's another classic hat. the phillies hat sucks they should go back to the maroon color hat with the p with the little baseball inside it. padres should definitely go back to the brown and yellow cap that was unique everybody has the same plop these days navy blue, black or red gimme a break. that is my rant for baseball hats. oh and by the way the nationals could have done alot better than what they are using. the interlocking dc would have been a much better looking cap and i think somone on this board actually came up with a home and away alt using the dc seal logo thing on the jerseys it looks much better than the generic looking hats and uni's they came up with. Pat
I agree with Vini. I love originality, and uniqueness. Pads in Brown and Yellow, Phils in maroon, Angels with that sweet halo ring. Thats also why I love the Bengals helmets (but for some reason i hate the eagles helmet. cant stand them). I think if a white hat was executed well it'd be awesome. Much better than a crap ass black scheme. Proud owner of the Utah Pioneers of the Continnental Baseball League.PACKER BACKER FOREVER!

FiddySicks
when i was posting my concepts earlier this week i thought to my self. "i wonder why the Mets dropped the white hats?" then i realized why. Because they suck. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) NYRangers
I am a die hard Met fan who is very disappointed with the Mets adding Black to their uniforms. I am an admitted traditionalist who likes the Orange an Blue look for the Mets. To me, anything else is just not right. The alt uni would have looked good with the traditional blue and orange cap. DomainMaster
I think the white hats looked pretty good (when used in moderation). The times the Red Sox used the red hats and white hats I thought they looked pretty good - and I'm really old-school. What I really would have liked was a gray with navy-billed road hat. I used to LOVE the Royals' gray hat though I never really liked the Orioles' gray.
Yac12
Don't forget about the Pirates gray hat with the black bill. Those looked sharp.
VitaminD
They're bad, but not quite in the same league as the Reds' white with red pinstripes debacle. That combines one bad idea (white hats) with another (let's add pinstripes!). Sheesh...And the Mets are about the only team that should be allowed the hideous combination of black and blue. If they're (still) paying tribute to the Brooklyn Dodgers (blue & white) and the NY Giants (black & orange), it's a nice homage to the past. If it's just for marketing and joining every other team that had to add black for sales, then that's bad form - orange and blue conveyed enough links to the past. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17. That combines one bad idea (white hats) with another (let's add pinstripes!). Sheesh...Not only did I own a pinstriped Reds hat, the C was sequined. I loved that hat. (please bear in mind i was 10) For real though, I loved the Reds hat of that time. As for the white Mets hat, I don't think I do like that too much at all. I'm with the purists on this one. Gimme the classic blue and orange. Also gimme the 86 World Series uniforms. They haven't looked right since.
mustangdmg
Yikes. Playing with a white hat in DC, Atlanta or Miami, you'll see a piss-yellow color stain by 4th inning. The Arizona High School Helmet Project
Gothamite
why all the hate for white hats? they were better than the black ones, that's for sure. Oh, I couldn't agree more. The Mets used to have a great look, then they sold it out in the name of merchandising dollars. I can't believe there's anyone who's willing to see anything admirable in what the Mets have done with their uniforms in the last decade. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
