Oh i hope not. First lynch and now Rice? Why? San Fran has really shown how bad of an Organization they really are if they drop the ball on this Jerry Rice thing.

He'll soon find out that Jake Plummer is no Joe Montana or Steve Young ... of course, neither was Matt Hasselbeck.

How could Denver possibly want Jerry Rice when FredEx is available??Β  :P

Especially with all the headcases Denver has brought in this offseason.

And OfficeGlenn, Jake Plummer may not be Joe Montana or Steve Young -- but he did, just last season, set the Broncos record for most TD passes and passing yardage in a season -- not so shabby considering that number 7 guy that played here for a while.

Is that an Elway comparison?? :therock:

I dunno if i'd take it that far.

I never compared him to Elway. What I'm saying is that although people like to think he sucks and had a bad year last year -- it was still a very solid season.

And speaking of headcases, Plummer isnt the most level guy either

I can see no indignity in competing for a job that you want. If he wants to continue to play and he finds a team willing to pay him for his services, who are you to tell him that he shouldn't take it?

I'll never agree with the retiring on top theory.

Rather, retire on your own terms. That might mean retiring on top. If you'd rather play till your body can't take it and nobody wants to take you (and I mean nobody...Rice is doing everything he can to find somebody right now), that's awesome too.

It'll be interesting to see what number Rice would wear, as Rod Smith currently wears #80.

Even though Rice obviously can't produce like he used to be able to -- it'll be great to have him in Denver to mentor younger WR's like Ashley Lelie and Darius Watts -- both have some serious talent which Lelie showed last year. Instilling his work ethic into a guy like Lelie, who admitted that until this past year, relied on his talent and did the bare minimum to get by, could do wonders for him.
