TFoA
World Scrabble Championship. I was joking about this a few months back on the boards, but, lo and behold, there it was (in primetime)Also, the EXTREME JUGGLING FEDERATION with the fat guy from Penn and Teller as the play-by-play. All of this was on the Exciting Sports Programming Network.
Plaid Paint
You guys should have seen ESPN back in the early days.
slapshot
ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. It's not a 100% sports channel. Never was. Poker is more entertainment than athletics, but it's a leisure activity that's also competitive. Same with spelling bees, but it's good to see the channel put emphasis on education once in a while. MadmanLA
--any current original program on Fox Sports Net (outside of live telecasts and Beyond the Glory) Fox Sports Net would be off air because thats all it does. That maybe true, but most, if not of all their current original show are pretty bad to watch, although I do like The Baseball Report. If you remember the original stuff that FSN first came out with when they started in 1997, they were on the right track to challenge ESPN. But when they got scared (for lack of a better term) when ESPN truly became the juggernaut it is now, FSN just gave up and put crap like the Best Damn Sports Show on. It also doesn't help that it can't stick to on-air identity for their regional networks (i.e. Fox Sports [region] to Fox Sports Net [region] to just Fox Sports Net to now FSN [region]) for longer than three years. As for SportsCenter, I just want the news. It became more personality-driven instead of just reporting about the day in sports. I don't care for or about the personality factor, like who has best catch-phrase or who can out-scream the next guy. I much rather watch ESPNews. Stampman
I like watching darts--my answer would be ballroom dancing, figure skating, and any "sports" invented so they can fill airtime... Discrim
worst thing IMO-poker. I don't play poker, I have zero interest in learning how to play and I damn well have no interest in watching it. plop, leave it to the Travel channel or whatever it used to be on. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given usthe freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes theflag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, andwho allows the protester to burn the flag."Marine Chaplain Dennis Edward O' Brien
