FiddySicks
Oh no. How terrible that something as positive as a game of football could turn so terrible
Puckguy14
Just heard that on ESPN. Interesting on what happened here then. Apparantly, he was on the last scoring drive with 2 seconds left in the game. And KPIX, the provider of the 49ers game here in San Francisco had footage of him walking off the field, and looked fine. Just shocking.
Puckguy14
Guys, if you want to add, I'll have this up all season:http://members.aol.com/puckguy14/herrion.gif
lost_limey
I know this is tasteless, but when do you think ESPN/SF Chronicle will run the first story linking this to 'roids with absolutely no proof whatsoever?Just to clarify, I think it's a tragic an dunfortunate incident. Reminds me of Marc-Vivien Foe dying while playing soccer for Cameroon, but I'm making a point about media vultures.
Puckguy14
who knows. limey. but the autopsy will interesting. The team practices in Santa Clara where the temperatures are mild if not comfortable in the mid70s to at most upper 80s on average. And conditions in Denver were in the 60s tonight. FiddySicks
Whats really strange is that almost every site has this as the lead story but NFL.com still has him listed as rushed to the hospital and 49ers.com gives absolutely no mention

RyanB06
Whats really strange is that almost every site has this as the lead story but NFL.com still has him listed as rushed to the hospital and 49ers.com gives absolutely no mention It's up on the Niners' site - there's a statement from the team that mentions it.I'd expect that once the Web guys show up to work there will be more information.[EDIT: And I was correct. More info now available.]
NJTank
He just played in NFL Europe too so he had to atleast be in some sort of playing shape. Im sure he had a physical before camp too. This is a shocker I heard it on the late SC last night and it didnt sound good using CPR is always trouble.
Seadragon76
This is shocking to me as well. What gets me is that he could of been in real great shape. Now, I could be wrong about that. But, it does make you wonder how far do these players need to push themselves in order to become a good football player. JQK
A freak and tragic happenstance. It's like one of those "One in a Million" deals.A true shame if there ever was one.
schlim
This is shocking to me as well. What gets me is that he could of been in real great shape. Now, I could be wrong about that. It's sad, and I'm not diminishing his death at all, but the man was 6'3 and 310 lbs. Don't you think that may have played a role in his demise too? Korey Stringer was 6'4 346, and despite whatever phyical condition these guys are in, doesn't their sheer physical size lend itself more readily to higher strains like playing football in pads and heat for 3+ hours? Sabrejeff
Whats really strange is that almost every site has this as the lead story but NFL.com still has him listed as rushed to the hospital and 49ers.com gives absolutely no mention NFL Network didn't have anything on their scoreboard at the bottom until 3 this afternoon. And the first few times it scrolled by it said Steve Herrion.
