jkrdevil
Hey I'm wathcing the Mets-Nationals game on ESPN and I noticved the Nats changes their alternate logo they were on the sleeves. The DC in a circle logo no longer has Washington Nationals written on it Instead it just has stars where the text was.

AND WHY HTE HELL ARE THE METS WEARING THE TWO TONE HELMETS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! apparently they aren't the only ones with that style of helmet, but they may be the only with a two-tone version. The Rays wear that style and it is solid green and actually looks nice.
Survival79
I like how they carried over the 9 stars representing the 9 defensive players of a baseball team from the primary:I don't like how much blue they used. I have nothing against the new style, id doesnt look too bad and its probably safer, but the two toned spray paint thing looks so Little League World Series/Team USA Womans Softball. Its awful. rtoon
with the change of the nationals patches this year, it would then make last year's patches their `inaugural' season patches ... was odd they didn't use the word inaugural on their patch last year as was done for the last 2 newly added teams, d-backs and d-rays ... do you think this is why they made the change ? Gothamite
I don't like how much blue they used. Neither do I - I think it would look so much better if the middle of the circle was red.Still, not too bad at all. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. BallWonk
I don't like how much blue they used. I think the new patch has the proportions of the colors exactly what they should be on the Nats uniforms in general: 70% blue, 20% red, 10% gold, with white as needed. Makes me wonder, though, taking the words "Washington Nationals" off that patch. Selig has always said he wants the new owners to have a chance to rename the team (assuming the doddering old fool ever gets around to deciding whose $450 mil is good enough for him to accept). That patch could easily become a primary logo next year, in theory the last year at RFK and the final year before the team would be allowed to rename itself, allowing the team to ease into a new name while keeping a certain continuity of merchandising built around the DC logo. Gothamite
You're presuming that there is a need for, or a benefit of, a "certain continuity of merchandising". I don't think there's any evidence to support that for such a young club. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
stupidsuck
so, the Nats really are wearing the new patch with the home uniforms today. Anyone have a better graphic of it?

Gothamite
If anything, the Nats should be changing their alt logo to something like this: I agree. The current logo is unbalanced. The dome makes the whole thing work. They used this logo on the first Opening Day tickets, and for the life of me can't figure out why they haven't used it on a regular basis. That's beautiful - your work? Nice job! HurricaneDavid
That dome logo is from the Capitals logo. And I'm pretty sure that the Nationals home opener tickets last year had an actual photo of the Capitol, not some sort of logo.
