This reminds me of the sceneiro in 1994 allot and I think the Canes will hold on.

Look who's actually saying something non-negative about Carolina.....

Does anyone else see what I saw? If they show that replay again, watch the puck. Once the puck becomes blocked by the corner post, it looks like the puck, while it's falling back to the ice, slides under the right shoulder of Steve Staios, and watch his right arm (especially his upper arm) move forward, from inside the goal line, out to just in front of the goal line, which would be under his body.

Oh, it's 2-0 now. Former Thrasher Kaberle scoring the goal....

I've learned never to count the Oilers out until they are out---ni matter how much I want to count them out.

SO GO CANES!

What a terrible way to start the CBC broadcast, playing a Nickelback song

Slightly off-topic now that we're into the 2nd period, but since you mentioned the music at the start:

This is going to come off as possibly a little harsh, and I commend her tremendously for trying, and I am sure nerves were involved to some degree, but...

...THAT was the best singer the Hurricanes could come up with to sing the anthems at Game 7 of the Cup Finals? With the (hockey) world watching? I concede that "The Star-Spangled Banner" is tough for even very good singers. But she missed more notes than she hit, and "O Canada" isn't that hard to sing at all. She sounded like a last-minute replacement, and maybe she was. And thankfully, the crowd respectfully sung BOTH anthems enthusiastically. But... Wow.

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Yeah, she's sucked all year.

The chick they had last year was much better.

I have a friend who has sung at numerous Thrashers and Hawks games this year. It takes a lot of courage to sing in front of thousands of people. Singing in front of at least 17,000 people, just before an important game, the adrenaline rush, etc. is something you just can't reproduce in rehearsal.

I thought she sang pretty good. Simple, heartfelt, positive, nothing flashy.......just as anthems were meant to be sung. A lot better than I could ever wish to do......

2 man advantage for EDM for almost 2 mins. They better score here.

*BZZZT*

Not only is Carolina stretching the ice when they want, but they are beating up the Oilers too, something we haven't really seen in the playoffs.

20 more minutes of regulation to go...

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

WOW, and since this was the OFFICIAL WINNERS THREAD I thought I'd get to see who won early.

Oh well.

Go Canes.
