No real superstars, but strong pitching, a sneaky good offense. Going thru the Yankees on the way is always a plus.Unless you're a Cubs fan, you gotta like the classic Cardinals. Amazing tradition. First season in a new park. Albert is on his way to a place in the pantheon w/ Ruth, Williams, DiMaggio, Mays, Aaron.And it'd be the best uniform combo match-up in baseball. Old English D. You would figure with the 100+ year tradition in Detroit it would have happened atleast once.I'm rooting for a Cards-Tigers World Series. Overall I want Detroit to take the whole thing.But I'm pleading for a series that is somewhat exciting. Gorgeous.And the best part of all.....no colored alternate jerseys!I like the Tigers just because they remind me so much about the 1991 Braves, as far as how their team was built from the previous two seasons and the way their young pitchers became really good. Verlander and Robertson look like a young Smoltz and Glavine, with one vet pitcher (Kenny Rogers now, Charlie Leibrandt then), a veteran manager in his first full season (Leyland now, Cox then), and signing some veteran free agents (Ivan Rodriguez now, Terry pendleton then). Then the Tigers are just a feel good story. They lost 119 games a few years ago, they're making a turnaround you only see in the NFL. They've got to be, without a doubt, the feel-good story of the whole year. Then Kenny Rogers just turned into Kevin Costner from "For Love of the Game". I've got no choice but to root for them. As a fan who respects good fans I have to root for the Cardinals in the NLCS. Overall I think they've just got the best mix of knowledge of the game, awareness of game situations and reactions to those situations, and just great character personality-wise. So Tigers, Cardinals...and as a sports fan I'm hoping it goes 7 with every game being a classic. Let's see if they can make it more exciting than the 1991 series. -DanielCheck Out My Podcast! I would love to see his team back in the series. AL? A's. For many reasons. I was born in Castro Valley, CA which is about a hop, skip, and a jump from the Coliseum, my mother (whos #1 is and will forever be the Giants) also is a big A's fan. hell, one of her first dates with my dad was at an A's game. I worked with the A's all through high school and have really gotten to know this A's team. My favorite baseball team in the whole world is the Sacramento RiverCats, Oakland's AAA team. That being said, Detroit has the upper hand right now, and if they go to the WS ill be ok with that. Ive always pulled for Detroit sports (except for the Red Wings) and would be happy to see them do well. Still really dissapointed though because I have tickets to game 1 if Oakland pulls a miracle. If its the Cards vs A's my dad would have been able to go to his first World Series game and his team favorite team play, and I would love to be the one to give him that opportunity, and this year I ahd that opportunity but it seems to be quickly slipping away. So if Oakland loses itll be especially dissapointing, but still, not much can beat a Cards Tigers World Series in my mind. I'd like Tigers/Mets, and I do believe that will be it.The most intriguing question of the World Series is whether or not the NL wins a game this year because this Tigers team is coming into this series on a roll like the Red Sox and White Sox in the past two years -- and like the those two teams, they're a great 'feel good' story. You just have to have that feeling at this point... and I've had it since they punched New York right back in the mouth in Game 2 of the ALDS.
