An old trend not likely to reappear

there are two highschool football teams that play every year at thanksgiving or christmas i think, and one team has vertical stripes all along the jerzey except for the sleeves, it looked weird. their color scheme was maroon and grey. it was on espn this year, i dont know if anyone else saw it.

Yeah that is a huge rivalry in PA and NJ, Easton vs. Phillipsburg. They played their 100th game in 06 so they wore throwbacks which were fantabulous.

With Iowa and Minnesota putting logos on the front of the uniform could that be considered the start of that trend?

I liked the Iowa jerseys they had after the one we have been talking about. They had the Hawkeye logo on the sleeves inside smaller stripes.

You win the Internet.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

I love those 2 uniforms, the Iowa and the Minnesota. Mainly because the designs are UNIQUE to each school and not some cookie cutter template borrowed and borrowed. I don't think they look TOO far fetched to not be implemented as everyday uniforms...I think they could work. They both look great to me.

The Iowa and Minnesota jerseys of 1994 -- the ruination of perfectly good uniforms. Such was the slash-and-burn design tactics of Apex One. Remember they had those ugly-ass Cowboys jerseys with the giant stars?

heh, I despise the Gophers. however, those were the best unis they ever had, especially considering the crap they have now (heh, I'm a Badger f. the Iowa wings weren't all that bad either, kind of a modernized 1920s look. and the Cowboys doublestars, those are sort of my personal holy grail. Been wantin one for damn near 12 years.

stripes are struggling, at least in American football. but in European and international soccer, well...

and

are just two of the teams who use hoops-style stripes for uniforms. Many teams use vertical stripes too.

guess it's just suited for some uniform styles better than others.

And what about that one?

They've never really left football. or hockey for that matter...

Although the NFL referees did get updated uniforms this past season...but still held on to the stripes.
