lol, the cracker-riffic Houston Astros celebrating the Negro Leagues

That's a bit uncalled for. Yes, the Astros have no black players, but come on man...you can do better than that.

Pretty badly worded, no doubt, but I gotta say the man has a good point. Kinda strange that a team is celebrating the players of a certain culture (for lack of a better term) by wearing their unis, yet doesn't have anyone of that culture on their team. Its kind of like a team creating special olympics day, yet having no wheelchair ramps or other handicapped access into the stadium. It does seem a bit empty and meaningless when they themselves aren't doing much to accommodate the point of the celebration.

well Kanye West did say that Bush didn't like black people. Bush is from texas. The houston astros are from Texas. Maybe the houston astros don't like black people? Didn't bush own the astros at one time or am i thinking of the Texas Rangers?

ok not all that funny. actually the Astros do have Carlos Lee, Humberto Quintero, while not black but are latino and the Negro leagues did pave the way for not only blacks but other minority groups like hispanics, asians, latinos etc. What the Astros need to do is cut 2/3 of the team and set aside those spots for people of color in proportion to the number of minorities in the league.

I found that joke amusing myself. I just think it seems weird that a team like Houston, which has little to no history in the Negro Leagues, would do something like this.

Personally, I have a better idea for tonight: Have Houston sport the rainbow jerseys from the 70's and have the White Sox sport their jerseys from the 70's... That's right! Rainbow jerseys vs. the Bermuda Shorts FTW!!

Houston is the road team in this game, so it's more the White Sox screw-up than the Astros.

Also, if Houston needs to add African-American players to get to 8% of their MLB roster, does Tampa Bay need to cut a few to get under the threshold?

Remember, this is Texas, where the legislature once held a day to honor the disabled - who had to be carried up the stairs to the gallery - passed a resolution in their honor, and invited them to STAND AND BE RECOGNIZED.

Not to nitpick, but the Special Olympics are for the mentally disabled, not physically disabled.

You know, it's wierd how some of the people complaining about that sarcastic post up there were some of the one's automatically associating flat-brimmed/crazily-designed New Era fitteds with black thugs who rob banks/beat people up/etc.

IIRC people never made a racial connection to ugly NE caps, just a connection to the "gangsta" lifestyle.
