cranium
The White Sox and Astros are supposed to play a Negro League game on 6/9. Any ideas what the Astros might wear? It would be really odd if they didn't wear some sort of a throwback.

Jigga
lol, the cracker-riffic Houston Astros celebrating the Negro LeaguesThat's a bit uncalled for. Yes, the Astros have no black players, but come on man...you can do better than that. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Kinda strange that a team is celebrating the players of a certain culture (for lack of a better term) by wearing their unis, yet doesn't have anyone of that culture on their team. Its kind of like a team creating special olympics day, yet having no wheelchair ramps or other handicapped access into the stadium. It does seem a bit empty and meaningless when they themselves aren't doing much to accommodate the point of the celebration. Bush is from texas. The houston astros are from Texas. Maybe the houston astros don't like black people? Didn't bush own the astros at one time or am i thinking of the Texas Rangers? ok not all that funny. actually the Astros do have Carlos Lee, Humberto Quintero, while not black but are latino and the Negro leagues did pave the way for not only blacks but other minority groups like hispanics, asians, latinos etc. What the Astros need to do is cut 2/3 of the team and set aside those spots for people of color in proportion to the number of minorities in the league. Seadragon76
I found that joke amusing myself. I just think it seems weird that a team like Houston, which has little to no history in the Negro Leagues, would do something like this.Personally, I have a better idea for tonight: Have Houston sport the rainbow jerseys from the 70's and have the White Sox sport their jerseys from the 70's... That's right! Rainbow jerseys vs. the Bermuda Shorts FTW!!
M59
Houston is the road team in this game, so it's more the White Sox screw-up than the Astros. Also, if Houston needs to add African-American players to get to 8% of their MLB roster, does Tampa Bay need to cut a few to get under the threshold?
