I think its more plain than classy. fine line between the two. borders on boring for me. and then the edgy ovals around it seem out of place.

No no! You see, if the Yankees are involved, it's "classy." If not, then it's just plain and boring.

I say plain, not classy, just because what the heck does Trajan or whatever Times New Roman variant this thing uses have to do with the Yankees? If the ultra-plain lettering matched, say, the Yankees script logo or the away jersey script or the Tiffany NY logo, then this would be classy rather than plain. But with the actual font used, this is a freakin' Microsoft Word clipart project.

Hopefully the BP jerseys will be inspired by Yankees logo elements rather than by the All-Star Game logo. Pinstripes with a Tiffany AL crest and dark blue with block white "National" perhaps, or "American" and "National" in the Yankees' logo script.

There is nothing Ball Wonk said that I don't agree with. Furthermore, I would actually pay for an interlocking AL jersey.

I also think the logo on a white background would have been better served by doing a complete colour swap between the white and blue elements. Blue pinstripes on white, good. White pinstripes on blue, BAD.

Of the last 50 ASGs, 22 have been held in cities now in either league's Central division. Only two teams have hosted three ASGs in the last 50 years, both now in the NL Central: Pittsburgh and Houston.

add Oakland to the list of teams with a new stadium coming up.

I love the logo but the only problem I have is the pinstripes, because as we can see all of them dont appear clear, and you see some lines clearer than others.

The image is sized down for forum display, and the non-matching lines are an artifact of that process. Click the black bar above the image to see it in full size. Even then, there is some discrepancy, but it's not nearly as bad.

It really annoys me that the "N.Y.C." has periods but the "ASG" doesn't.

I like the alternate version with the "Yankees" script better, but overall I think some of the past logos have been better.

I have also noticed a trend that started in 2005 with the host team reference (logo or script) being replaced by the "Major League Baseball" tagline in the primary logo. Does anyone know why?

Add the Angels to the list of teams with a new stadium since their last ASG, since the field was completely renovated in 1997.

The "N.Y.C." on the primary logo bothers me too. It just looks out of place and it bothered me as soon as I saw it. On this logo it makes the whole thing looks unbalanced. I agree that the overall design looks "classy" for a lack of better words.

Ugggh. It seems like the ASG and World Series logos just keep getting worse every year.

Arent the Jays rumoured to be trying to get the 2009, 2010, 2011, or 2012 All star game? I swore I heard something like that.

They tried for 2008 but it was obvious that would go to NYC... you gotta figure NYC will get another one soon when the new Mets stadium, CitiField, opens (and they haven't hosted since 1964)

I could see the Jays getting it again in the 2010s sometime - Minnesota and Oakland will be the only AL teams with new stadiums (excluding the Yankees hosting in 2008).

The AL should host in 10, 12, 14, 16, 18; throw two of those to new stadiums, one to KC, one to Anaheim, and that leaves a Toronto vs Tampa Bay showdown - while an ASG in Tampa Bay might be a great idea to build up some interest I'd be surprised if MLB chooses to hold the all-star events in that stadium

After seeing the NBA allstar logo set my standards have gone up.

Normally i'd like this logo, but it's not doin it for me.

I mean, parts of it are cool, but just something about it doesn't seem like a good all star game logo too me.

Seems more of like an arena logo... IMO

I agree completely. It looks like Monmouth Park is hosting the MLB All-Star Game. It has the feel of a NJSEA venue logo:
