scootrdice
It could be the Univ of San Diego. I believe their colors are similar to that hat, or it could be a fashion for just the city or a clever way to get around RBK and have it represent the Chargers.Anyways, that is really not a bad looking hat. It is simple and with the white crown and blue bill. Very nice.

BallWonk
It might be from the years when San Diego had a minor league (Pacific Coast League) team called the Padres.I don't recognize it as a PCL Padres logo, which isn't conclusive since my knowledge of the PCL pretty much ends at the '57 season, but the particular shape of the serifs on the D is strongly suggestive of this being a post-1968 design. I'd guess 1996 or more recent, from the shape of the D and the outline on the letters, but that's pure guesswork. But perhaps I'm wrong and this is a PCL-era Padres cap made for a throwback game?Nice logo, though, whether it's for San Diego or South Dakota or Social Distortion. Well, it would need to be ripped up some to work for the band.

The only reason I say that is because of the serifs on the D. Plainsman Parking Lot. Auburn Baseball Blog
larrypep
It's not an old USD hat, the D did not have the serif as this design. The "D" really looks like the style font used by the Padres. I'm still perplexed as to what this could be, it must be some offbeat designer hat made for the Padres.
ManCalledAmp
Well, I can't tell what it is, but I can tell what it isn't. It doesn't look like a current hat for UCSD, USD, or SDSU. State uses their Red & Black interlocking logo on black or on a red crown with white front panels; USD was already posted; and UCSD seems to only wear an interlocking "UC" logo.Personally, I'm stumped...it's not even a quirky cap on Lids.com, it seems. Go Gators. Go Blue Raiders. Go Commodores. Go USC Trojans.Preds & Avs. Braves, Rays, & Dodgers. Titans, Colts, Broncos, Cardinals. Grizzlies. 14ers, Jam. Team Spirit + Laziness = Yay. dvlstnk
i think its just a different logo for the padres that new era made....they do it all the time...like they made a new york rangers hat with intertwined NYR on it...

SabreGuy
Is it wrong that I'm REALLY interested in what this cap is? And that I feel like I'll be TOTALLY disappointed if I find out it's just a throwaway fashion cap logo?
