illwauk
I actually like New York Football Giants. It ties the teams heritage to a time when the sports landscape was much different.I wonder why no one ever said "St. Louis Football Cardinals" though...Well, sometimes Chris Berman even refers to the Jets as "the New York Football Jets", as if they were ever in any danger of being confused with the erstwhile WHA/NHL outfit in Winnipeg.Yeah...and he calls the NFC North the NFC Norris-which also got old years ago.... and was never accurate because, there was (and still) no NFL team based in Toronto Well.. when Berman first started saying it, both the Packers and Leafs hadn't won a title since 1967...Yea, it's a reach, but interesting nonetheless... JQK
THey are and always will be the Football Giants. While i understand your point, the tradition of the name and the fact that it just might still be the official name of the franchise allows the name to still be said as such and not sound foolish. Not telling you you MUST refer to them as the Football Giants, but don't tell others that they can't call them the New York Football Giants... LEWJ
Time and time and time again, I have heard "the New York FOOTBALL Giants". I understand that they had to be called that prior to 1958, before the New York BASEBALL Giants hightailed it to Frisco, but it's been FIFTY BLESSED YEARS!!!!!!!! There is ONLY a New York Giants FOOTBALL team now, and technically, they're not even from NEW YORK anymore! I wish they'd stop it. It's very old, it's over, just call them the Giants for corn sake!(Rant mode off)...So is saying "Frisco." Also, some of your commas are incorrectly placed.Try the Frisco Melt at Steak N Shake. It's the best thing you'll ever eat. |Â BROWNS | BUCKEYES | CAVALIERS | INDIANSÂ | Â

Mac the Knife
That looks so good! Are there Steak N Shake's in Canada? I've never seen one here.To be honest, you aren't missing all that much - the burgers are about a half-step down from Wendy's, at about one and a half times the price. The salads are actually good though, and their 'specialty' sandwiches are a hit n' miss proposition - they're either really good, or downright ****.Haven't tried their FRISCO stuff though. SEMOSTLfan
Wow, this thread got off topic really quick As for the name of the Giants....calling them the football Giants makes about as much sense as saying the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals. The football Cardinals only left 20 years ago and we managed to drop the specific sport reference in the name. However, tradition is tradition and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Mac the Knife
Perhaps to show the idiocy of it in modern parlance, the baseball team should start calling itself the Frisco Baseball Giants...

Even now I hear "Football Cardinals" plenty.Wouldn't be surprised if that's mostly from Berman though. Sodboy13
Do they use Crisco in FRISCO?From my understanding, in certain communities, it is slathered liberally. Now, let's all go to Hardee's, and settle our differences over a nice Frisco Breakfast Sandwich. It's served on sourdough, which as we all know, is the bread universally associated with the Frisco area. Sounds Frisco-licious.
