rainmaker17
http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news...1cedarpark.htmlWell, I'm excited. I wonder what happens to Iowa...and the Ice Bats?
illwauk
Probably nothing happens to Iowa, other than an affiliation switch.
Ez Street
Ice bats were left for dead a while ago. the size of their current home is keeping them from drawing better. @DavidStreeter
Lee.
As long as they keep that jersey set, I don't care where they play. Welcome to DrunjFlix
Seadragon76
Yeah, screw you Dallas. The nerve of them ditching the Stars.Well, that just means someone can move in and be the new affiliate for Iowa. I think Minnesota would be a great choice. illwauk
Given that the Wild's new owner is from the Milwaukee area, that's probably where the affiliation is going...

TBGKon
I assume this will be the dormant Edmonton franchise, right? Not sure, but I bet that's what it'll be. I guess that means the Iowa team will be renamed to either the new affiliate or something original, not related to the parent club.

CC97
AAA?Isn't the AHL triple A? If not, my bad.I suppose compared to the baseball system it is but I don't think the hockey minor league system is ever referred to as A / AA / AAA.The only place in hockey I've seen this sort of used is the Canadian Hockey League - known as "Major Jr. A" but there are no affiliations with the NHL (in fact most Canadian Hockey League clubs are the top level of their affiliation ladder, with their lower league club in "Jr. A") --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net  "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

Since the new Austin arena won't be ready until 2010, that gives the Wild 2 years to sell off the Aeros to initiate the next round of "musical AHL affiliates".My fearless prediction of how things will ultimately shake out (assuming Austin is an expansion team and not a relocation of the Iowa franchise):Austin -> DallasHouston -> Florida (so they no longer have to share Rochester with the Sabres; this might even foreshadow an eventual move by the Panthers themselves)Iowa -> NashvilleMilwaukee -> Minnesota

rainmaker17
So where in Austin are they going to play? I thought the Ice Bats played in some tiny barn. The Bats played at the Travis County Expo Center, a rodeo barn that holds around seven thousand, until two years ago. It was actually pretty spacious. They now play at the Chapparal Center, which is a glorified kid's practice facility that holds less than two thousand. Pathetic. As far as where the new team will play, I'm not exactly sure. Cedar Park is a Northwestern suburb of Austin that is basically is a one highway town, complete with your typical Old Navy, Wal-Mart, Best Buy etc.
