I don't want to play your little reindeer games, Brass. I'm officially "too old" for this now.

My happiness related to the Super Bowl had very little to do with the teams. It was just the simple fact that Pats fans had to suck on it. Nothing personal or anything...but I think Pats fans, in general, are pompous blowhards. It was nice that they couldn't really say squat that night.

Anything that displeases my enemies makes me happy. :)

So, from now on, according to your theory, you can't argue sports any more because you don't play for the teams. Must of sucked to turn 30.

"Must of sucked...."

Edited out. That one could have gotten me in trouble...

You really should take a break... maybe until you're 30?

So, I can't challenge someone, in a hopefully friendly debate? I can't stick up for the team I support?

no, because it turns in to a 15 page flame war. it happens in almost every nhl thread between leafs/sens and in the nfl playoffs thread where it was a 15 page flame war.

They should further penalize them by making them sign Alex Smith to a longer deal....

Woo hoo! Bears move up 20 spots or so in the third round.

Should help fill one of the about 7 gaping holes they have on offense...

Rams sign Reche Caldwell to 1 year deal.

Folks may remember him for this image during the 2007 AFC Championship Game in Indy.

Way to go Rams....

I knew there was a team i forgot to add to the joke thread in the lounge. ^_^

well enough svits and giggles, i'm baffled as to why the rams would need him? unless he's being signed to wash the jock straps.

Well....the online consensus is "camp body" so you may not be too far off the mark.

I'm calling for the upset! Skins 24-Giants 20.

The Gints played in last year's Thursday Night Kickoff game as well. Maybe the 'Skins could do the same?

No?

Didn't think so, but a brotha can dream, can't he? A brotha can dream...

The Colts and Saints played in the Thursday night opener last year. The Giants opened at Dallas on Sunday afternoon last year, and at home to Indy two years ago on NBC's initial Sunday night game.

So I'm guessing that it's going to become tradition that the defending champs will always kick off the regular season on a Thursday night. I like it. :D

Back in my day, the defending champion hosted, or at least played in, the first Monday night football game.....

There's a whole thread about the possible 'hair rule' but it's surprising no one is commenting on the other proposed rule changes. From nfl.com:

===

- Changing the playoff seeding so that a wild-card team could get home-field advantage in a first round game if it has a better regular-season record than a division winner.

- Ending the forceout rule on receptions and interceptions. Currently, the play stands if a player is forced out of bounds making a catch. If changed, a player must get both feet down in bounds under all circumstances.

- Eliminating the 5-yard "incidental facemask" penalty. Grabbing the facemask and turning it would lead to an automatic 15-yard penalty.

- Instant replay on field-goal attempts. This was proposed in part because of a game last season in which Cleveland's game-tying field goal against Baltimore appeared to hit the crossbar and bounced back on the field. It was eventually ruled to have hit the support stanchion behind the crossbar and was good. The Browns went on to win in overtime.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. This completely devalues winning the division in the first place by taking away the only meaningful thing that comes with it (the banner is not meaningful). If NFL teams want home field in the playoffs, they should simply get it done when it counts against their divisional foes.

So say an 9-7 divisional winner faces off with a 10-6, maybe 11-5 wild card team. You really think that the team that went 8-8 in a bad division should have home field over a team that won more games, but played in a tougher division?

I mean, I see where you're coming from. I just agree with the NFL. The only meaningful thing that comes from winning the division is an automatic playoff berth, IMO. It doesn't matter how you get in and where you play once you get in, just that you get in. The Steelers that won SB XL and last year's Giants can attest to that.
