...Are we forgetting anything else? <_<

[Cubs related pictures.]

Since the losing streak continues, I'll go ahead and tack on one more...

Some have actually blamed him. The late Bernie Mac singing Take Me Out moments before the Cubs' colossal meltdown during Game 6 of the '03 NLCS.

Yeah, but thankfully you aren't one of them. You blame Bartman instead.

Troubling news on the Southside as Carlos Quentin breaks wrist hitting own bat.

Quentin was injured Monday night in Cleveland. After fouling off a pitch while batting against Cliff Lee, Quentin hit his right hand on the bat as he was holding it with his left.

That's how it happened? Jesus, I had no idea. That's what I'd call bad luck. With Quentin out, we really need Thome, Konerko, Crede, Swisher to step up. God knows Swisher has been stinking up the place like it's nobodies business.

The Cubs were up 3-1 and Ronny Cedeno makes an error on an easy play, and possibly a double-play to end the game. The Reds schored twice on that play to tie it up. Then the next batter singled in the winning run. That game hurt, but luckily Milwaukee lost again and the lead is still at 3.5 games.

Well, thanks to CC's Jays for sweeping the Rays, but they can feel free to stop winning any time now.

Red Sox have gotten themselves into great position -- The AL East, and really the best record in baseball, is still well within reach. I expect them to overtake the Rays here at some point because of the disparity in home games remaining for the two teams. But at the same time, last year they showed that they're willing to risk the division crown for the sake of resting some of their horses. Ultimately, though, the difference between facing the White Sox as opposed to the Angels in the first round is huge.

6.5 up in the wildcard, 1.5 in the division, and a whole lot of home games left.

You're forgetting the 7 games between our teams in the next 2 weeks... and your boys haven't exactly performed well against my boys for the last 3 years :)

But four of those games are in Boston, too. Hard to imagine you do better than split those four. And even if the Jays go 5-2 against the Red Sox down the stretch, there's still five games that need to be made up elsewhere, and considering the bulk of the Sox remaining schedule is at home, they'll be tough to catch.

Salomon Torres does his best Eric Gagne impersonation by giving up 3 runs in the 9th and blowing the game.

Here's to hoping the Brewers can get their act together. This team is brutal to watch; 2-6 on the homestand, and no game is over until both teams are in the clubhouses. 4-game series with the Phillies, the nearest pursuer in the Wildcard, should prove interesting.

Sox within a half a game after a 3-0 win tonight, Yankees getting beat pretty handily by the Angels... good night.

Not only are the Yankees going to miss the playoffs they may actually finish behind the Blue Jays

Phils are 1.5 behind the Mets for the NL East who are Wagner-less until 2010. They also have inexplicably finished their season series with the Mets despite there still being 3 weeks left in the regular season. Brilliant schedule making, MLB!

Phils are also 3 behind the Brewers for the NL Wild Card and have 4 games at home against Milwaukee starting Thursday. They may even be able to avoid Sabathia over those 4 games.

So - should the Phillies be more focused on the division or the Wild Card given these scenarios?
