PeytonManningRocks
As much as I like your LA-CHC prediction, I don't see much chance, even with Manny, that the Dodgers get past Chicago. Their pitching staffs are about equal, but the Cubs' offensive firepower is much better than the Dodgers. LA only has Manny (and I guess Andre Ethier) as legit power hitters, while the Cubs have 5 guys who hit 20 HRs.

Just out of curiosity, who in the world does LA have on that staff that match up even slightly well with Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Dempster, AND Marquis? Just out of curiosity, who in the world does LA have on that staff that match up even slightly well with Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Dempster, AND Marquis? How about Derek Lowe, Chad Billingsley, and Hiroki Kuroda?I'd give the nod to the Cubs, rotation wise, but not by very much.edit: By the way, here's their FIP's to back my argument...Harden - 3.10Zambrano - 4.29Dempster - 3.46Lowe - 3.23Billingsley - 3.33Kuroda - 3.53Now that's without looking too far into the numbers -- but based on that, I'd only take the Cubs based on Lilly being better than Maddux, who I would assume is the Dodgers #4. If they go three deep, though... it's a tossup.
njmeadowlanders
Um, tank...had the Cubs won on Sunday, the Brewers probably would've still beaten the Mets on Monday night to advance to the playoffs as the wild card anyway...so it's not like the Cubs losing forced them to face LA. They would've faced them anyway, because the Mets would've been defeated in game #163 anyway...

The same Mets team who has a horrible bullpen and can't hit with RISP? The same Mets team who lost 4 of 6 to Atlanta down the stretch? The same Mets team who would have thrown an anything-but vintage Pedro Martinez to the mound? You need me to keep going?

DEAD!
The Brewers were swept in Miller Park by the Mets I have no doubt the Mets would have won that game. What, do you have a crystal ball? What's the point? The Mets could not do what they needed to do, win as many games as the Brewers. I think they needed to do that first. Don't put the cart before the horse: Don't talk about the play-off before winning enough games. I saw, I came, I left.

The only difference between mine and yours was that I chose the words, "What, do you have a crystal ball?" and you chose the words, "What's the point?
