New Yankee Stadium Inaugural Patch

That is nice

What does the Citi Field one look like?

I haven't seen one yet. I've heard that they might wear the Citi Field logo as a patch. I hope they do something different though.

I thought there was a rule against wearing the name of corporate stadium sponsors on jerseys. That's why the Phillies didn't have "Citizens Bank Park" on their patch:

And why the Brewers didn't have "Miller Park" on theirs:

If it is a rule, then the Mets can't use the Citi Field logo since it has a giant Citi logo on it:

I did some digging, and couldn't find anything documenting a specific rule. Here's a pretty good link that discusses the matter, though:

baseball stadium patches

The way they state it, it was the choice of a couple teams, that caught on and became the standard. Closest to naming the actual sponsored stadium name was the Padres' "Say Goodbye to the Q" patch.

(Because Citifield is all about the Dodgers of course...)

Heard it before, still not very convincing.

Other than the tribute to Jackie Robinson, whose name echoes across the whole of baseball, there's very little that's Dodger-specific about Citi Field. The design of a couple of the exterior walls, and the name of a section. Hardly overwhelming.

I like it. I'm glad they didn't go with the new Stadium's logo:

I don't know that's going to be the Stadium's logo when it opens. It's only been used once, on the offering for luxury suites.

The Yankees aren't exactly shy about their logos. If they were committed to that one above, it'd be all over the place. Now, maybe it will become the Stadium's logo, but it doesn't look like it yet. Especially since the Yanks won't be wearing it on their uniforms.

I like the patch, but not as much as I liked the Farewell to Old Yankee Stadium patch. That was one of the best commemorative patches in a decade. This one's above average.

I think if the Mets do wear a patch, it wont say Citi Field on it. It will simply say "Inaugural Season 2009" with a design of Citi Field incorporated in it. The Phillies, Brewers, Tigers, Giants and Reds all do not have their cooperate sponsors on their Inaugural patches. There are also several teams with cooperate named ballpark that do not even have an Inaugural Patch .

The Minnesota Twins will have a final season patch for the Dome this season. I'm wondering what they'll do for that look...
