Update on the Horton deal.

TO BOSTON:

TO FLORIDA:

15th Overall Pick

3rd Round Pick in 2011

The Tallon era starts off on the right foot.

Nathan Horton is gonna suck eggs on a non-sham team just like Bouwmeester, but I'm not sure Wideman is really that great, so it's just a blah trade to me.

At 3 pm on Friday October 8, the Blue Jacket kick off their season from Stockholm. That's cool. For at least one day I'll know what it's like to be a west coast sports fan.

other notes on the Blue Jackets' schedule

- Home and Home with Detroit on November 26, and November 28

- December 4 at home against Pittsburgh. These recent Penguins v. Blue Jackets games in Columbus have been very successful. If it weren't for being in different conferences this would easily develop into a rivalry.

- They're playing 11 games in January, 8 of them on the road.

- they have 3 road trips of 4 games. Their longest home stand is 3 games.

- their last game against Detroit is on March 17th. This is contrary to the recent trend of leaving 2 or 3 games against the same divisional opponent until the last week.

- that's a lot of midweek home games

- ending the season with Buffalo? Por que?

Yeah just goes to show that the Heritage Classic will have little to no viewer support in the States.

Going up against "Hockey Day in America"

Feb 20th

Washington at Buffalo, 3:00 p.m.

Philadelphia at N.Y. Rangers, 3:00 p.m.

Pittsburgh at Chicago, 4:00 p.m.

Detroit at Minnesota, 6:00 p.m.

Montreal at Calgary, 6:00 p.m.

He won't. He has nothing to offer but his fading looks.

Union voted the right way, 2011 cap is 59.61 with a bonus cushion. Put away your "Patrick Sharp for a 7th?" proposals, Leafs fans.

Scott Niedermayer has officially retired after 18 seasons in the NHL.

Just to rehash his accomplishments

- 4-time Stanley Cup champion

- 2-time Olympic gold medalist

- 6-time NHL All-Star

- 3-time First Team All-Star

- 1993 All-Rookie team

- Conn Smythe trophy

- Norris Trophy

- World Cup champion

- IIHF World Champion

- IIHF World Junior champion

- Memorial Cup junior champion

- Stafford Smythe Trophy as Memorial Cup MVP

- NHL: 172 goals, 569 assists, 1263 games

- Most overtime game-winners by a defenseman with 13

- Franchise-leading defensive scorer for the Devils and Ducks

Scotty will remain with the Ducks as a consultant.

And in his press conference, Scotty actually cried. He's never been the guy to show much emotion. Even when he won the Cup, of course he was happy, but it was still slightly subdued and composed. It was weird to see him show that kind of emotion.

I'll miss his flawless skating, his deft defensive maneuvers, and his epic playoff beard.

His number #27 should hang in the rafters in New Jersey soon, and possibly in Anaheim someday (After #8, and maybe before #35).

Thanks for the memories, Scott. Good luck in all your future endeavors.
