Augusta, Ga gets an SPHL team

The SPHL just added a new member, the Augusta RiverHawks.

...Wonder how long it took the owner's nephew to fiddle around with the fonts in Illustrator and come up with THIS gem

I guess, the best case scenario is that this is a place holder for something else.... Just hope they don't decide to just roll with it a la OKC thunder... Totally right on the bankruptcy paperwork though - Every sunbelt team should just switch their logos to letterhead - never hurts to be prepared....

Augusta was announced a while ago (they just announced their new coach, that's probably why they're in the news right now). They haven't unveiled their logo yet and that is just a word mark. Whether it is permanent or not, we'll have to wait an see.

Ok, seems like they might stick with just the word mark. This is the only shot I can find of the jerseys they showed at the Press Conference so I don't know what is on the front but I think if they unveiled jerseys, thet would have also unveiled their logo officially and made a big deal about it.

This logo is a poor job, even for single A hockey.

It might just be the picture angle or something but that is the widest logo I've ever seen on the front of a jersey. His arms are out and it doesn't even look fully flat. The wings are going to tuck under his arms when he puts them down.
