New Halo color on the Angels Unis

I don't want to see "Los Angeles" on the Angels uniforms. I hope Arte Moreno has some sense slapped into him and he puts "Anaheim" back on the jerseys.

The Angels have been consistently competitive under Moreno's stewardship.

It never ceases to amaze me that some individuals would like to see the franchise return to the dark times.

Dark times? Huh? All I said was to put "Anaheim" on the jerseys. But as has been pointed out many times since you "dark" comment, the Angels have just been a series of bad losses in the playoffs to the Red Sox. That is probably what Arte Moreno will be known for. To say that Arte Moreno is a good owner, because he lowered beer prices one year, and then followed that up with questionable free agent signings... well just let the record stand for itself. Disney ownership, 1 World Championship. Arte Moreno, constant embarrassment in the playoffs followed by bad free agent signings.

Oh and for those who want to blame Dusty Baker (and I'm not a fan of his) for the Giants loss, just remember, it wasn't Dusty attempting to hit the ball, it wasn't Dusty who threw the pitches that were hit. That lies solely on the players. What was he suppose to do, leave in a gassed starter? And then Giant fans criticize him for that. The fact of the matter, is the pitchers didn't make the pitches necessary to win, don't blame that on the manager. The manager makes a move, the players are to do their jobs and execute that move.

Attributing championships to owners is an enormous fallacy. By such a metric, Jerry Reinsdorf is the greatest team owner who ever lived, rather than a stadium socialist responsible for collusion and the strike.

Nah, it looks too primitive against the current version. There'd be no sense in taking such a step backward. They could recolor the current Big A to look more like that, but they have such a good thing going as a Red Team that it wouldn't make much sense.

I wasn't suggesting using that logo with their current set; just saying I liked it (and the rest of that look for that matter) better. They do look good now though...

For the record, the Gold in the halo is EXACTLY the color that was previously used by the Angels.

However, I agree about keeping Red as the primary color; contrasts better with their cross-town rivals.

And no "Los Angeles," either, which is too bad, because vertically arched "Los Angeles" in the Angels' lettering looks really neat.

No, it doesn't.

Yes, it does.

I'd love to see that take the field when they come to Yankee Stadium.

To you it may look good, but to people of Anaheim and Orange County it is a slap to the face. We are not Los Angeles.

Perfection.

Can they just end the charade and call themselves the "Los Angeles Angels"?

You're a suburb of Los Angeles and the only reason your community is notable is due to its proximity to LA.

We wouldn't even be discussing the merit of "Anaheim" as a suitable location name if the Mighty Ducks hadn't decide to be cute and use it.

Well it's true. Was anyone claiming "they should be the Anaheim Rams" when the Rams moved to Orange County for a few years before leaving for St. Louis? No, because Anaheim, and the rest of Orange County, is just a suburb of the greater LA metro area. We're only used to it as a suitable location name because the Ducks used it (which I think stemmed from a deal they had with the Kings). Had Disney gone with "Mighty Ducks of Los Angeles" for their NHL expansion team we wouldn't think twice about a team in Anaheim using the LA name.

That's not a knock against the city of Anaheim or Orange County. I'm sure they're wonderful places to live. I'm just being realistic about that area's relationship to the city of Los Angeles.

Besides, the goal behind the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" re-branding worked. Almost everyone, aside from when they're mocking the full name, just calls them the Los Angeles Angels. So why not just embrace the reality of the situation and drop the Anaheim portion?

The Angels are covered by the Los Angeles Times, MyNetwork channel 13 out of Los Angeles, KSPN 710 out of Los Angeles, and Los Angeles-based FSN West. Quite kind of these media outlets to cover this foreign and distant land.

The Angels and Ducks are both covered as the main focus of the Orange County Register as well. The Angels and Ducks radio station, KLAA, is broadcast from Anaheim, the offices are in the Big A.

Anaheim and Orange County are in the LA media market, without a doubt, but they are not Los Angeles. They are 30 miles away.

I have no problem anymore with the LA Angels thing. They started as the LA Angels, and they don't have it on the uniforms, so I don't have to represent it when I wear Angels gear or whatever. I was a kid when the Rams were in Anaheim, but they still moved from LA to Anaheim, they were originally LA. I don't have much of a problem with that, plus again with football jerseys, there is no location on jerseys for the most part. Los Angeles Ducks, or Los Angeles Ducks of Anaheim would be really weird though. That'd be a harder sell to the fans. I mean, they started as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. They just are Anaheim. Changing the Ducks would be weird.

I still think if they go this route (and ditch the beveling, or simplicity's sake), the Angels will look their absolute best.

I didn't say anything about changing them now. What I said was that had they not gone with "Anaheim" as their location name in 1993 none of us would even consider Anaheim as an appropriate location name for a team. Had, in 1993, the Ducks gone with the Los Angeles name from the get-go then Anaheim would, today, be lumped in with locales like Orchard Park, Auburn Hills, Arlington, Landover, East Rutherford, and other smaller cities that host pro teams that use the name of a larger metropolis nearby.

Not an accurate generalization. If it was, Angels attendance would have taken a hit, which it hasn't.

I grew up in Mission Viejo, but I would pay top dollar for clothing with "Los Angeles Angels" on it. We are part of Greater Los Angeles.

The name change was necessary to keep the team competitive long-term.

I couldn't agree more. And adding a touch of gold trim would look great (Especially now since the Nationals have abandoned the gold trim it). And count me as a supporter of just going with Los Angeles Angels, but only if the don't use that ridiculous LA halo logo. Not only is it the same layout as the Dodgers LA logo but it doesn't look good either. Use the logo above as the cap logo (minus the bevels).

I've gotta disagree. The Angels have a good thing going for them as the "red" team of LA baseball.
