BigMac12
How much do you guys think it would cost to just air-lift Jobing.com Arena to Vegas? With or without a typical Coyotes crowd inside? Not that it would increase the weight substantially... (sorry I had to get an attendance joke in there).
BigMac12
Back to the appropriate topic:Does anybody have photos of the UNLV campus? I want to compare the campus' artitecture against the proposed stadium's exterior.
Mings
Try Googling it.Besides, there is no law stating it should match the campus architecture. In my educated opinion, it shouldn't. Completely different use. You can take cues from it, but there is no need to make it the same. And the dead horse thing is getting as old as your continued opposition to the demolition of jobing.com arena for a parking lot. I'm telling you, it will get more money as a tailgate lot. It was stupid in the first place to build another arena of the same size 10 miles away from downtown, which has all sorts of amenities for before and after the game. Glendale has nothing. So once again:Coyotes suck. Glendale sucks. Gary needs more asians.

You start getting into topics of stadium placement/need, which with recent renovations to both Sam Boyd and Thomas & Mack, you could certainly question the need of this stadium, although the Super Arena typology is an extremely good one.I also never mentioned UofP stadium, as it was needed. Just the abomination that is jobing.com arena. It needs to be aborted, like the Coyotes.

I've saw my first NHL game there, and it's a horrible expereince. That's all I'm saying about it and dropping it. You should do the same and just focus on the UNLV stadium. omnivore
I like what UNLV is trying to do. It's smart regardless of whether they get a pro team or not. fufkin
I don't know about that. The MWC basketball tournament is still held at Thomas and Mack every year, even though it could be held at "world class" arenas in Denver, Salt Lake and Dallas. To expand upon this point, the MWC moved their basketball tournament to Denver for 2 years after Rick Majerus whined and complained that UNLV had an unfair advantage hosting the tournament. In those 2 years, nobody went to the tournament. The league moved the tournament back to Vegas and the crowds came back. The WCC plays its tournament down the street at the smaller Orleans Arena and I believe the WAC will also be playing its tournament in that building as well. illwauk
Does anyone know what the capacity for the football and basketball configurations would be?If they could put something like this in Downtown Milwaukee, I may have to re-think my opposition to a new Bucks arena. rams80
I call shenanigans. There's no way you'd get that many people into the stadium to cheer for UNLV. Claystation360
Maybe it's me but it doesn't look so bad. I mean take in Consideration the market. But per NFL guidelines the stadium would have to hold at least 50,000 if its gonna host an NFL game. #DTWD #GoJaguars

And the Pro Bowl? Um, ask the NBA if they're planning on putting their All Star Game in vegas again anytime soon.Still, Pac12 and MWC championship football games seem like a strong possibility, and it could be a good regional or even Final Four site for the NCAA tournament. The NCAA championships sports wagering policy strictly prohibits the conducting of any championship session in a state with legal wagering that is based on single-game betting. This mixed-use project is essentially the same UNLVNow project which Majestic and UNLV came out proposing in 2011, but they have increased the stadium capacity 20,000.This is the same project which in 2011, also had no overall cost estimate then as it does now. However, this time, Majestic also wants the strip casinos and the convention/visitors agency to donate $125M for the project. This is the same project which wanted the same TIF in 2011 along with a site south of the Mandalay Bay and a downtown Las Vegas arena project, but SB501 never made it to the floor for a vote in either the Nevada House or Senate. The Nevada Legislature is one of four which has biennial sessions, they meet every other year and have two year state budgets. They started up their 2011 push for legislation at about the same time, and it still failed.
