I don't know how you guys manage to get yourself into a situation to have one "get away." (I mean that in the good way) The only thing close to sports-related clothing my local thrift stores have are cheap Michigan/Michigan State t-shirts. If I've ever seen a jersey, it was a poorly-pressed Youth jersey (and probably either UofM or MSU).

Sure you're checking in the right section? (I'm serious) Around here, they're usually designated as "active-wear shirts/tops"

I was in Value Village and found a white Colorado Avalanche Patrick Roy jersey, legit, for $20. Didn't have my wallet, and didn't got back for it...

I have the same story but a Ed Belfour Leafs jersey, I ended up buying it and my jersey closet stunk of cigarette smoke because of it

I'll take that Eddie Belfour off your hands, LOL.

To this day, I regret not buying a Mike Piazza batting practice jersey back in 1998. It was the All star game one from Colorado. To this day I can't find a blank one in an XL, and havent been able to find one with even Mcgwire or Walker I could afford to strip and repurpose.

Man I wish I had it.

Same thing with the Blue NEW YORK batting practice the mets wore when he first arrived in 1998, with the white letters.

I've got a couple:

In the summer of 1994 I was at some two-story sports store in downtown Dallas (don't know if I ever knew the name and couldn't find the location again if I tried) that had a LOT of authentic NFL jerseys from the previous few seasons, all of which still had screened-on names/numbers. They appeared to have more Saints players than anything and also had many authentic blanks, but the one that caught my eye was a home Cowboys' jersey numbered 18 with the name KOSAR on the back, 100% authentic and in size 48, with a super-long tail (almost all their jerseys had them, the first time I was made aware of this aspect of NFL tailoring). I remember it being pricey but I had the cash on me to buy but was going to be staying another couple of days in Dallas so I thought it'd be more responsible to hold onto my cash for the rest of my stay...and I've thought about that jersey ever since.

In the summer of 2005 I found a new/unworn 1999 Mariner's SEATTLE road alternate jersey on Ebay. The price was around $160 to bid and about $175 for buy it now, and I had the cash to get it. My plan was to keep an eye on it and put in a bid at the last minute and save myself $15-$20 (it had no bids), but I failed to use the "watch" feature on the auction and it disappeared on me, and I've never seen one since.

Honorable mention: Around the same time as the Mariner's jersey, our local ROSS store had a couple of Dolphin's replica Junior Seau jerseys for $19.99...replicas of the throwbacks they wore on Thanksgiving VS Dallas in 2003. :-(

i found a blue Washington capitals jersey (from the 90's redesign) for 16.99 but the shipping alone was 23 bucks (total of like 40 bucks but i could only afford a 30 dollar prepaid card). i noticed the guy also lives in Vancouver so i offered him 30 bucks (almost double what he was selling the jersey for) in cash if we were to meet up somewhere and he still said no, hell he still would've charged me the extra 23 bucks to have it shipped in the same damn city. i seriously would've bought it if i had the 50 bucks for a prepaid card to sync up with paypal.

I have one that got away in a different way. I bought a home Astros jersey from the last gold and navy set off of the discount rack at a tiny sports store in Honolulu when I was in middle school, sold it to a buddy in high school thinking I NEVER find the on field cap to go with it, and found the cap about a year later. still kicking myself for that one.

Looks like im going to lose out on 2 HUGE NHL whales of mine, both fit me and both are rare as hell, I'm not going to reveal which ones they are untill both bids are over due to fear of actually losing out on them but I will say that neither are part of the '96 third jersey program. Stupid paypal bastards wont accept pre paid mastercards. My only hope ATM is to apply for a student credit card. My dad thinks I already have enough jerseys in my closet right now so he refuses to spend another dime on another one for me.

You are not the only only one to post this, so I'm not picking on you. I just don't understand why the size makes a difference?

I found a small New York/New Jersey Metrostars jersey for $2. I'll never fit that over my fat head but for that price, I had to add it to the collection!

I will have to check the size but I have the road version of that Astros jersey with the Astrodome patch if you might be interested. Just shoot me a PM and I can get back with you after I check it out.

Because I actually wear my jersey collection. For me there's not really any sense in buying a jersey and never showing it off by wearing it.
