  1. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but I'm only like 50% sold on this Angel City logo... There's a lot of good stuff here but honestly some aspects of the execution are kinda off-putting. The use of the colors and gradients are great, and the front of the angel is nice... But the back wing looks odd in its current position and orientation (assuming it's not meant to be a tail or a dress?) And worst of all, the shield as-is just interacts so awkwardly with the angel, IMO, especially with all that empty space between her and the text. Here's a couple of quick edits that I made to address those concerns: It's not necessary, but I thought a halo looked nice. Anways, I definitely prefer the IRL shield-less application over the shield; barring any changes, I hope that's what goes on the jerseys.
  2. Again, looks really good. The white background for the SOG stat numbers is a good call. Only thing I don't like is how tiny the 4-on-4 and power play indicators are. I think I'd rather see those indicator appear above the scorebug like "Shots on goal," but in team colors.
  3. This is beautifully done. I love the fonts and proportions, and the chamfered corners are a nice touch. The NFL graphic feels really smooth in the animation... Not a problem with the design, but just the way you presented it is a bit overwhelming. I would want that all that animation would actually happen long before the snap, and not all at once. The standings version of the baseball graphic is way too detailed (I think that info could just pop up from time to time above like any other info) but the version without is excellent! Some suggestions: I'd go with the position abbreviation (1B/LF/SS, etc.) next to the batter's name. I'd also make the fielding team's vertical line tonal like you do with the defense on the NFL graphic. Finally, I'd ditch the white outline on the filled bases. Overall, outstanding work! Definitely beats many of the scorebugs I've seen IRL. If you get the chance, I'd look forward to seeing more of the extra stuff (penalties, touchdowns, homeruns, etc) and how it looks for other teams/sports!
  4. Okay, well given those restrictions, and also your preference to avoid wordmarks, I'd probably separate the 4 & 9 of 49 and put them on the left and right sides of the circle, and then put the SF logo where the 49 was. If you're willing to bend that wordmark rule, you could use any of the Giants' fonts they use for the words "San Francisco" (and maybe "Bay Area" if you can access the full font!) to put outside the circle as a roundel, which would be even better.
  5. Kansas City looks great, especially with the SKC stateline element. Only suggestion would be to lower the crown a little bit. I don't wanna know what kinda creature left that spiky clawed skull for Tennessee :S Maybe a version with yellow instead of red would be nice. For the Bay Area, I really like your A's only version, but I'm not feeling the mirrored SF at all. I'd honestly rather much rather see the ball from the Giants logo replace the red circle background to rep the Giants. Either way, though, I'd stick with the versions with only one elephant. Also, maybe the Oakland/Bay version could be in teal (Sharks / average of Warriors & A's), black, and gold? Sorry to ask for all these changes AFTER you've after done a bunch of edits...
  6. That Boston one is by far the best, especially in RWB. Really well balanced. Same with Chicago, and I like the interchangeable baseball cap. I think the Phoenix/Arizona one is really funny with the flying Cardinal/Coyote (card-yote? coyot-inal?) Well done with execution of the snake tail. I think Milwaukee/Wisconsin's one is mostly pretty good; it just needs some tweaks. You should probably stick to cream instead of cream and white, and only do one outline for the buck. I'd also be curious to see it with the inner "basketball" horns of the buck removed, but that might not be better, idk. Finally, I guess I'm nitpicking your Seattle one ad naseum because those are my teams. The Kraken anchor works really well with the Mariners logo, so well done there. However, I think any Seattle team mashup feels incomplete without the Sounders. You might add a modified version of the Sounders' green shield to fit in the shape of the anchor, and maybe the top of the shield could be the shape of the Storm's new logo (to kill two birds with one stone?) Or you could just replace the top of the anchor with a beveled modification of the Sounders' rendition of the Space Needle. Regardless, I don't think the Kraken need to be represented twice with the S logo on top of the anchor. Overall, good work!
  7. That Dash jersey is fine but nothing too great. I'm mostly just glad that they held onto some light blue (I wish their Dynamo brothers had done the same) but it's a downgrade from the Oilers getup they had before. The new NY/NJ logo is excellent, with the well-executed J/Y monogram and beautifully incorporated crown. I suppose it's cool that they've established seafoam and black as New York's women's sporting colors. I don't know why I don't really feel the name "Gotham," though, despite it being more locally relevant. "Gotham FC" without the "NY/NJ" would be a bit better, like @QCS says, but regardless something feels a bit awkward about it. Not that a Reign fan is in a better spot lately when it comes to awkward team names
  8. Well, at least for Waywayseecappo, I think even the coloration of the "Old" logo in your first graphic is better than the one with red on the jersey, but I can respect your restraint from taking artistic liberties on a throwback. Not really feeling Winkler that much, TBH. The shape of the wings is improved a big, but the white outline feels like an obtrusive addition. Also, I kinda like the original's details in the shield; sorta reminds of the Golden Knights' floral flourishes that aren't technically part of the logo, but are a nice detail for on-ice applications. The rays you've replaced them with are kinda generic, so I'd rather you just got rid of the shield altogether. The Freeze, on the other hand, is a huge upgrade! The Winnipeg Ice font of the original looks terrible, and both your scary snowman logo and the script logo are SOOO much better. All the jerseys are perfect; no changes needed. The Blues' new logo is quite nice, though I'd like to see the treble clef appear without a roundel on at least one of the jerseys. I'd also appreciate a wider kerning for the "Blues" text on the roundel. Jerseys are solid designs, though.
  9. Well, that's a fair reason! Hopefully the rest of the teams appreciate your work like Steinbach did, because you're definitely doing some noticeable upgrades! It's a good font change and cleanup for Virden, though I'd be curious if there's a way to incorporate the tower of the oil rigs, because right now it takes a sec to figure out what they are! The jerseys are solid. The retro color scheme is quite nice but I'm not feeling the logo execution; maybe an arched gap in the V for the text would improve it, and/or a slightly different block font? The Wolverines' W striping is fun! I guess the Washington Capitals '90s hem striping was technically W-shaped if you look at them from the side but they totally could've done something like this for a less subtle take. The old logo you use for the retro uniform really doesn't do well with the introduction of both brown and red. I think you'd be better off if you could pare it down a color or two.
  10. Totally agree. I wish they could have kept purple sleeves or something so the black wouldn't be too overpowering. I can't decide if it looks better or worse knowing that the shorts and socks are black, too. Still, it's a really nice design and it beats the Lions' new kit! The Ad Astra patch is pretty cool, too. Does anyone know if the hexagon pattern used for the gradient has some significance? Presumably it's not meant to be the Epcott ball...
  11. Steinbach looks great, though if I'm nitpicking I'd say that the primary logo and alt logo are a *bit* out of sync b/c the car has more shading/lighting than the piston. Portage Bay are an upgrade! The terrier logo is very nicely executed, but I wonder if it could be a bit bigger because the large T is unfairly hogging the focus a bit. I like the alt and throwback for the Steelers. You did a good job cleaning up the person logo (though the face he's making is a bit awkward), but mostly I'm just not a fan of the idea of the logo itself. I'd like to see the alternate iron beam logo use the same outlines & shading as the primary logo's hockey stick, and maybe a hard hat shoulder patch or something. The Stampeders are also an upgrade. The Trojan horse "SVS" fauxback logo is really nice, and pairs well with those stitched numbers and color scheme. The primary logo is also solid; it'd be a good Denver Broncos concept too Speaking of Denver, the retro jersey with the rip-off horse head works much better than the full logo would suggest. The colors and restrained design work really well with a potentially busy logo, so well done! Really good work; keep it up!
  12. So far this is going really well! Huge updates on both teams and the league logo. The league wordmark is excellent (reminds me of the Kraken's wordmark). However the roundel you put it feels too flat to pair with the beveled logo. Maybe give the roundel some beveled white outlines inside the red outlines, and try a different font for the ring of text. For the Kings, I think the logo would work even better if the text followed the curve of the crown and/or said "Dauphin" instead. The updated colors are quite pretty, and the jerseys are solid, though I guess I'd prefer the hem stripes change to make the sleeves. Only real wish for Neepawa is to match the N on the log to the font of "Foresters." Great job on the logos and the jerseys! Your current retro jersey is fine as-is but maybe a fauxback of this jersey with "Neepawa" as the script would work.
  13. That Notre Dame mascot logo turned out really well! Nicer than their full-body version they have currently, IMO. Same goes for the Delta Devils; really cool work! Feels really intimidating with that excellent use of shadow. The arms look fine, and the wordmark is cool. My only suggestions would be to replace the yellow in the trident with white, and maybe try to make some simpler secondary logos (D & trident? Head only?) Any of those eagles would be a huge upgrade. I like the one on the left on the 2nd group most. Not feeling that Montreal logo. I like the use of the founding year, and the name's a little bit better than Club de Foot, but altogether the design feels far too simple/generic. You could at least bring back the blue & black stripes somehow. I don't know how I feel about the shape; does it have a meaning? Maybe you could make it look more like the Olympic Stadium or the Impact's second-ever logo.
  14. That City court for the Suns is excellent! I might move the Valley script to the ends and just have the logo at center-court, though. Also, it's not necessary, but I'd be curious if the gradients would look good rotated 90 degrees so the sun is rising out of the ends. The Hornets design isn't bad but I think I'd rather see just one hexagon style (maybe the one from the sidelines). The wood stain for the Nuggets is too dark, and it makes the pickaxes feel busier than the original ones did. I'd lighten everything up and/or switch everything inside the 3-point line to the current, simpler design. Definitely a good idea to bring back the mountains, though! I feel similarly about the Kobe tribute court, but I think maybe it would work better if you ditch or shrink or monochrome the Lakers logo? Or move the 8 & 24 to the ends and put the logo in their places? Overall, good work!
  15. I've noticed that all the images I've posted, which are hosted on my personal website, all stopped displaying on the site sometime in the last month. The "Insert Image from URL" option just results in an error whenever I try editing and relinking to those images. Certainly the issue could be on my end, but I thought I'd ask if there was some relevant change to the boards before I give up and reupload everything to Imgur. I'd appreciate any info you might have.
  16. I like the update to the Cascades; the logo looks really great with Rainier! I'd suggest thinning out the lines of the baseball, and maybe add a few more trees. The drop-shadow on the jersey was a nice touch. I imagine it could look nice without the white separation, though I suppose it might necessitate a slight change in the shades of green for contrast... Either way, excellent update! I don't mind the detailed Neptune as a sleeve patch; I think there's precedent for teams to have a logo with that detail. I do feel this could use an additional trident-focused logo, though. However, with some edits to the trident, I think you could do some sort of J + trident monogram as the cap logo. Also, I don't know how practical it is, but having an inline on the away "Jacksonville" script would be really cool. Finally, I think the waves on the sleeves should be the same color design as the text, e.g. blue/teal/blue for home & away, blue/white/blue for the alt. Good work!
  17. Okay, since @mcrosby makes a good point about Georgia O'Keeffe being a more suitable inspiration than Frank Lloyd Wright, I reworked the Architects into the Madison Vanguard: This logo has an easel with a painted Madison flag and an MV monogram worked into the legs. The Vanguard name honors Madison's innovators in general rather than Wright specifically, and feels like an extension of the Forward brand. I reworked the O'Keeffe flower away jersey into a swirly home jersey. The new away takes the pattern of a muskellunge fish, a tribute to the defunct Muskies baseball team. I'll plan to be back with a new away jersey for Atlanta to finish the updates for the series!
  18. Here's an update to the LA uniforms that I pulled together after the announcement of the new team, which has no Barcelona connection. They seem to be using the name Angel City and a metallic rose gold color, so I wanted to work with that. The logo is framed by a clapperboard to represent Hollywood. I wanted to do angelic symbolism without infringing on any of the Angels' historical imagery (wings & halos), so I went with a harp. Hopefully this would allow a "Harpers" nickname rather than have a confusing second "Angels" team. I've kept most of the design of the jerseys, but I replaced the Barcelona red stripes on the home with the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and old gold is replaced with rose gold.
  19. Thanks for the feedback! It's always nice to get a local opinion. Thanks for bringing this point up; that totally didn't cross my mind (and they even mentioned it during my tour of Oak Park, IL, I forgot about it... ) I just drew up a quick sketch of a painting-themed version of the logo with an easel, but it doesn't have the fun beveling and negative space stuff that I enjoyed while making the drafting compass. Also I don't know if I have a good name for it... Anyways I'll try to pull that together. Thank you! Glad to hear you liked it.
  20. And now, the last team I have planned. It's probably unrealistic for a USL1 team in a relatively small city to field an NWSL team, even with Madison's eager fanbase, but the Mingos' branding is top-notch and this series is just for fun anyways! The team just had to share Forward Madison's unique color scheme, but it embodies a decidedly different mood. The name comes from Madison's famous modern architectural landmarks, including several works by Wisconsin-born Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries. The logo depicts a window from one such work, the Monona Terrace and a drafting compass with a negative-space State Capitol building. The home jersey loosely draws from the horizontal design of Wright's iconic Prairie School style, specifically the Jacobs I House. The away jersey is inspired by the floral artwork of a different creative Madisonian, painter Georgia O'Keeffe. This flower is the wood violet, state flower of Wisconsin. I had a pretty good time trying to do something a bit more detailed & realistic than I'm used to! I'll probably work on some updates for Atlanta and Los Angeles before I call it a wrap, but now I want to thank you all for your suggestions and feedback during this series! Here are the logos and colors of the full league, as it stands:
  21. I guess I hadn't really thought about how that history might play into opinions on the away jersey; thanks for pointing that out. It's probably too light & fun of a design to work as a memorial jersey, so I could try something else entirely... As for the suggestion of a Coca-Cola kit, I'm a bit lost on how I'd keep it from feeling like just another ad, but I'll think on it some more. Oh, come on, don't get that one stuck in our heads again! Also, I did some more work on Toronto. I tried the suggestion of centering the T and it was better but still kinda static. However, I tried it off-center with the actual curved T shape of the Toronto flag and I think it finally gets some nice motion to it!
  22. The update to Denver was exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for deciphering my ramblings; maybe I'm a bit too used to Inkscape. Now that all the jerseys have yellow text, it's grown on me a bit on the home & away. Certainly you're right to call it unique and now it feels more cohesive, too. Your updates for Seattle's jerseys are subtle but nice. I don't mind the light green you have; it's not overly obnoxious like the Seahawks or muddy like my Sounders. Mostly it was just curiosity about the mint. Look forward to seeing your logo edits if you're so inclined. As for New Orleans, I'm more on board with just purple & gold; looks much cleaner that way IMO. The NO monogram is pretty classy.
  23. Glad to hear you like ABQ, and I'll mess around more with Toronto shortly. I think the Olympics suggestion was I needed to hear to get the ball rolling for Atlanta, so now I've got that one done first! And it's another re-incarnation of the Atlanta Beat: I thought there was some potential in the poorly-executed original A & note logo, but it took me a while to think of interlocking them in this slightly different way. I added the Olympic flame above the A and a record to further represent Atlanta's burgeoning music scene. It's in Atlanta black & red with a peach color added. The home jersey is inspired by the city's original Terminus name. It has air traffic, reflecting the city's airport hub status, and railyards to show its railroad history, all emanating from a central point which represents Atlanta itself. The away is based on the Olympic Cauldron from the 1996 Games. It's a bit weird so let me know if there's a way to improve it.
  24. The Cascades look pretty nice (I'm used to saying that more literally ) I think the mountains on the baseball diamond logo feel really vertically stretched out, so I'd shorten those a bit and maybe consider adding some snowcaps. The jerseys are solid but I'd ditch the white outlines on the away. While your shades of green are fine as-is, I'd be interested in seeing that mint green version you mentioned. I'm not sold on the yellow-heavy text on the white jersey, but Denver's alternates are gorgeous. I love that red-brimmed cap. I'd swap the text fill & stroke on the red jersey, though. I think you had the roundel right the first time, personally, but the partial logo without the text is best. Also, despite the colors that feel more Colorado or Philly, your NY design is quite nice, especially that monogram.
  25. Sounds like New Mexico fans are making waves in the USL, so here's a take on a women's team for the latest soccer hotbed: The Cranes are named after sandhill cranes, which migrate in great numbers through New Mexico. Unlike NM United, they take on a very Southwestern color scheme. The home jersey is a hot air balloon pattern, inspired by ABQ's famous Balloon Fiesta. The away jersey uses the iconic New Mexico chile on a kit of the brother team's colors. I have one last team planned and almost ready, but if anyone has some suggestions for Atlanta designs, I might be able to get that to happen too.
