  1. I totally agree with @NicDB; the star numbers are so awesomely clever! The Astros should totally do that, even if they don't leave the current font and/or add the orbiting planet (I can't decide how I feel about the latter, but that's not your fault...) I think your latest, outline-less update to the navy jersey is really gorgeous, though I'd suggest keeping the white front numbers since it matches the cap logo better, and balances with the white player name. Definitely I would love to see this with orange brims on the navy caps, and maybe white front-paneled on the orange caps! I wonder if doing the text as a "skew/arch" (as Illustrator/Photoshop call it) would look better than the "rainbow/arc" style you've gone with? Anyways, excellent work here to adapt the City Connect to a full set, and some new ideas that should totally stick around!
  2. I really like the basis of this idea; AFAIK it's quite unique for a Jets concept! I think the monogram you've got is a start, but I agree with @LA Fakers+ LA Snippers; it's hard to read as-is. IMO you don't need the N to reach the oval's top and bottom; you can do those separately. You might also give the Y more breathing room, or add gaps at intersections w/ the N. Here's a quick sketch. Lastly, I think the wings are way too chunky compared to the delicate letters. Thin them out, maybe go a bit more acute than those 90 corners. I like this idea, and I think it's close... I'd mostly want to see the yellow move down to align with the red on the top right, and *maybe* some adjustments of the serifs' size to make the bottom serif a bit cleaner. Otherwise, this is my preferred take on the idea (and obviously the idea works, since TikTok's similar brand styling has served their omnipresence lol) That said, this works too, though I think this style is a bit unbalanced. I'd rather see it with the "sunrise" on opposite sides rather than appearing inside the secondary logo P. For readability, I think the wordmark could have the sunrise just on the left edge of the left S and right edge of the right S in "Steelers", but "Pittsburgh" should really be without it, maybe just solid yellow. I do think for the primary logo, the circle outline itself should have the "sunrise" on both sides rather than just containing that multicolored section.
  3. And the last entry I have in this brief return, some uniforms for the Gotham FC brand: The sash is a solid new brand element, but the IRL jerseys are still pretty plain. Here, I attempt to spice it up by adding the bannister design of the Statue of Liberty's torch. The away jersey is based on the tile design demarcating the border between New Jersey and New York on the walls of the Lincoln Tunnel. As always, C&C is appreciated, and thanks for checking out my little addendum here!
  4. Here's my take on the currently rumored leading candidate for expansion, an independent Bay Area team playing in the Earthquakes' stadium (which I had the pleasure to visit last September!) So this design is inspired by the 2001-2003 Cyber Rays of the WUSA, whose overall brand was obviously a relic of the '90s/early '00s, and not a charming one IMO... But recently I was surprised to learn that rays *do* in fact live in San Francisco Bay, and so I thought, why not try to salvage the brand for the 2020s? The logo plays all the San Jose hits: a microchip, rounded box app icon shape, and tech-y font for Silicon Valley, a color scheme mixing Sharks and city flag colors, and an itty bitty sunburst under the ray. The home jersey kinda continues the theme with a glitch hoop design (MLS + Adidas called, I guess) with circuit-board trim. The away jersey is a sorta fauxback to the inaugural jerseys, with the ray in the style of the original IRL logo sublimated.
  5. Okay, next up are updates to both Reign versions from before. Since they're my team, I scrutinize their branding extra hard, and over time I saw my old concept logos needed some cleanup. I've grown unhappy with the kinda blocky face and crown on my Sounders-synergy version, so I played around with those a fair amount (and included a little Space Needle in the crown!) I'm much more pleased with it now. As for the Olympique version, I've come to feel that the composition and font were a bit off, so I arched my updated crown to pair with the circle below it. The mountain is also tweaked to have more of a lithograph vibe; IDK if that works, but let me know. I also wanted to make some changes to the Olympique version's uniform set: First off, I swapped the light/darkā€“home/away distinction. The dark (now home) jersey becomes a fauxback to the 2014 home jersey with the blue base and black center stripe. It retains the Puget Sound map in the black section, but introduces a new plaid raindrop design, since we can't let the Thorns have all the PNW plaid fun :P I love the all-time list of Reign players on the new IRL away jersey, but sadly it appears on a design that says Lyon more than it says Seattle. Thus, my updated away jersey incorporates those names into a Pike Place Market-themed jersey. The ad becomes part of the famous neon sign, and the player names on the stripe are placed onto the market's floor tiles (which also feature names). Lastly, the Olympic mountains remain in the background from my old version.
  6. Here's Houston's new away jersey that came out today. It's apparently inspired by the star on the city flag: For reference:
  7. Fair point! Though true white feels a bit disruptive, so here are two similar ideas: First, the outline in light blue/teal like the trim & socks: And here it is in cream, which pairs quite well with the barbeque theme, but with not the blue trim, so I changed the trim to match: Which is preferable?
  8. Next up we have an update to my original FC Kansas City design to reflect the new Current branding: I'm not much of a fan of the Current's logo; it's basically just as bland and generic as the placeholder logo that preceded it. Hopefully the city flag fountain from my old FCKC concept can work under the new name. The home jersey is just reflecting the striping of the logo, with inspiration from the IRL home jersey and this gorgeous 2015 Reign jersey. The texture is the same pattern as on my FCKC away jersey. I would love to try some Kansas City barbeque someday, but until then this barbeque sauce + grill design away kit will have to do. C&C appreciated!
  9. In response to my Atlanta post back in 2020, @sportsfan7 had the idea of a Coca-Cola themed jersey: I didn't want to do a red & white design or anything like a blatant corporate advertisement... but I think I found a way to do it subtly and tie in another Atlanta symbol to boot! My design is mostly based on the bark of the flowering dogwood tree, but also includes the shape of the old green bottles in the negative space of the blurry background. Hopefully, this soda brown and green number evokes soft drinks a bit, but isn't verging too much on advertisement, subliminal or otherwise... ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
  10. Hey, thank you so much! I was worried the texture on the away jersey would be too subtle (especially in comparison to the intricate pattern of the IRL sign, which I was too intimidated to try recreating myself), so it's a relief to hear it works. I imagine it's more about the perfectly respectable concern of filling the space well, but it is funny to think anyone on the boards would be asking for *more* ad space : P Lol wasn't expecting to be called out for my word salad today but okay Anyways, glad you like the design! You've got a good idea here, so here's at least a first pass at that: Thankfully it didn't require too much messing around with old code to get it to this point : ) I'm not sure if the amount of pink I use here is too much to clash with the pink away jersey. TBH I'm not even sure this could even reasonably be used against a team in dark blue or light blue or red... ? IDK, curious if anyone has any thoughts on that.
  11. Onto the other new SoCal team, the San Diego Wave! It was kinda tough to incorporate all of SD's colors, but I tried my best on the home jersey to do that. It uses a top view beach graphic I made a while back. Not sure if the pink trim adds much here, but I couldn't tell where else to put it. The pink away jersey is based on the silhouette and sand + yellow stripes of the Gaslamp District sign. Hopefully these designs do the very comprehensive SD Wave color scheme some justice, but C&C here would be appreciated. EDIT: updated based on feedback from Megildur. See original here.
  12. I usually feel like the era combos for Tampa Bay I've seen on these boards fall a bit flat, especially because most people don't address how the old and new logo sets aren't *quite* compatible... but this comes pretty dang close, and convinces me it's actually possible! I do really like the way you incorporated the drop shadow into the roundel logo; I'd just appreciate one last recoloration step and stroke weight unification step to make the whole logo set consistent. The home and away and third jerseys are quite elegant, and definitely give the team their own solid identity. My only real suggestions would be making the player name black and the roundel outline white (i.e. invisible) on the white jersey. Your take on the storm jersey is definitely an improvement but it's still too crazy for my taste. That said ditching the silver outlines (or at least the bottom silver outline) would help, as would replacing yellow with silver. Idk maybe it's not worth fixing it for me : P I think if you're gonna ditch light blue for the Jets, you shouldn't keep it for the collar pentagon. You could make that silver, I guess. The propeller feels a bit out of place as-is, but I think you could make it work if you EITHER: make it more like the jet in the logo (i.e. silver with navy outlines, with navy shadows taking up half of each blade) as part of a new secondary logo (e.g. with a roundel of text around it) OR incorporate it more directly into the striping... My first thoughts are using it as the stripe on the bottom of the yoke (like the Bruins' white yoke stripe) with the pentagon as the "hub," or using it as a chest stripe. Buffalo looks solid! I appreciate the consistent striping on the road. I'd just suggest ditching the white outline on the alt logo since nothing else is double outlined like that. Not a big fan of Calgary using black but your design uses it fairly well. I love that burgundy alternate; just put black instead of burgundy between the red & yellow stripes and it's golden! I really like your take on the Flyers with teal! I don't normally like wordmarks in the striping but this works well here. Not sure it'd be better, but I'm curious to see a version with either the orange or the black as a stripe rather than extending to the ends of the sleeves. The rest of the set is quite classy; I appreciate the more interesting striping designs you've gone with. Love the one less outline on the P logo on the alt. Totally the right call to use the unused logo for the Panthers alt. It's the only way to do Vice for them, IMO. I like the pop of yellow, but I'm not sure the sun+trees+stick logo matches the neon aesthetic. I'd maybe go with the recolored state flag without the panther on top. Good work!
  13. Blue looks really good on that Wild barberpole jersey; definitely conveys the 10000 Lakes inspiration. I also enjoy the design of the red alternate, and the chest stripe works well on the road. The new shoulder logo is a good idea but I'm not crazy about the off-center sun, and the M is a bit too geometric to fit quite in either the modern or traditional aspects of the Wild's overall vibe. I like that you're trying to unify eras on the Kings here, but I think if you're gonna go with the '00s/'10s wordmark in the Chevy logo, only the K should have motion lines because the kerning + letter width feel off as-is. I like your updated crown a lot; TBH I'd like to see it as the primary on the purple + yellow jerseys and leave the Chevy logo for the black alt. Only suggestion for it would be to incorporate the sun instead of the diamond on the center prong! The beach-themed alt is cool; definitely better than its IRL black/white/silver inspiration... though it does make me want to see the Ducks in that scheme instead :P Not sure if I'm sold on the white helmet, and I'm curious what color pants you're thinking for it, because I don't think black pants work for it at all. I guess maybe tan pants + blue helmet would be better, but IDK if that's ideal either? Nashville does look pretty nice with the Stadium Series logo on it! I don't normally like double outlines, but I do think adding a blue outline on the numbers outside the white one would look nice on the home & away. The neon style doesn't quite work for the numbers on the alt, though, since you're trying to fit it all inside the existing number. I thinking centering the neon stroke on the edges of the number and adding more blue outline outside would help, but TBH the neon styling doesn't quite fit with either the sleeve or hem striping. Thick blue / thin yellow / thin blue striping on the sleeves plus making the white key outlines & black keys yellow on a blue background would probably feel more consistent with the neon aesthetic; if that doesn't work, you might have to drop that styling or migrate it to the blue jersey. Such a good idea to go with burgundy pants for the Avs; way better than blue pants and I liked the blue pants! I like using the Rockies fauxback logo with Colorado flag colors but I don't like the asymmetry of the red & yellow stripes or their sudden appearance on the sleeves despite not being on the chest stripe. Maybe a consistent use of yellow/red/thick white/red/yellow would be better, especially with blue outlines for the numbers and logo. Good call to straighten out the Stars logo for pairing with the big star jerseys. I like the flat D+STā˜…RS logo, but it doesn't pair with the beveled primary logo IMO, so maybe use the Texas outline logo instead and save it for the alts (which are quite nice!) That Detroit alternate doesn't really read as relating to the city flag, so I'm not sure it works for me. I'd definitely ditch in favor of metallic gold; that'd give some Detroit City FC synergy which would be cool. Metallic gold text, logo, and numbers on a (slightly darkened) red chest stripe; I think that would read more as the lions. Then, above that red stripe, you could MAYBE do a thinner stripe made of diagonal red slashes or a single thin blue stripe with eleven stars on it (that one might look too tacky and/or vaguely USA to work, idk) Anyways it's more nice work here, and I look forward to the next entries here!
  14. I do think that, of the H+T monograms you've done here, this particular one is the nicest. That said, I do like the rocket + exhaust idea you've got going on, especially with the longer proportions, so something in between the dimensions of your first attempt and how you end up. The latest, larger spacing between the two stems of the H and the stem of the T is good though. I think it would help to have the H be white and the T be red, so that the flame gradient feels less disconnected from the rest of the T. I'm on board with space / Astros tequila sunrise synergy; all the Houston teams should do it IMO :D That wordmark font is a good choice too. TBH I think the combo of the perfect circle and super geometric "G" is a bit too simple to work (it also feels a bit Google-y lol)... But I think shifting the bar of the G upward and/or shrinking everything proportionally while keeping the G's strokes the same weight would probably help it feel better. Undecided on what outline striping pattern is better, but I think option B's stripes are far too thin.
  15. I know it's been a while, but I wanted to quickly revisit this thread with a couple of brief updates, since we now have three new teams and a major rebrand IRL! First off, here's a second version of Angel City, now that we have a sense of their IRL brand. Their actual logo has really nice elements, but it feels so awkwardly composed, so here's a quick comparison of the original (L) and my tweaks (R). The halo is unnecessary but I thought maybe it's okay : ) Onto the jerseys! My home jersey is by no means an attempt to outdo their excellent Art Deco design... This is just a possibility for a future design, inspired by their primary color's name of "Asphalt." That said, I do feel they need to introduce more pink into the mix, so I did that. Sorry for the two year delay, but here's my response to your idea for a cream Angel City jersey. It's based on the Griffith observatory. I'll have San Diego up shortly!
  16. Two new Spirit kits revealed today, the first one is the Challenge Cup kit (the "Community Kit") and the other is the regular season kit (the "10th Anniversary Kit"), both boring IMO: Sucks even more upon seeing this comment from Reddit /u/GrayEyedAthena: Either they or DC United have to do it some point though, right? EDIT: Even worse, they're going with navy shorts and socks too... Not crazy about the font they chose but this works well enough! Would rather see it as the league logo on the sleeve instead of the ads, but oh well.
  17. Here's the new Reign away kit. The vertical stripes are filled with the names of every player who's played ever for the Reign: I like that touch of honoring the players, and barring the black (or navy?) numbers and ad, it's genuinely really well designed.... But from afar this is basically just a nice Lyon kit. Idk if I'll ever get over this rebrand as many Reign fans seem to have done, but the blue/red co-dominance is an unwelcome reminder no matter how nice it looks :/
  18. Here's Carolina's new home jersey: Would love to see gold replace all the white, especially since the white and gold on the collar bleed together.... But otherwise it's alright I guess... Thanks for the closeup! Looking at it more closely, the awkward serif on the C in "FC" and the overlapping "TH" feel questionable but I agree that the little thorns work well!
  19. Agree that the ad wordmarks are a downgrade; one of the few times more ad text would be an improvement, like the old "Health Services" subtitle below "Providence"... That recoloration on the away is weird enough on its own, since only one element is red (why is the rose not the thing that's red?) But it's made especially bad since *nothing* on the kit matches anything else's coloration! That unnecessarily outlined Nike swoosh, the black on the cuff that appears nowhere else, the stripeless collar... What's going on? Yeah red shorts would help, and red socks for the home kit too! At least it'd distract from the details on the away :P You're right that that home kit would probably look good in red with black vines, or with the spaces between the vines filled in to make alternating red/black hoops like the Timbers' old black and red kit. Anyways, you two are Portland fans, right? Any thoughts that new wordmark on the side panels? I can't decide if it's cool or over-designed. I agree, but it could just be a temporary like the Loyal's orange so I'm not too bothered...The best first step to solving that is the Spirit going back to red shirts IMO. I'm honestly more worried about all the black now with Orlando, Gotham, Louisville, Portland, Angel City, and Chicago all wearing black so often... Lastly, the Reign are releasing a new kit next week. I'm surprised since I vaguely remember hearing grumblings we would just stick with our two existing bespoke kits...
  20. Looks like someone just posted their Challenge Cup kit on Reddit, from a player's Instagram: Sounds temporary like last season's KC kits (when are those new ones coming?) Also, the Thorns wore a green practice jersey today in preseason against the Reign, and they totally need to do that as a real secondary jersey sometime: Has the sorta text-less partial logo thing that Orlando's done for their training tops too; I like it!
  21. Love that alternate jersey's use of just a tiny touch of red, and the monochrome C+hammers logo looks right at home in the roundel! I know folks didn't like the Devils new IRL alt but I kinda liked it, and this concept has a lot of the elements I liked about it The only suggestion there would be to make the head logo monochrome too like they do on their alts (that is, if you keep it at all). A solid set overall. That Coyotes black alternate gives me Kraken vibes, in both good and bad ways... The sleeve/sock striping is quite nice, but the hem doesn't really pair with it very well. If you just want that single thin stripe there, it should probably be green, but you totally have enough room to either put a tan stripe above it or move it up and put a tan stripe with a red hem (and pants?) below it. The city uniform here is a really nice design, and FWIW it's distinct enough from the Suns & Jazz designs and pretty enough that the similarities aren't an issue :) I think the black hem feels out of place; either ditch it or go with black under the sleeve stripes. I'd also go white for the "AZ" on the crest. Hmmm not sure how I feel about that Hurricanes city jersey's crest; the idea has potential but it isn't working as-is since the stylized, oblong logo pairs poorly with the circular, detailed wreath. Using a more stylized, oblong wreath (like 2nd from left, 2nd from bottom here) would probably help. Going with all green & yellow for the logo would probably look nicer too. Finally, it's not necessary, but including the diamond pattern from the flag's reverse on the sleeves might be cool...? As for the rest of the set, I really like the pants flags! Also I like the Canes wordmark too and it looks really nice on black. IDK if I want it IRL but those changes to the Sabres logo is pretty cool; it feels like what they'd do if they were a classy but modern expansion team, and it certainly emphasizes the name well! The Bills jersey is fun, and I like the chest lightning bolts, but I'd go red buffalo + white text on the helmet for contrast purposes here. Not crazy about going black for the Flames but the design looks good, if a bit '80s Canucks-y. The scenery patch and Blasty *are* two nice logos that pair better with each other than the traditional C logo (though a floating white outline on the scenery logo would help too!) Not feeling the white stripe touching the yellow at home. Love that flag-themed alternate; just needs a bit of hem color (white or black would be fine!) Love the brown & simplified logo for the Bruins. That Red Sox-style alt is close but the lowercase doesn't work for me here very well, and I'd rather see the actual detailed Freedom Trail markers' leaves (could rip from here?) The B in the roundel works fine but I wonder if the bear from the shoulder patch could work there?
  22. Yeah, lucky thing Columbus chose not to wear yellow in MLS Cup 2020, because the Sounders seem to feel perfectly happy wearing the primaries against yellow. Our green is way too yellowy to work against Columbus or Nashville, and Nashville's shade of yellow in particular seems to have a touch of volt green to it. Bad pairing. On top of that, it bothers me how Nashville's side panel just suddenly ends at the hem! . I really think it's a nice side panel design, but the transition to the shorts is rough. Toronto had this same issue a few years back. I think this jersey would look way better with navy shorts (saves all-yellow for Columbus too), or with the shorts side panels style FC Dallas used in '16-'17:
  23. Even if I'm not crazy about some of the specifics, the approach is good here, and I like "Second City Fire" (or maybe "Second City Brigade") for Chicago : ) The Quakes should totally have their second team named "Tremors" or "Foreshocks"
  24. Was totally on board with you as long as they were involved with USL. I think in that scenario, they all should've been required to go the Tacoma Defiance/Bethlehem Steel route of going with their own brand in a distinct but close-by market. Legitimizes those teams to some extent, since they're actually trying to represent fans. North Texas and Real Monarchs are marginal names but at least they have their own logos. I guess in a Reserve League, it's not quite *as* bad to have 2s and Bs, but unfortunately now the teams with remotely compelling brands can't avoid being dragged down to that level... I feel bad for Rhinos fans; glad at least RGVFC avoided becoming Dynamo 2 or w/e. True enough... Even if you go with the lazy naming, it just bothers me how low effort some of these logos are when they don't have to be. Atlanta should adopt the spike from their ATL2 logo into the first team logo, the Monarchs have a beautifully rendered lion, and at least Union 2 and Whitecaps 2 have *some* visual distinction/thought to them. NYC2, Chicago 2, Cincy 2, though; sooooo bad. Miami 2 gets "Miami" twice, which is almost funny. Also, I feel like there's an easy improvement for New England II rather than the nearly invisible change:
  25. At least to an outsider/non-Crew fan, the poorly tacked-on text kinda feels like them telling their fans "See! We ~t o t a l l y~ kept the name for you! Aren't you ~p r o u d~ of us??!!1!??"
