  1. I like NYCFC going with an orange kit, and the lightning bolt isn't a bad idea by any means... But at least from that photo, the gradient is too sudden to look good, especially when juxtaposed with that crisp lightning stripe... A more gradual gradient or a line gradient like the final jersey under the Sky Blue FC brand would be better. Also, consistent oranges like @upperV03 says, and a blue left sleeve would help a lot too... A very rough edit; it's not enough but I think it helps: ---> I miss the circle "Hypnokit" for them, though...
  2. As a Sounders fan, I think this should absolutely be the goal! I'm a young fan that wasn't into it yet at the time of the transition, so I can only speak retroactively, but to ditch all historic elements/colors (and nearly ignore them until the '17 fauxback) was really a mistake, and I'm glad to hear the Front Office acknowledging that. Ditching the "FC," as appears to be the popular sentiment on Sounders Twitter/Reddit, would help. I think the main unifying element, as @Digby mentions, is the sinusoidal wave, which I think they should make very prominent. Returning to the classic '74-'82 NASL/'03-'08 logo would be fine, but it could also be used as a wordmark to accompany a related logo that incorporates the wave as well. I think it seems to be a minority opinion, but I'm in favor of keeping the Space Needle in a different rendering. It was around in the '82 logo, and it would provide a reasonable element of connection to the present. If @raysox's reasonable point about licensing does in fact become an issue, I'd go orca sans soccer ball, or maybe a ferry? I've kinda liked anchor-themed concepts but I think the Kraken have now claimed the best composition for that. The popular suggestion of using Tahoma is good, but it needs to pair with an additional element. As for colors, you could make any of the above happen still in Rave Green, but I agree with @upperV03 & @SFGiants58, it's ugly and hard to work with. Sounders Twitter/Reddit seem pretty split on this. I'd also ditch the unnecessary gray "Cascade Shale," though I think it'd be an unpopular move. To avoid Timbers (and now Austin) similarities, as well as the "disconnect"/grossness of lime, I vote for emerald/kelly green. That could pair with NASL-era light blue or be codominant with royal blue like the USL era and modern era. As for uniforms, I waffle between blue or green dominant... I guess my current favored solution is still green/blue/green uniforms, which at least have history with the '70s and the MLS era, with the '81 light blue as the permanent color for either an away or third (ideally, used for *almost all* games against Portland and a fair amount against Vancouver, both home and away!) Anyways, besides my own concept or returning to the NASL-era logo, I've liked these concepts, but they're in the wrong colors and the first two would be improved by waves and have kinda been lessened following the release of the Kraken anchor logo.
  3. I like the circle number idea, but maybe you could try separate circles for each digit...? And that logo is already doing well! The scorpion looks great and its composition with the LV is really nice; I'm excited to see it on a cap! Tbh my issue with it is more that the L is italicized but the V isn't. In terms of the wordmark, the diagonal is solid, but assuming you don't go with separate digit numbers, an arch might flow better with the circle. I would also say that this concept feels really red heavy to go with such a solid black circle outline; you might switch to black numbers to even things out (my preference since you could recreate the monogram styling) or use an outlined circle. Also poor Calgary; kinda sad to see the '90s/'00s thing of Canadian teams leaving extend to fictional concept worlds even if it's realistic :( Also, since I haven't commented since then, the latest Cascades updates look good (bar that low-contrast BFBS '90s alt, that cap S feels stretched really wide, and kinda awkwardly integrated with the Space Needle in the same way the old Stanford logo was with its tree) I love the latest take on the Jacksonville trident, and the inline script is really pretty! The Penns also look good! Maybe too many outlines on the home and alt numbers; I don't think the white outlines are necessary on the alt since the logo looks so gorgeous on pinstripes with just the blue outline at home. Also, I imagine it's just meant to be an old-timey quirk, but I'm curious why you put the number both so low compared to the logo and on the opposite side? Is that a thing? Finally, I really like that Miners secondary logo with the pickaxes. The monogram reads a bit more as "FS" than "SF" to me; I guess my suggestion would be extending the bottom of the F below the S? Also, not crazy about the white outlines on the away alt, especially in comparison to the beautiful, nearly whiteless home alt :P Anyways, sorry to nitpick; glad the series is back!
  4. Honestly, that'd be pretty cool... The silver jersey is pleasant enough, with its only serious crime being that it replaced the yellow, so I'd be happy to see it remain as the away this year alongside the yellow instead of keeping *another* all-black jersey in the MLS rotation. Even better if they change out the shorts and socks for a nice silver/black/silver look... I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they were originally planning, until the rightful backlash against ditching yellow *again* led them to switch last-second to existing yellow shorts and socks. Besides, IIRC it's been a sec since we had the similar white/black/white in MLS? Really I think the only potential question would be against LAFC's cream away jersey (or *maybe* Colorado's mint away), and they'd probably just want to wear their home sets anyways! ... though now that I think about it, I guess any uniform set they do will be marred by the new logo : /
  5. Thanks for humoring me with Minnesota & Nashville! Re: the Preds one, I mostly just meant the outermost blue stripes should be thicker than the rest to match the thickness of the outline of the shoulder yoke. Either way, I think I preferred the curved sleeve stripes on the alternate. The new numbers look good! Definitely on board with the non-sublimated warning flags for Carolina (they look especially nice on the alt jersey), though I think I'd like to see them on the sleeve stripes too. The update is an improvement, but I think the issue with those Tampa Bay jerseys is less that the sleeve stripes are too big and more that the hem stripes are too small! The blue and black hem stripes really bleed together on the away. Matching the sleeve striping exactly would help. (Also, it's not necessary, but I'd love to see a version with the much nicer Florida map alternate logo on the chest!) For the Kings, the idea behind the jerseys are solid... Though the away jersey ought to be more black-heavy than silver-heavy; unless you're imagining going with light gray pants for the set (which is not necessarily a bad idea), I imagine it wouldn't pair nicely as-is with the black-heavy gear of the rest of the uniform. Also, it's not your fault, but that modern logo doesn't quite pair with the retro "Chevy" logo very well. The team's logo history doesn't do us many favors, but if you *must* have a shoulder patch, I might suggest either the "Chevy" logo's crown on its own, the modern LA letters on their own, OR *maybe* a recolored lion from the 2000s logo on its own... I really like your primary Islanders jerseys! I'd ditch the unnecessary shoulder patch and move everything on the sleeve upwards to fill that space, but otherwise, a perfectly fun and appropriate look!
  6. I totally agree; a bummer to see them without their distinctive design element (same for Philly without the center stripe or Dallas without the hoops...) But on the flip side, I wonder if the Galaxy's lack of sash this season has anything to do with their contract with the Herbalife MLM... AFAIK, it could (hopefully) come to an end after this season, and so maybe they went sash-less to avoid the usual gap in the sash being potentially blank? I dunno, but it's too bad that lovely fauxback kit won't live to see that day...
  7. It looks like you've found the rest of the teams' fonts okay... I had the same issue with Nashville's font for my current NHL series; the best I could do was tracing numbers from this thread, and using a similar-ish font for the names.
  8. That Jets idea is really outstanding! I really think the navy alternate is the best of the bunch, since its colors make the design read much more clearly as jet wings... Especially since I prefer the logo over the wordmark, I'd honestly love to see that as the basis of the set with some light blue added to it. Certainly light blue number outlines, and maybe with diagonal stripes below the wingtips and a chevron above the hem stripe. Also, it's not really necessary, but there's a part of me that wants to see the collar and the laces' background colored to match the wings, to subtly represent the nose of the jet. Minnesota looks good with the Winter Classic-inspired striping, but I think there's way too much empty space on this jersey... I'd bring the two sleeve stripes close together somewhere in the middle, and lower the numbers a bit... I'd also consider adding a second hem stripe, and enlarging the logo and wordmark (there's definitely enough room to do both!) Otherwise, a pleasant look to bridge the old and new! Since the Canucks don't want to use their historic arched wordmark for some reason, it can look good in Minnesota :P Nashville looks solid, though I think the sleeve striping really needs a thicker outline to match the shoulder yoke (i.e. white outlines at home, navy outlines on the road.) I think the current one is a lot better, but the old number font works fine here. Gosh those Black Hawks jerseys are really nice! Love the use of vintage white and emphasis on black, and the stars are right at home! (They sometimes feel tacked on in Black Hawks concepts, IMO...) A perfectly reasonable idea for the Capitals, but I'm feeling conflicted about it... The rotated logo looks a fair bit nicer, but the adjusted striping loses its W shape, which is a real bummer. The recoloration is solid, though. I also feel like outline-less numbers might help the W patch feel more at home...
  9. Gosh, who needs the curly Cal logo when that C-Bear logo is so gorgeous? I love to see it on the helmet! The home jersey is a very solid design that ties in well with football, but I love the away jersey idea of returning to the striping's inspiration by going vertical! I'd be excited to see you lean into the tower theme a bit more, by adding some sublimated horizontal pinstripes behind the vertical striping, and maybe adding two more separate vertical stripes somewhere in the middle... I really like the way you handle the silver for the Buffs, especially on the road. The Buffalo logo on the sleeves is a bit too high; I'd rather it didn't peak up above the mountaintops. You're right about that font; it's pretty underwhelming, and I don't get why they don't go with a serif block font to match their logo. Not crazy about the teeny tiny Greek sleeve stripes for USC. It's okay at home when at least its background matches the jersey, but away it just looks orange, and feels totally disjointed from the shoulder hoops. I'd recommend either making it bigger, ditching it, or possibly making it tonal.
  10. The color block on Michigan State's pants works perfectly with that elegant sleeve design at home, but it feels a bit out of place on the away and could probably be replaced by the Greek key design. That said, I'd be curious if a merging of the home & away sleeve designs would be possible, with the key design below the curve... Also, I agree that that script is quite sloppy, but it would be nicer if paired with a different font (maybe a sans-serif traditional varsity font with floating outlines?) Minnesota's minimal use of white is a good look. I'd be tempted to remove what little white is left, though! Those one-color Louisville logos bother me; I wish to un-learn of them... They don't do any favors to your otherwise solid Cardinals concept. I thought the diagonal lines on the away were a lovely rain pattern, and then I realized the gaps are just the stitching :D That Northwestern collar is fun; it works especially well away, and might be improved by being black/purple/black at home. Don't like the mismatching N logo on the pants and helmet. No complaints for Florida State, Virginia Tech, or Wake Forest! Since you asked for it, the Florida State gloves are fun, though I have to admit I didn't notice until you mentioned them... Probably inadvisable, but having that on a gold based-glove would probably be more noticeable. Also, wow, the Pitt Panthers have a good number font! Can you tell I know nothing about the NCAA? Excited for the more familiar teams to me in PAC12.
  11. I think your Pacific logo looks best without the hexagonal outline, and I'm not just saying that because I'm hoping to avoid competition with my hexagon + waves Sounders concept ; P In all seriousness, the tree + trident combo is really good, and I'd just suggest thinning up the center vertical prong, and maybe giving the trunk a white or teal outline rather than counter-coloring it in white. The font is a bit of a downgrade again, but the clean-up for Kyoto is much-needed. The lantern shape is unique, but it's not quite reading properly to me. I wouldn't normally suggest it, but maybe in this case some tonal shading (or possibly horizontal hatching lines representing creases) near one of the edges would help by giving it some depth...? Also the slight vertical asymmetry is bothering me slightly, even if it's realistic. I love what you've got going on for Yurawa! Honestly, any of these versions would be excellent, though I definitely prefer going with red + either white or yellow, rather than red + two colors. The diamonds inside the flower petals are a good addition. I think the stand-alone diamond makes for a great shape, though I think it'd work best with just the inner one and no outer one. I didn't think that adding a container or text would help, but that red & yellow shield one is pretty dang nice and well-composed; plus, that font is gorgeous. Excellent work! Looks good in both color schemes; I prefer the modern colors personally. I think the quasar benefits from the space, but I think the circle containing the quasar needs that extra breathing room way more!
  12. As a fan, I'm not opposed to this idea... But vertical stripes would probably be bad for our next matchup against Austin, made almost inevitably green v green by our dark away kit and the laughable lack of third kit, as you noted... That said, barring a needed refresh, I definitely agree that I'd love to see more blue. I see no issue with blue/green hoops or block gradient (a la Dallas '20 home) or, even better, a blue/green wave design (a la Whitecaps '20 away). Also, I hope that any and all Adidas stripes stay white rather than revert to blue-on-green/green-on-blue (but go back to normal-size, please!)
  13. I always like to see a little tasteful bit of pattern usage on football jerseys; you've got a nice one! I'd definitely add that nice knot pattern to the pant stripe. I'm also curious if it could be incorporated somehow on the numbers like the Seahawks do (perhaps it'd be to better effect on a simple number font like the one you used...)
  14. Weird that they get a mint jersey base color before a peach base color. I wonder, maybe it's meant to be mint julep themed? Is that broadly Southern enough to work in Atlanta? You're right it's weird that it might step on Colorado's away... But I find it even odder that it might undercut Charlotte's use of mint right as the Mint City enters the league!
  15. Just to second what's already been said, the template looks great! For Georgia Tech, I think if you're going with those beautiful baseball scripts, they deserve to be bigger and pair with smaller numbers, even if that's not traditional for lacrosse. Right now they're too overpowered by all the stuff around them (Adidas & conference logos, numbers) I love that white jersey with the hexagon pattern; the difference in the home & away is really kinda pleasant here! The away is nice too; I'd just lift the GT monogram above the striping. The design is good as-is, but I'd love for Boston College to work in more of that fun pants striping somewhere on the shirt and on the socks... Maybe as side panels, or as additional stripes that run up the sleeves behind the BC logo? I agree with @Midway; those helmets for NC State look cool! Not sure it'd be better, but I'm curious if the scratch marks would look good in white w/ black outlines on the red jersey.
  16. Really think all of these updates are serious improvements! Certainly, they all feel much more professional to me. I really like how that first standalone one has a good diagonal connection between the E and M. If you go with the serif M, which is a really compelling direction, I think that's the way to go. That top middle one is a nice idea, but unfortunately I think it pretty much treads on the toes of the Brewers' BiG. I'm not feeling the top left one. The E & B are too big and feel way too geometric to pair with the serif M... They might work with the triangular M of the bottom left version. I don't actually think the design needs a B anywhere, but it could be done. Speaking of that bottom left version, that rounded geometric M 100% gives those '70s design vibes I was talking about earlier, and I really love that route for the Expos! It has some nice Alouettes synergy. I imagine that simplifying that E and its tail could do wonders. The bottom middle version needs some cleaning up, but feels quite promising and the most like an evolution true to the Expos brand... I think the ball and the "belly" of the B are too big proportionally to the rest of the logo, but this is a really solid idea! For all of these (except the BiG one), though, I'm not quite feeling the amount of overlap of the "eye" of the E on top of the M. The bottom two versions are close, but I think the eye wants to be a smaller, truer circle that's placed lower and further left (so that its midpoint is *at least* as far left as the left edge of the M, or possibly even entirely outside the M). All of these have their own super-excellent aspects, and you're making good, fast progress in lots of nice directions!
  17. I really like that last version (inlined spokes with hexagon hub) for Arsenal; my first thought was that the stacked cannonballs can also serve a small nod to the ermines of the team's longtime crest. I think that Stade Brestois update looks absolutely perfect, and that Monterrey shielded update is an upgrade too; thanks for humoring me! The integration of the crowns on that Morelia logo is really nice. The elk idea for Salt Lake is really unique! It would make a great mascot for the team, instead of the overplayed lion. It's well integrated into the flower, too. I'm curious, since it's unique but kinda confusing; what is the shield shape supposed to be? Understandable... If you're willing to do that distinction with color instead of size, though, you could do "GALAXY" on top "EST. 1996" on the bottom...
  18. Definitely on board with the diamond/fleur-de-lys logo for Montreal; it's a really nice container and gives some subtle 70s Canadian design vibes. Only complaint is that the vibe is more austere; very different from the more whimsical cap logo. At very least, a silver outline and matching shades might help unify the logo set... and maybe (un)"italicizing"/skewing one of the logos would also help? The tone skews a touch minor-league or '90s Sixers for my taste, but the elements of this cap logo are really good ideas; I love the idea of using a more obvious M alongside the old monograms' swirly E. The execution is close, but the composition (especially of the E / M interaction) is really not working for me; the E and ball just feel pasted on top rather than integrated. There are probably other good ways to go, but I think using the E and the baseball as sorta ball terminals like the original would still work! As for the Raiders concepts, really my thought is that you've gotten the faces to a basically perfect place (especially with that 11-24 simplification to the skull). The star is a nice addition. My one complaint, really, is that the top point is way higher than the left and right points of the shield. Not a problem, Definitely, though, the flag/shield combination isn't working for me, especially for a more historic brand in a league shared with the Buccaneers. If you're really eager to include a tattered flag element, maybe it could work as a banner below the shield like soccer crests have?
  19. Really appreciate the thicker outlines for Coventry City, and the font is much better, but the wheel issue stands. Looks really good without the shield; not to say that it doesn't work with one. Good placement of the mountains on the Monterrey update, though I think I liked the shield... Does it work still or no? Your hard hat is nicely rendered for Columbus, and I like the Arch City idea, but there is too much empty space everywhere! I'd definitely have the arch text be "CREW SC" to fill the gaps on it. After that, I'd probably either put the arch below the circle like a banner and fill the circle with the helmet... OR maybe fill some of the remaining space with stripes and/or checkerboards (not sure this would work, personally) The Galaxy one is a nice era-combine, but I think it really wants to be a roundel logo; maybe the Greek pattern could work in there too. The Griffith Observatory makes for good inspiration; I've been thinking about an Angel City FC kit based on it too : )
  20. I like both these new updates! Not 100% feeling the font choices (feel a touch basic), and I think both (but Pau especially) could use somewhat thicker line weights. For Pau, the composition is great with the mountain and the Fontaine. I'm curious how it would look with the sky in a different color (white?) rather than being outlined? With Coventry, I like the checkerboard shawl for the elephant (feels like chess with the "rooks" above it :P) and the retro ball. The wheel is an inspired idea for an element, but it doesn't read clearly as wheel... I think the ball needs to much smaller for it to work, and so maybe you move "18" and "83" to the left and right of the castles.
  21. Oh wow, I had no idea... And I suppose this story is yet another of the many reasons the Sky Blue name & ownership deserved to go. I guess it's fair as long as the Red Stars and Courage keep carrying on the historical names, then!
  22. I quite like it as well. Probably my favorite NWSL logo of a busy year, since it's well executed unlike Angel City and not generic like the Current's logo is... However, I agree with the takes online; it's sad that it basically seals the grave on the return of the old Boston Breakers :( I'm hoping they won't go with a solid-color pink jersey, because two pink teams in SoCal would be odd, and Angel City needs a pink jersey more than the Wave does. A yellow to pink gradient would be okay though :)
  23. Love the update for RC Lens; the lighthouse works elegantly in that diamond motif container and the placement of the "Lens" text is really nice. My only ideas might be to swap the pick & shovel and make the shovel pointier (right now it looks like an indoor lamp!) or remove them entirely. The eye-shaped O for Orebro works as a great, unique container... I'd just make the O a touch thicker, and unify all the stroke weights in the illustration. Your Fulham update is a really great, creative design; no changes necessary! The idea is good, but I'm not quite feeling the execution on Stoke City. The font and composition feel a bit off, and there's a lot of empty space. Maybe try smoothing off the curve of the bottom of the crest, thickening the "neck" of the Bottles to match the stripe width, and adding a white border between the black and the stripes (like the current logo has between the stripes and the blue). I feel similarly about your composition for Stade Brestois. I think the best thing would be to "zoom out," so that more of the blades are visible and the ermine is smaller; right now it's hard to tell what's happening. Chicago looks good; the font is nice, and the flag and C gel well together. I'd increase the blue stroke weight on the outside of the C. For an otherwise symmetrical logo, I'd also consider choosing either the Civic Y emblem or the heart (or combining them into a single icon) to use on both sides. I appreciate the new unique, mosaic-inspired container for Toulouse a lot! I think the whole crest would look nicer outlined in dark purple and then gold, rather than just gold. You might also ditch one color; maybe replace either the lavender or the red with an earthier shade of pink, like that building in the photo. Monterey looks best in dark blue & white only. I like the mountain idea, but I'd move it around and enlarge it so the largest dip forms the "V" shape of the top of the M, and maybe move the ball above it or to the bottom of the crest. Anyways, lots of good work here! Sorry for my rambling; feel free to take or leave the suggestions. Excited to see whatever crest you have next!
  24. Well, I really like the update to the head/helmet/swords! I'm not a big NFL guy, but it feels like a nice cleanup without being too unnecessarily different, and the introduction of gold is nice and not too obtrusive. That said, I think the tears and changes to the shield shape feel a bit awkward. If you're gonna do that tear effect at all, it might look better if it was on both sides and the wordmark took up more horizontal space (there's an odd gap on the left), but I honestly think it'd be better to just keep the original shield. I'm with @TheGiantsFan; I prefer the text on version A for the Fire. I really like the attempt to make a C from the Florian cross, and the color balancing is great. I'm not sure it'd be better or not, but I'd be curious to see a version without the white gap in the blue section, and with a "19" on the left side to balance the "97". Good work! Siena's logo looks excellent; the illustration is really well executed and it's a massive upgrade over the real thing! I like the old version a bit more than the updates, actually, though the second update is solid. I'd just add a little tuft of hair on the neck above the back of the collar for a bit of that texture you're going for. The thing that really bothers me is that that wordmark falls flat in comparison to your excellent logo. The white text and many outlines feels outdated (green text would be better), the font is kinda bland, and it feels like a separate color scheme from the logo. If you want the team to be green & gold, you might have to recolor the dog (more green instead of black, metallic gold instead of brown?) to make it work... Otherwise, you should go with green and black with a silver halo for the wordmark. Sorry to sound so critical; the actual ideas/illustrations are really good stuff that deserve some cleaned up composition to accompany them!
  25. Haven't commented on this for a while... Don't know why. I like the Tokyo Olympics design a lot. The Japanese flag center court logo is fun, and the blossom design is really nice, but I think the woodstained characters are a bit awkward... I'd rather see them a bit darker, with one on each side of the key inside each three-point line. I like Birmingham but it could a bit of spice. I feel like, rather than repeating the full logo again, using just the gear/basketball centered on the free-throw circle for the woodstain would look really cool. Maybe it could fit into a cool interlocking gears pattern, or you just add some element of that on the sidelines, IDK. I really like the black Clippers court you did; the asymmetrical red/blue keys are excellent, and you chose a really nice woodstain design... Only suggestion would be to shrink the woodstain a tad so it doesn't cross the three-point lines. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the '90s Pistons style, but you balance the colors well. I'd either put the flames on each end line or as woodstain on the court rather than on a single sideline. I love that white Mavericks City edition court's sidelines! I'd just ditch the silhouetted people because they feel out of place. Also like that first Wizards white court with the roundel logo; the Washington Monument looks great down the center. I'd just go with red court outlines. Good work here!
