TrueYankee26
Since Coronavirus shut down the sports world, perfect time for A brand new TrueYankee26 series. Relocated Teams: Clippers (Los Angeles to San Diego, CA). Team Color Changes: Brooklyn Nets (add Brooklyn Dodgers Blue and make uni numbers New Jersey Nets red along with their current white and black color scheme), New York Knicks (back to the mid-90s color scheme to "hearken to successful years"), Miami Heat (vice colors full time), Utah Jazz (90s purple, late 2000s light blue), Dallas Mavericks (pre-2002 color scheme full time, but with the 2002-present royal blue), San Antonio Spurs (fiesta colors return and are primary colors along with black and silver). ABC, FOX and NBC hold rights to the network broadcasts and NBA Finals broadcasts are rotated so ABC in 2020, FOX in 2021, NBC in 2022 and so on, ESPN, Fox Sports 1&2, TNT, TBS and CBS Sports Network hold cable rights, ESPN+, Facebook, Peacock (NBC) and CBS All Access have the streaming rights. Atlantic & Southwest: 24 intra-divisional games (6 division opponents x 4 games each) + 54 intra-conference games + 6 inter-conference games = 84 Games Other Divisions: 20 intra-divisional games (5 division opponents x 4 games each) + 58 intra-conference games + 6 inter-conference games = 84 Games 20 NBA Playoff teams, 10 in each conference, bottom 4 seeds (7 v 10, 8 v 9) play each other in a one game wild card round, and the lowest seed advances to play #1 and the highest seed to advance plays #2 a la NFL, after that, same format as real life NBA. 8 teams from each conference but with a twist, the same reseeding happens so the lowest seed always plays the highest seed. *Hartford Harpoons are announced as an NBA expansion team the same day the Hartford Whalers are announced to make their long awaited return to the ice for the first time in almost 3 decades. **The Alaska Auroras become the first professional team from Alaska. ***The Seattle SuperSonics also get back the name, logos, and records from the Oklahoma City Thunder, which makes the Pacific Northwest go wild. ****After the Clippers move back to San Diego after their Inglewood plans fail, to prevent being the only major five leagues to not have two teams in the Los Angeles media market, quickly announce the Los Angeles Surf as an expansion team, owned by a Dean Spanos relative, so Chargers and Surf do many cross promotions as well as the Surf having similar colors except orange has been added. Unlike the Clippers, the Surf's Inglewood arena gets built. Edited April 21, 2020 by TrueYankee26 1 Quote trueyankee26.wordpress.com

TrueYankee26
To continue the "A brand new TrueYankee26 series" series, here is a new league: The Global Football League (GFL). 4 conferences, 2 based in America, one based in Asia/Oceania and one based in Europe/Africa. Eastern Conference Brady Division Boston Pilgrims Buffalo Thunder D.C. There were 3 teams in Canada: Atlantic Highlanders, Toronto Titans, and Vancouver Sockeyes, but were unable to survive against CFL squads in their markets due to futility and the respective CFL teams having dynasties in the 2030s, so they moved to Boston (Pilgrims), Buffalo (Thunder) and Seattle (Kraken) respectively. *The official name is indeed New Amsterdam American Football Club, the Knickerbockers are just a common nickname for them (i.e. Bronx Bombers for the New York Yankees). Same for the Kingston American Football Club and their nickname Reggae Boys **Based in Raleigh. ***Based in San Antonio. ****Originally supposed to be the Eagle Warriors, but shortened to Eagles. The mascot is an Aztec Eagle Warrior. *****The name Fire Dragons came from their owner being addicted to Pokemon and somehow creating a Pokemon which looked like a fusion of Charizard, Moltres, Ho-Oh, and made it the team's mascot. ******Short for the full team name, Portland Oregon Trailers, named after the video game and the Oregon Trail itself. *******Jörmungandr is a sea serpent in Norse mythology. Also they are based in Minneapolis. ********A Wolpertinger is an animal in Bavarian folklore. Also they are based in Milwaukee. *********Spoiler Alert, the NHL team in Seattle will not be named the Kraken in the NTY26 series, but it will involve another sea monster! **********The team uses the creole word for Haitian "Ayisyen" and the name "Revolution" is for the Haitian Revolution where the French were driven out of Haiti. ***********Habana is the name in Spanish for Havana, Cuba. ************Legendary bird in Chinese mythology, also Canton is an old English name for Guangzhou Up next: The NFL! CinnamonRoll21
So this is nothing close to real, but it's one of my ideas for a new NCAA playoff and realignment. The league is split up into Power 8, Group of 8, and Notre Dame/BYU, who are independents. Each conference has 8 teams split into 2 divisions. Each team will play 10 conference games (2 against each division opponent, 1 against each cross-division opponent), and 2 non-conference games. Then the top two teams in each division will compete for the conference championship, and the winner will go to the playoffs, which consists of twelve teams (8 conference championship winners, 1 G8 team, and 3 at-large teams). Each team will have a protected cross-division rival, who is in the corresponding column, that they will play for the 1st rivalry week in Week 9 (second one is the last game of the season). For the Group of 8 conferences and divisions are the same, but each team plays a 9-game schedule, playing every conference member once, with two out of conference games. The 8 conference championship winners will compete in a tournament for a spot in the Power 8 tournament and a Group of 8 championship. Notre Dame and BYU can only qualify for at-large bids due to no conference affiliation. I feel like this realignment will create new rivalries while retaining the old ones, and it will give every team a chance at competing for a national championship. So here are the conferences. Power 8 Group of 8 Here is a hypothetical playoff based on the 2019/20 season Group of 8 Power 8 Last but not least, these are hypothetical schedules for Alabama (P8) on the left and Troy (G8) on the right. TrueYankee26
New TrueYankee26 Series: NFL The NFL keeps profiting but their reputation keeps taking a hit due to poor refereeing, inconsistent disciplining, the continued problems with concussions in the sport of gridiron football and a major lockout cancels the 2040 season a la 2004-05 NHL. Even worse, Generation Z who has grown up, continues what their predecessors the Millennials have started: making soccer popular in all of North America north of Mexico, while the mostly urban, diverse and global fanbase of the NBA grows and TV ratings for the NBA grow but not to the levels of the 1990s, but you add streaming, it shatters even the best era of TV ratings. MLB gets their act together and all of the old school unwritten rules are over and obsolete. The NHL is popular as ever in Canada and the Northern tier of the US, but the CFL enters a golden age in the 2020s and 2030s, losing fans in Canada to Canadian Football. NFL looks destined to not be cool anymore.. but a new commish undo's the Goodell era and repairs the cracks on the NFL shield. American Football Conference AFC East Buffalo Bills Hartford Robins Miami Dolphins New England Patriots New York Jets AFC North Baltimore Ravens Cincinnati Bengals Cleveland Browns Indianapolis Colts Pittsburgh Steelers AFC South Birmingham Iron Houston Texans Jacksonville Jaguars San Antonio Commanders Tennessee Titans AFC West Denver Broncos Kansas City Chiefs Las Vegas Raiders Los Angeles Chargers San Diego Fleet National Football Conference NFC East Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Orlando Apollos Philadelphia Eagles Washington Redskins NFC North Chicago Bears Detroit Lions Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings St. Louis BattleHawks NFC South Atlanta Falcons Carolina Panthers Memphis Express New Orleans Saints Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC West Arizona Cardinals Los Angeles Rams Salt Lake Stallions San Francisco 49ers Seattle Seahawks Changes Expansion Teams: Hartford Robins (Hartford, CT), Birmingham Iron (Birmingham, AL), San Diego Fleet (San Diego, CA), Orlando Apollos (Orlando, FL), St. Louis BattleHawks (St. Louis, MO), Memphis Express (Memphis, TN), Salt Lake Stallions (Salt Lake City, UT). Switching Divisions: Indianapolis Colts from AFC South to AFC North. Color Changes: Atlanta Falcons (Red becomes the main color as well as on the primary jerseys and helmets), Carolina Panthers (Carolina Blue becomes the main color and the primary jerseys are Carolina Blue for the first time), New York Jets (switch from black to the 1998-2018 Hunter Green, and add the 80s-90s Kelly Green along with their 2019-present Gotham Green. So yep, the Jets have three shades of green), New Orleans Saints (back to the classic Old Gold). The new commish seems to be a fan of the short-lived Alliance of American football, a lot of team names carry over to the NFL. FOX still has the NFC rights as well as TNF, but the AFC rights go to ABC. Some NFC games get sublicensed to NBC and AFC games sublicensed to CBS. Sunday Night Football stays with NBC and Monday Night Football to CBS. The streaming rights pretty much follow the broadcaster, Fox Sports GO and Peacock for the NFC and TNF, ESPN+ and CBS All Access for the AFC, SNF and MNF. The Super Bowl is rotated annually between all of the big four channels. 20 games and 23 weeks with the same type of NFL scheduling system used today: 8 division games, 7 intra-conference games (5 of them against another division), 5 inter-conference games. 16 playoff teams, 8 in each conference, and no more byes, nor does winning the division guarantee you a home game, but having a better record than your opponent does. Next up: The revived WLAF/NFL Europe, once again owned by the NFL, with a twist!
