Well that's not really working out for them, as they've averaged around 25k in the first two full years of the park, and 31k this year despite being pretty good.

 

Regarding the old ballpark, WHY DID THEY APPROVE THE DESIGN?  It should be illegal to approve a design, get a park built, then complain that people can't enjoy the park because of the design that THEY CAME UP WITH AND APPROVED, then ask for more money to build a new billion-dollar Costco to play in.

 

I'm no engineer, but I have to believe that there's a way to build stadiums in ways that shade is provided, whether fixed, or with giant-moving arms (like Mr. Burns' sun blocker).  Hell - we're spending $2B on these things, what's the difference?

 

EDIT: their attendance at the new park has actually dropped from the around the last 10 (maybe more) seasons of the old one, so they can screw themselves.

The Rangers didn’t build a fixed roof dome though. They built a retractable roof, just like Houston, Arizona, and Miami.

Not sure, everything so far is just speculation.  I do know that the University of Minnesota baseball team uses US Bank for their early season home games and I haven't heard of a glare issue there.   It's possible part of the roof can be strategically shielded like the half of US Bank Stadium's roof is.

 

I guess we'll find out more soon enough.

It's the same city that used taxpayer money to pay for the Jerry Dome across the street, so it wasn't a surprise the city of Arlington accepted.  One thing is for sure, they may have the Cowboys and Rangers, but the city of Arlington will not get the Mavericks and Stars.

There was a new interior rendering from today.  Looks like while the roof is solid, the vertical walls just below the roof are transparent, as well as the centerfield area.  It was said on the broadcast of the press conference that those centerfield windows are movable to allow the outside in.

The Trop/New Stadium site is about a mile from the water, where Al Lang is. 

The real kicker is the Rays own the Rowdies. I think it's a toss up to to keeping Al Lang as is/upgrade, or maybe the relative straight lines from the foul line could be a big hint since the Rays seem to be keen on having the ballpark be used more than 90 times a year.

Hard to say.  I could see them maybe getting the Gasparilla Bowl, but the Reliaquest Bowl (formerly Outback Bowl) on New Years Day is probably firmly at Raymond James in Tampa.
