22-23 NBA Season Thread

Louisville's best chance of becoming a major league sports city is if the MLS decides to expand past 32 teams and Louisville City FC has substantial financial backing in their ownership group.  But in the NBA, it's Seattle and Las Vegas.  There's nothing in terms of relocation right now.

I wonder if Josh Harris would threaten to move the Sixers if he can't get approval to build his new arena.  This is already try number two (the waterfront proposal failed a summer or two ago... and it would have been pretty cool) and I can't imagine there being a third attempt (nor do I see him buying part of the WF Center like the Flyers seem to be ready to talk about.)

EDIT: I just realized I contradicted myself.  Moving to Seattle (or even simply threatening) doesn't make sense since he wouldn't own his own arena.  Makes it pretty easy to call the bluff.

I want Josh Harris to keep the 76ers in Philly and then buy the Texas Rangers if they ever go for sale because I want to see him own four major league teams in all four NFC East markets of Philly (76ers), New York/New Jersey (Devils), Washington DC (Commanders) and Dallas/Fort Worth (Rangers).  I just want it for the chaos because then Jerry Jones would have the owner of a division rival own another major league sports team across the street from where the Cowboys are playing.

The Kraken guys plus Rapper Macklemore, since he's already a part of the ownership of the Kraken.

I can't imagine his stake is more than a single percent. He has a similar ownership stake in the Sounders, though again, I doubt it's more than a vanity piece.

There was a time I used t look forward to Doris Burke calling games, but that time is over.

Man, you really don't want Harrison Barnes taking that shot. Should have been a Kings win...what a shame.

+/- isn't everything, but Klay was +22 in 39 minutes in a 1-point win. That's wild.

This needed to be fixed.

As captain of the Macklemore defense team I’d like to point out he has 2 Diamond singles and 7 other Platinum singles.

Say whatever about his music’s quality, but the man’s got hits.

Lol. Atlanta's postgame confetti is falling down in the arena during the game.

I hope someone gets fired for that blunder.

This Kings Warriors series is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Kings are giving the Warriors all they can possibly handle, and I’m damn impressed by them. This rivalry really needed a spark and I’m super happy we’ve gotten that. First road win (if that even comes), likely wins the series.

But lol at Harrison Barnes taking the final shot. I’m with @DG_ThenNowForeverHow can you possibly let that happen? Monk was open, too 🤦🏼‍♂️

The NBA has stated that they would consider expanding the league again once their CBA and Broadcasting deals are squared away:

They recently agreed to a new CBA, so the Broadcasting is all that is left before they even consider expansion and that one is likely going to take some time.

Why would they open the expansion doors after the media rights are locked in?

The Kings are in trouble by the way, this is a classic setup for the Warriors to steal one in Sacramento then win it back home. I was shocked when ESPN showed a graphic that teams are 26-308 when falling behind 0-2 in a series. Seems like it should be higher than that. A bunch of those wins must be recent.

I was thinking more like 2008 Spurs/Hornets or 2018 Cavs/Celtics, where the home teams wins the first six games, then the road team wins Game 7. Maximum heartbreak. "Warriors can't win on the road." 11-30 is a .268 win percentage. 1-3 is .250. They could still have a :censored:ty road record in this series and as long as it's not .000 it's good enough.

I don't know what the hell happened in Minnesota but I took my dog out and the T-Wolves were up by 12 or so with, like, three minutes left.  I came back in and Jokic was shooting free throws to tie it.

I had switched over to Kings/Oilers. Felt like Game 5 was a certainty.

I turned it on super late but enjoyed the OT session and Ant taking over. Good for him and good for Minnesota.

Those 2008/2018 series have another similarity: a young ascendent team with homecourt vs the aging veteran team getting by on guile and veteranosity

Warriors catch a break, literally as Fox is doubtful for the Kings for game 5. Fractured index finger in shooting hand.

Whew. It's been a couple of months since some major luck went Golden State's way.
