Yeah so Farhan better find a way to do something pretty quick because he’s probably the reason that Bochy “Retired”. Rangers sure do look ripe for a big post season run!

Regarding re-seeding, it's a pretty quick turnaround from wild-card to LDS.  My guess is re-seeding is off the table because suppose Texas swept Tampa Bay but the Twins and Toronto had gone to a 3rd game. Then Texas has to wait for the result of that game before they know where to go. Add the possibility of rain and it's probably not worth it logistically. I suppose you could argue that the Orioles have earned the right to play the lower seed and tough crap to the wild card team that has to wait on its travel plans but I don't think that's a great approach (add to that that the Twins actually have the worst record of the bunch and then we'll start splitting hairs on how they seed and argue whether the O's have the right to face them or if their division championship gives them the right to skip the O's and we'll soon see that we may as well pick seeding out of a hat).

Yeah, I think the extent to which you can devise a "solution" is to seed like the NBA did for years, which for the top wild card to be seeded at No. 3 and the bottom division winner at No. 4 if the top wild card has the better seed. NL bracket would've been the same this year, but that would've meant having Houston at No. 3 and Minnesota as the No. 4 seed.

Splitting hairs this year, but it helps immensely in a 2021-type season (well, or 2022 if the Mets hadn't blew their Wild Card series).

But when the Astros benefit yet again, there is no justice.

There no stopping the Astros* dynasty. Manfred whiffed on his chance to squash it, prevent them from winning more pieces of metal.

If Dusty Baker wins another WS, he is the Barry Switzer of baseball managers.

Huh? Switzer only won 1 title with the Dallascowboys. This would make 2 rings if The Lizard wins again this year.

Probably means a coach/manager who has already inherited a championship team before winning his first title.

So then he's already Switzer. If he wins again he's George Seifert.

We have two former Giants managers who were both at the helm for Giants World Series runs. One of them won three titles. The other… didn’t. I know which one I trust. Rangers in five.
