Β

Indeed it is. And they have the Pegasus constellation on the back, since they play home games at Spruce Meadows, better known as an equestrian facility.

Β

From the club website:

Quote

Inspired by the Alberta Night Sky and Canada’s northernmost Canadian Premier League team. Drawing inspiration from the Aurora Borealis and incorporating elements inspired by the Pegasus Constellationβ€”a nod to our home field at Spruce Meadowsβ€”this jersey proudly features Alberta’s celestial wonders. Show your team spirit and Alberta’s natural wonders. It’s more than sportswear; it’s a connection to the unique celestial offerings of Canada’s northern landscape.

Β

And for the red home kit:

Quote

Kick off your style game with our kit inspired by the dynamic tech industry in Alberta. Calgary has emerged as a major tech hub, covering software development, artificial intelligence, biotech, and clean technology. Our red kit embodies the dynamic spirit of innovation and seamlessly fuses the beautiful game with subtle references to the traditional Cavalry sash.

As someone from Calgary, the Northern Lights connection seem like a bit of an stretch for "Alberta skies" in relation to Calgary. Yeah, the Northern Lights can be seen in Alberta skies and can be seen from Calgary but they're much more an Edmonton/Northern Alberta thing, not really a Calgary/Southern Alberta thing.

Β

If they wanted a Calgary skies effect, they should have gone with a chinook arch.

On the whole I like these, they are distinctive without being over the top. But I think they'd be better without the clashing trim... blue and green is a God-tier colour combo but red and green just don't do it for me except as maybe a Christmas-specificΒ  theme.

AtlΓ©tico Ottawa have unveiled their new primary kit . For each one sold, club sponsor Maple Lodge Farms will donate a case of frozen chicken to community food centre partners β€” enough to provide a meal to 30 people, or six families.Β

Pacific FC have released their primary kit:

Β

On Wednesday, Pacific FC unveiled their 2024 primary kit, otherwise known as β€˜The Trident Territory Kit’.

Β

The new kit features Pacific FC’s iconic purple colours, while heavily featuring the Trident emblem. It is inspired by the Vancouver Island community, and the Island spirit for which its locals are known.

Β

Β

The Trident Territory kit is made with Macron’s ECO Fabric – a thread that is 100 per cent PET recycled polyester and is certified by Global Recycle Standard. Producing this fabric requires less water and less energy, and above all, it gives a second life to waste PET materials that would otherwise be thrown away. For every ECO Fabric shirt produced, around 13 half-litre plastic bottles are recycled.

I kind of love it! This and the night sky Calgary Cavalry kit feel like decent efforts to get some of the MLS Minnesota/Seattle/DCU meme shirt market but staying on the club's colours/theme. Helpful to build a new brand since the team is only on its' second season.

Following up on the above, Pacific FC have released their secondary kit, known as The Resilience Kit. More info below.

From the team's Instagram post for the kit:

The salmon outlined in teal and purple travel thousands of miles in their lifetime. On their final quest to return to their spawning grounds they ascend a tireless journey swimming upstream, avoiding predators and overcoming obstacles to return to where they were born. A hero’s journey that can only be described in one word. Resilient.

Designed by Coast Salish Artist, Maynard Johnny Jr., Pacific FC is proud to support the Indigenous communities we share the Island with. In an effort to continue to build our relationship, with the help of Maynard, we will be donating $20 from every jersey sold to Indigenous-based organizations Hope & Health and the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

I'm not a soccer guy so I admit I'm not really tuned into the culture. But having to come up with a new look every year sure leads to a lot of contrived designs that just reek of a designer struggling to come up with something in the face of a looming deadline.
