I've always wondered what the purpose of that weird halo around the front numbers was supposed to be. It looked particularly bad when those uniforms were first introduced and they were using dazzle fabric but the inside of that oval was matte. 2 Quote POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
loneranger158
The only logical thing I can think of is maybe a ringed planet to go with the space theming of sun? Though they never really use the space angle just more the Sun as its own object. Beats me. 5 Quote Parsons is my dude.
FiddySicks
I have absolutely no idea why they went with a ring around the Numbers, but when those were first released, I LOVED THEM. But then they played what felt like two decades in them and they got stale fast. Especially when the fabrics got so much duller. Also, to bring back up the ban on black jerseys, I remember that and I actually understood it somewhat? Even though I kinda like this look, there was absolutely no need for this uniform set. It felt like overkill even when I was like 9. 1 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) I also thought about the space theme and the ring, but it could also be the orbit around the sun, which fits even better. Anyway, those uniforms were really cool at the time, along with the orange alternate that followed the principle of using the same template with a color swap and only minor tweaks. The switch from shiny fabric really downgraded the look of this and many other teams indeed. Quote Also, to bring back up the ban on black jerseys, I remember that and I actually understood it somewhat? Even though I kinda like this look, there was absolutely no need for this uniform set. It felt like overkill even when I was like 9. I was around the same age and this Jazz' black always felt fitting to me. Maybe also because those particular colors worked so well with black and it was kept on-brand. The alternates also weren't abused the hell out during those times like it is done now, but were kept occasional and special.

What's the general consensus here on Nike getting rid of the Home/Away/Alternate split of uniforms back in 2017? Personally, I dislike it. I've had a lot of issues with Nike as the outfitter for the NBA but this is my biggest gripe. And what do you guys think the odds are that the NBA doesn't come to another agreement with Nike for the future, once their contract is up after this coming season? That, and no less the annually changing disposable second-tier quality that the alternates have mostly become design-wise, in many cases off-brand, killing the excitement related to them. In other words, they turned fashion jerseys into on-court uniforms. So, fully sharing your sentiments. Also, now that all hell has been let loose for the sake of profit, including allowing any color shoes to be worn, I can hardly see them starting to tighten the screws just like that, as much as I'd love that to happen myself.
