Gary
I start this thread because of the fact the Las Vegas Tourism Board is sponsoring every player $100,000. WNBA is now investigating https://sports.yahoo.com/las-vegas-tourism-arm-announces-100000-sponsorship-for-every-aces-player-044357600.html

Dynasty
You know, I'm thinking it's probably not the best idea to schedule the most promising player entering the league, as well as what was the worst team the year before, against two championship contenders right off the start in four games total. I know there's only twelve teams in the WNBA, but c'mon.

There was much, much more to it than that. I'm sure by now many have seen, but apparently those two got a little chippy earlier in the game before that clip. But watch that clip again and two things jump out: Watch the Sky bench when Carter shoves Clark. You'll see two players jump off the bench and celebrate Carter's action. The one to the left as you see the screen was none other than Angel Reese (who got in a cheap shot of her own a few minutes after this.) Watch the second slow-motion replay and pay attention to Carter's lips as she approaches Clark, and read what she says before she loads herself to launch into Clark. Bush-league stuff... 5 Quote *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
Can you imagine if randos on Charlotte FC or DC United just trucked Messi every game? The whole Caitlin Clark experience has been so weird. 3 Quote 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
BBTV
I don't know how funding works for the WNBA (like if they are self-funding, or do they get "grants" from the NBA) but I can only imagine that Clark is leading to increased revenue, which in theory should trickle down to all the other players. If it's the NBA where it doesn't need any one individual to fund it, then sure - kill a guy that you're jealous of. Want to kick Kevin Durant in the nuts every night and try to break something? Whatever, it's not hurting anyone (besides Durant.). But trying to injure her seems totally counter productive since she's the player that (I think... I could be wrong) that any increase in revenue can be tied to. If anything, opposing teams should be instructed to let her be a star, even if that's unethical. TalktoChuck
I enjoy Caitlin Clark as much as the next guy, but her and her alone is not going to boost the WNBA in the grand scheme of things. If she comes in and just dominates everything then people will get bored real quick. She's not so talented that people will continue to just watch her. You need a rival or two to rise and battle with her. While sometimes they are going a little overboard, I am all for the chippyness.

If she turns out to be really good, it always helps to have a foil. Also, I've thought that the women's game should lower the hoop by around a foot, just to get more dunking and power-play. I've never understood why women have to play on men's dimensions rather than something more proportional to them. Obviously women can and do dunk, but maybe lowering the hoop would add more to the game. OR... raise the men's hoop by a foot. I'm not sure Naismith ever envisioned a league full of 7'2" Camaroonians, 7'7" Congolese, or all the giant white guys from the former Yugoslavia. 3 Quote "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." Germanshepherd
For me personally, Caitlin being targeted from Day 1 and having to earn everything is way more interesting than if she came in and started dominating. It’s like what the Pistons were to Jordan early on in his mythos. I certainly hope watching her improve and figure out how to manage the physicality will keep people coming back to see the progression. It’ll be more a marathon than a sprint, which will be interesting to see momentum wise. 1 Quote i have unquantifiable corpses on my conscience

FiddySicks
Seems real dumb for an up and coming league to out and out target their biggest potential star since the creation of the league, but oh well. It’s just women’s basketball, right? (sarcasm on the last part, obvs). Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
Last year, the NY Liberty's average attendance was 7,700, which is pretty good! However, today they played the Fever and 17,000 people were in the building. Caitlin Clark went 1-10 for 3 points and the Liberty won by 36. GDAWG
The Dallas Wings has a team good enough to be a legit contender for a WNBA Championship, but the team has had a history of alienating its top stars, with the blame squarely on Co-Owner and CEO Greg Bibb among Wings fans. Something Shaq and T-Mac have been proposing for the past few years. It's not a bad idea, but the reactions from most WNBA players has been pretty negative. 1 Quote "I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific."
